My 17K gallon in ground was a whole leafy swamp. I told it I was coming for it, lol. It took 20gal of chlorine, 4 packs of shock and a week of constant filtering to get it clear blue. Definitely don't swim if you can't see the bottom. Mine had a cottonmouth snake in it. Great job!

I’m 64 have had a pool since I was born, my father always handled pool duty. We HAD A SAND FILTER, it was terrible, father changed to DE filter. DE is better than sand filter! However my father always had clear water when opening the pool for the first time, as did I. Till my husband covered it 1 year without me home. When we opened it, it was so green, I was so mad, he didn’t vacuum it, no chemicals before he covered it! My husband said, well let’s just drain it, that was not happening, I refused. Took me 3 days of running filter 24/7, back washing, vacuuming, and lots of shock, but got it clean. This man did a great job getting it clean and it is hard work!

My partner has to do this every year. We go to the pool store, tell em what our pool is doing. They're so good, they give us exactly what we need. We have the bluest water, and we do it all ourselves

Nice pool! We had a 24’round for 28 yrs. My wife became an expert at keeping its PH balanced. It had to come down because it was to old. It was worth the time and effort maintaining it. Our kids and the neighborhood kids spent their summers in it. Turned our garage into a pool house. Prepping the pool properly in the fall will determine the difference between swamp water and blue water in the spring.
Be sure to remind your children how awesome their daddy is! We need to speak favorably of good men. What a blessing a good husband is, and how fortunate his children are!

If you add chlorine and algaecide when you close it for the winter, it makes it easier in the spring.
