For a youtuber, you definitely have a smaller makeup collection than many others on here, and I appreciate that you keep it reasonable. Your approach to a smaller collection and making sure you are using things is one of the main reasons I watch. I think it's interesting to work out how many things you use per year, not for the crazy total of 236 years of something, but to understand that many of the things you have will go bad and have to be discarded before you would ever come close to finishing them. I think it's good for all of us to question how much of something we truly need, and maybe think twice before getting that new blush that looks a lot like the blush we already have! Thanks for your transparency!
I so so appreciate how intentional you are with your makeup. Your videos always help me keep a very rational eye towards my collection. I have years and years' worth of makeup already.
I love these kinds of videos! It really puts how much we have and how much we buy into perspective. I have at least 5 years of base product, and at least 20 years of color face products, a literal lifetime supply of lip products (not an exaggeration) and I stopped there. It just reconfirmed my dedication to a year long no- buy. I've stuck to it so far.
@@AnythingBtOrdinary91 I'm 100 percent certain just about everything is going to expire before I can use it. I went through my stuff right at the end of the year and had to throw a few things out already.
@@marylove909 Another suggestion would be having standards/filters for what type of products you buy-Example-products that are cruelty free, vegan, fragrance free. A theory I came up with for myself is the more standards you have the less options of products to choose from which means the less likely you'll accidentally hoard and over consume stuff before you have a chance to use it all before it expires.
@@AnythingBtOrdinary91 luckily, I went cruelty free 6 years ago and have been fragrance-free my whole life due to atopic dermatitis. That pretty much also ruled out matte base products and anything full coverage or touted as long wear because they tend to be too drying. The two I really had to learn the hard way was not getting sucked into things that are limited edition. and not to buy backups or get things that looked interesting simply because they were on sale and I could 'save money'. I save 100 percent when I just don't buy it.
I really like how you use your averages to guesstimate how many years worth you have in different categories. Thinking about my own collection, I think I need to extend my no buy indefinitely for blush, eyeshadow, and probably lip products too.😅
As someone who has both the Milani eye primer and Nyx glitter primer, I do find space to use both but I'm using the Milani like 90% of the time. It really depends on what shimmer I'm going to use though! I only use the glitter primer if I'm using a shadow that tends to melt glitter down my face like my ABH Sultry palette. I just vastly prefer the Milani primer in most situations since it actually keeps my shadow from creasing for 8+ hours for the workday. And personally, the difference in shine intensity between the 2 if you're already using a high impact shadow is not usually worth it. Just my 2 cents though! P.S. I liked this format with the hands cam!
I think I agree with that! Most of my fave shimmers are already high impact and fallout isn’t usually a huge issue for me with just the Milani primer. I think I’ll hold off on re-buying the glitter primer.
I really enjoyed this video, thanks. Its very helpful to have a perspective of just how many years of makeup i am likely to have (and you would go through yours at a much quicker pace than me as im not a consistent wearer of makeup). I have sufficient lip products for several lifetimes im sure, yet keep searching for something elusive! Ive recently started a comprehensive spreadsheet if all my skincare and makeup which may help me retain a better sense of perspective (and is taking weeks just to make a note of it all, lol).
Sarah, I do love your channel, one of my favorites videos are the makeup inventory and the ones where the cats are in it, I totally love that you know the colors that fits you and your style 🧡
Makeup Inventory videos are my fave! And I love doing my own. It’s funny how I have such minimal amounts of bronzer, highlighter and powder…and then massive amounts of palettes and blushes. You can def tell what I like!
Enjoyed this a usual 😊 I think you're going to have so much fun making BYOP's with your singles, especially when you've depotted the other BH palettes ☺ I made 8 BYOP's last year and the one I did for Halloween ended up being my most used palette the entire year, despite the fact it only had 3 months to catch up with all the other palettes 👻😊 And I still use it cause its the best I've ever made 😁 Also that's why it's a good idea that you have several magnetic palettes so you don't have to break up the ones you love right away 😀
I feel like I have a similar size collection as you, except for the eyeshadow portion, I definitely don’t have that many haha! And I rarely ever wear makeup 🙈 but I really would love to wear it more I just don’t have the time to sit and do it very often between housework, animal care and chasing 4 kids around, but I am big on my skincare and have plenty of items to use there ❤️
I loved this video, I found it so informative and inspiring! I really like the Ilia limitless lash mascara, I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on it so that could be a fun one to open next!
sarah could you share the template you use for tracking your usage? i have a basic project pan one, but love the idea of tracking all my products across multiple years

I have lip products from 2013, I've never seen one go bad. I melt all mine together to create subtle colours.
As you declutter or use things up it would be interesting to see how many years worth of product is moved out of your collection.
I so so appreciate how intentional you are with your makeup. Your videos always help me keep a very rational eye towards my collection. I have years and years' worth of makeup already.
I really love this type of video because it's eye-opening about how much certain makeup items last

Just a suggestion-you might want to double check and make sure nothing you currently have is expired as you work your way through using stuff up.

@@marylove909 That's AWESOME. Backups are great for essentials but nobody needs more than two backups especially if stuff expires quickly.

I love make Up inventory Videos 😊
Thank you for watching!
Hi Sarah, I do like this format the best. I also like how you averaged out the years of product you have. TFS ❤

I feel the same way about glitter glue.

I loved seeing your collection!
The Ilia mascara is clean brand, it went flaky on me quicker than others. Probably best to focus it after opening. Enjoyed your video.
Been watching the murder trial of harmony Montgomery, glad to see something different pop up!
Would love to hear what you think about the 100% Pure mascara! I vote for that one next. :)
Your Videos are great! ❤
Hello from Brasil! I love this kind of video, great inventory! 🫶🏻
I love the overhead and the comparison photos. Thanks for sharing. Pretty fun with the stats.
Great format.
Fantastic video Sarah! Love this!
I’m watching the video to be inspired to declutter and minimize my makeup collection.
Very interesting to see - thank you for this lovely video!
the ilia mascara is my favorite mascara ever!
1.I'm proud of you and 2.I hope you did an expiration declutter recently (health comes first).:)
I’d be very interested to know your opinion of the 100% Pure mascara.
That's a lot of makeup products! How about using an inventory management app to track all your items? 😉
sarah could you share the template you use for tracking your usage? i have a basic project pan one, but love the idea of tracking all my products across multiple years
235+ years worth of eye shadow...that made me laugh
I had to stop the video cause her math was hurting my brain, I don’t know what kind of school teaches that kind of math 🙄
