Never really expected to see math in your videos, interesting... Now this is something i'd watch and annotate instead of doing my homework for calculus
Thank you for making this video by the way. Biggest takeaway on my end was learning that the help die is more important than getting advantage. Which is cool because it means teamwork will be more important in DC20. For instance, the Hunter's Mark feature giving a help dice to others but just advantage to yourself
Great video as always! I always knew that adding AP for higher levels of ADV have diminishing results, but it didn't really occur to me that the impact of spending AP to remove DisADV is less effective the more you have. It makes perfect sense in hindsight, but I had never considered it until I say the expected values of ADV/DisADV written out.
So I thought it first I was beginning to understand and then you got to the part where this is the odds of you rolling a specific number and you completely lost me. The math got mathy and my brain just was like nope. I will believe you that it makes sense and I am still trying to persevere and understand.
@simeonsnow6742 ADV 13 (rolling 14 dice) gets you a 51.23% chance of rolling a crit. ADV 12 only gives you a 48.67% chance of rolling a crit. TLDR: its not happening lol
I am confused about the chances of getting a Natural 1 with Advantage decreasing with the number of dice. I thought if you roll a 1, it doesn't matter what the other dice are so the more dice you roll, the chances of a natural 1 should be increasing with the number of dice. The only exception I was unclear about is if you roll a 1 and a 20. Which roll takes precedence?
The fact that I just watched a math video proves how strong the DC20 community is.
@@Bardicaggravation we love to see it

@brutal6653 yeah probably not gonna cover any derivatives or integrals.....unless....

@simeonsnow6742 yeah that's the part of the video that makes it DC20 related lol. Otherwise it really isn't

@212crow212 this is part of the subtle genius of the multiple check penalty

If you ever do understand it, maybe you can explain it to me.
@Wolvesofthenight yes that part also looks like a huge mess to be honest. Luckily for your sake there's just the part where I show the results

DC20 math is actually quite interesting.

Nice chunky maths in there :)

Just curious: how many advantages would I need to have a coin flip chance at a crit?

@wstrater if you roll with advantage you use the highest result of all the rolls. If I roll a 1 and a 5, my result is treated like a 5.
@ Thanks.
