Im 6 ft 3. Went from 325 to 225 in 8 months last year. Walking 3 miles a day at least and calorie deficit. Intermittent fasting. Never ran or stepped foot in a gym. The hardest part is losing 100 lbs and people barely recognizing because my height. Ive maintained my new weight for months because you naturally move around better when your not carrying around that shit. Your new level of activity makes all your activities twice as easy. Anyway, yes, losing weight is incredibly easy if you start today. Waiting for tomorrow will keep you depressed.

As someone who used to be extremely fit, but then gained weight over a period of years with mental hardship and other factors playing in, I had gym membership on and off for some time. I used it, infrequently, and while it gave me some momentary motivation, it never stuck. All I ended up doing was wasting my money.
I knew it had nothing to do with gym usage and training and exercise. It has everything to do with habit. So I started looking at my habits and the most obvious aspects:
      1. Eat less fat and sugar
      2. Eat less, period
      3. Find a good reason to actually leave the house on a consistent basis
So number 1 and 2 are easy in concept, hard in execution. And it has been the one aspect that still can cause some issues from time to time, albeit much less now than prior.
Number 3 is the opposite -hard in concept, but once you get it the execution actually gets fairly easy.
My trick was to find a nice walking path where I enjoy the scenery (live in a big city so I picked one with lots of changing scenery). Then I picked a pass time element which became podcasts. I forced myself to walk for 1 hour every day, on the same route, while listening to podcasts that were (often) relevant to my line of work in entrepreneurship. So whenever I had some mental fatigue from my regular work at my desk, I would get up, put on a nice podcast, and just start walking. Bring along a low calorie sports drink, and just walk. Half listen to the podcast, while contemplating my own thoughts and directions in life. Aspiration and hurdles to overcome.
Before I knew it, I started craving these walks. I would look forward to them. Sometimes I would take detours because I was enjoying myself and wanted to stay out longer. Other times I would cram in two walks per day when I had the time to do so. And oftentimes I did have that time, or I would make the time, with late evening walks before going to bed. Just a 1 hour stroll through the night city feels so good.
Now I can't go without these walks. And the walks also motivate me to deal with aspect 1 and 2 about eating less and more healthy. Not to any crazy extend, but I feel how they reinforce each other in various ways.
Never set foot in a gym for the past year, yet it's been the year where I've lost the most weight and felt the best about myself and my outlook on life in general.
The key is to take small but consistent steps. Build the habits first, then the desire to do more and better will follow. If you try to do too much or set your goals high, then you risk collapsing entirely the first week where you can't live up to your self expectations.

As a kid that was always a bit on the chubby side, and then bounced back and forth between 160 and 233 lb the last 10 years, I absolutely believe that diet is 90% of the game. I abhor gym exercise. I just don't get mentally stimulated, feeling like a hamster on a wheel. I would literally rather go outside and chop wood, or do any type of practical work. Luckily, for my job, I walk long distances over shity Terrain with equipment on my back, through all seasons, in Northern Canada. I get enough movement and exercise to sustain my muscle at 46yrs old, and I've never felt better, eating primarily a fresh vegetable and meat diet. I also make sure to include plenty of healthy fats. Cutting sugar and bread was the biggest game changer for me. Every once in awhile I'll have a few croutons on a salad, but other than that, I've cut all of that nonsense out of my diet, and my brain fog is completely gone, as is the inflammation in my GI tract.
I look and feel better than most of the people I know in my age group. I actually got ID'd at the liquor store recently, which was surprising, because I live in a small town and they don't enforce that law unless they really are suspicious..😅

At the beginning of Covid when they figured out that obesity was the #1 co-morbidity, I was 260 lbs (although 6,2) and overweight with high blood pressure. I started making changes to my diet and exercising, and yesterday I passed the 189 mark. No Ozempic, I did it the hard way, but the right way. Now I've got muscles, I can bench, I have abs, I've lost almost 8 inches off my waist, dropped from a 48 to 42 shirt, my blood pressure is normal now! I don't care if you're left or right, we should all be on board with MAHA!

I think there are two cases
      1) for those so obese the weight loss just needs to happen or they might die in short order... yeah get the surgeries and take Ozempic
      2) for those who are overweight and can learn the benefits of weight loss (improved mood, self discipline, energy, lower depression levels etc etc) for those people
take the long route and harder route as the journey is very much worth it, the person you become along the way will be worth the additional effort and hardship.
Though I think right now and for the next 10-20 years were probably going to have a big fight between the "I took Ozempic" vs "I did it naturally" demographics
which is likely not going to end well for some people, But I think thats just unavoidable.

Just an anecdote on the Lyft incident with the zeppeliner of a woman:
Car suspension is built for a fairly distributed load, and is accounting for a certain range of reasonable weight in each single seat/boot/etc. If you put 2-3x excess weight in only one spot, that means one suspension component will have to deal with an excessive force. It will probably be fine under normal driving, but lets say you hit a pothole or you have to do an emergency maneuver etc. With that crazy weight misdistribution, the suspension is not set up to cope with it, and it could pose a real hazard in such a case- either damaging the suspension or potentially endangering someone (either her, the driver, or an outsider).
In any way, it is a perfectly acceptable response to decline her in response to not being comfortable with how the vehicle may/may not cope with her weight. Any engineer or mechanic would agree in a heartbeat. If she can't even easily get into the vehicle, the vehicle is not for her. And she knows.

I knew "body positivity " was BS when I started seeing hepatic steatosis (fatty liver disease) where excessive fat accumulates in the liver, and which may progress to cirrhosis. It is a common liver problem, affecting up to 25% of the population worldwide! The obvious correlation between weight and health is undeniable.

I take Ozempic. It's so stupid that people are ashamed of taking it or shaming others. This drug is honestly a miracle.
I've lost weight in the past and it was always a real struggle trying not to eat, counting calories, doing special diets.
On Ozempic I don't even think about eating, and just set reminders on my phone to make sure I get 100g of protein a day + some vegetables & fiber.
My blood pressure and cholesteral is best it's ever been in my entire life. I feel motivated to go to the gym every day. I've stopped drinking, gambling, and smoking. All like magic after taking a drug with 0 willpower involved.
If you want to look down on me and struggle through your diet and exercise regime using "willpower", be my guest. I've got other things to focus on like my work and family, I can't be fucked to get into a battle with myself to lose weight when modern medicine has solved the problem.

It cost a shit ton and probably has negative long term effects and is confirmed to stop working for the majority after they stop taking it.
The only person I care if they were in it would be my gf/wife and that’s more about the type of person who would result to this drug and what that says about them. Idc what it says about you if I’m not trying to marry you, but I do care if we’re dating

I think Adele became beautiful, and then her beauty made her past beautiful: It redeemed it. The only way to include that negativity body state is by making an ultimately healthy body journey.

    • @nikkotekoey
      @nikkotekoey 3 години тому

The only way negativity can be redeemed, can be not pointlessly useless, is by a glowing positivity: One of effort, self examination. It is the only way across all dimensions - Size, finance, athleticism, ethnicity, reputation, et cetera - to redeem the stupidity for all of suffering: Positivity! Health! Transformation! Growth!

    • @nikkotekoey
      @nikkotekoey 3 години тому

In essence, you gain TWO advantages by redeeming yourself: (1) You shed the thing that isn't you, that your corrupted soul chose to claim (2) You develop yourself! Your own personality, outside of your inauthenticities. Go positivity!

The only problem I have with short-cuts is the side effects and consequences. The phrase short cut implies you cheated in some way, you did something wrong that will have a negative consequence. If taking medicine to make you thin works then I'm not going to look down on them for doing it. If some guys wants to get jacked and takes steroids in a healthy way (if that's possible) then who cares.
We apply unnecessary extra virtue based on how much work we assume goes in to results to the toxic outcome of looking down on people for not taking the hard way. Imagine we applied this logic to everyday life. Do we mock the people who drive to work when they could've walked for 3 hours there and back? Do we criticize the handyman using an electric drill instead of a manual screwdriver?
When results are what matters we need to stop caring about how people got there. It's fine to learn about a difficult struggle someone had to go through, extra effort that was *required* for them to achieve it and praise them for overcoming it, but that doesn't mean we stigmatise people that got there the easy way.

The issue with people taking ozempic in place of excercising to lose weight is that one of the main side effects of all GLP1 agonists (semaglutide = ozempic and wegovy) is that they cause muscle to breakdown, so one of the main counseling points Drs/pharmacists always tell these patients is you need to do muscle training daily to avoid said muscle wasting away side effects. However, most people are taking ozempic to avoid that entirely…

I'm 6'4" 160 lbs; yes a twig. The members of the "body positivity movement", in the pre-Ozempic days, would be the first people to point out how easy it was for me to do something because I'm skinny. They'd say, "You're skinny so [fill in the blank] must be easy." But if I ever said, "You're fat so let me do the heavy lifting here." it'd be absolutely detestable and I'd be burned at the stake.
Tom Cigarettes said it best when called them, "Fucking hypocrites!" Hahahaha 😆

As a hospital worker obesity takes on a whole new level of negative stigma seeing people all day that have reached the tipping point where they are finally reaching the consequences for their actions. As someone that was morbidly obese and finally got in great shape, the hard way, I was initially judgemental of ozempic but now, after years of working in the hospital, I just want a fix for this epidemic. Sadly though they are finding more and more negative side effects of Ozempic so we will see.

One year ago I went to my doctor and asked her to prescribe me ozempic as I had tried everything else (at least that's what I thought back then). She said she'd do I had to go to a dietician first for one "last try". I had been to dieticians before, but this time I was basically like "well, got nothing to lose (pun not intended), might as well play along". Well, I've lost over 35kgs since then, without having to take ozempic in the end. 😂
