I think your style of using cuts works a bit better! It probably works better to help you collect your thoughts, and you sounded a bit pressured to keep a consistent flow in this video. It's not bad, and it will definitely help you produce more content, but above all else you should stick to what makes you comfortable! Don't try the "all in one take" style if it makes you uncomfortable.
Constructive criticism; This was still funny unedited, but not as good as edited, also the slower progress is a negative. If you have the time, edited video's for this series will be appreciated in the future.
I adore your stuff, DF. Maybe a happy middle ground is just cutting out parts where you're traveling from one place to another. Those seemed to be the only slow bits.
I personally like both, the comedy of the cuts is nice but I also enjoy just listening to you haha. But, tip, everyone (except for the children) like coffee! if you get a coffee bean they are insanely easy to grow and multiply.
Okay dude. You have played - BY FAR - the most of this game of any human being alive. Probably at least twice as much as your nearest competitor. 95% of the videos on UA-cam of this game are yours, by my estimation. And yet, with all of the hundreds (thousands?) of hours you have spent playing this game, I hear at 0:20, "I'm not really sure who Jodi is." Explain yourself.
Sadly, he cares more about the logistics and math of the game (counting crops, spaces, ratios, etc) than the social aspect of it. Basically, if there's no material benefit to befriending the villagers (and if he didn't have to do this 100% run) he would never even bother with them. I think one of his saves has him literally only knowing Robin, Lewis, Pierre, and Willy (basically all merchants). It's what makes his relationship series so hilarious lol
Kind of off topic but I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I saw your video on prismatic shard with wallpaper, so I tried it and it totally worked! I spent hours and hours trying to find one in the mines and always dying. Now I've got the galaxy sword it's so easy. So thank you again!
I like both ways you've done your videos. In this one it's kind of relaxing, like I was working on my drama essay while watching it and your humor is still kind of good. In your edited videos it's more comedic and the humor is more constant, so a little less relaxing but definitely more humorous.
I like both this AND edited down versions. Both offer different things and are great. I prefer the cut down version slightly more, but as a creator, I would like you to do whatever you're more comfortable with and what gives you more enjoyment.
While the normal edited videos may be more consistently hilarious, I actually found this style just as enjoyable as normal. The main difference is in how they are entertaining, with the normal cuts being more likely to amuse me, this new style is actually very relaxing for me. Personally I think I'd like both styles of video together.
I don't mind the new style at all. I enjoy seeing your thought processes, not just one funny one-liner after another with no pauses. Ease of recording and editing is the same reason I started doing an LP of Stardew Valley. My viewers certainly seem to enjoy the way I just mindlessly talk about whatever enters my head while I do the repetitive farming tasks. I suppose most of your viewers are used to your faster pace, so this will seem jarring to them, but if it's easier, go for it! Use whichever method is easiest for you. I'd certainly rather have a lot of these less-edited ones than very few much-edited ones. And you got all the corn! Hooray! \o/
Do whatever is more comfortable for you, don't force yourself to do things that don't feel natural to you. Any stardew valley video you do always keeps me interested until the end of the video :)
YUMHardyABC Gaming he's gonna burn the house down within the first few days lol I can hear it now "well your an annoying person so I'm just gonna burn your living space down"
I like this style just as well! Especially when you're pressed for time. It would be harder to get through more than one day though if you were trying to do an experiment, but for the completionist series I think it's perfect! It does feel like a live stream 😊
So... the pacing is better in your edited videos... but that is kind of a given right? Otherwise there wasn't much other drop in content quality... would be fine to put out this style video if it suits your schedule better.
I love your work, your humor is broken like mine, and I love it. Just a helpful tip: If you can remember to close the barn doors at night, I find it easier to milk/harvest the animals each day and then open their bar doors afterwards. Less hunting, and more time saved.
this video was still good, it was almost like watching a live stream without a chat. No one ever tells you editing is such a time eater. I hate doing it.
YOu did this while you were starting to get a cold?! Sweet child. Thank you for making this video anyway. ;.; Both formats are good. This one just shows a slightly different side of you? I guess it's all a matter of what takes more energy out of you. Maybe a combination of the two if you have time.
I think the important thing is that you be comfortable doing what you want to do. I think your viewers will come to see you because you are enjoying what you do.
I actually quite like this slower longform content. Even if it's not what you stick to; I think it works well as a video type to put out when you're short on time.
Since you are obviously going to get the iridium forage skill for forage level 10, get a lot of pigs. Truffles count as forage, so they will be iridium quality, which is good.
Lol so awkward xD but it was hilarious, I was expecting cuts even though you said you wouldn't. Personally I prefer the cuts, but one of these once in while is fine! (And awkwardly funny)
Hey just wanted to say you don't need to worry that much about making mistakes. From what I have seen making mistakes makes you more relatable as a youtuber, makes you even more likeable.
Some Feedback: Although I understand that oneshot, less-edited videos are easier to push out and will net more videos, I definitely missed the charm of the highly edited videos. I felt like it differentiates the channel a bit from other, more typical, letsplay channels. On the same note though, always doing the same type of videos can get stale also so mixing it up like this is always welcome
Here's a helpful tip: When there is a time where you cant get home in time for bed, there is a glitch that you can do to stay awake past 2:00AM, when your in the middle of your sleeping animation at 2:00AM just open and close your journal and your awake for another 10 in-game minutes! (You Can Repeat the process and you can stay awake for as long as you want)
beware at the end of the video sound and image aren't synchronized anymore, it's barely noticable but it's obvious when you check your chests at the end of the video. I don't know if you can do anything about this without a lot of trouble love the new editing style, fantastic video ^^
I'm sure you know this already but if you want the best animal products you need to pet and milk them first thing in the morning, then let them out, as well you'll close the barn doors at night as close to 5 as possible and go to sleep as close to 6 as possible. As it is currently implemented animals lose 10 happiness down to 150 every 10 minutes you're awake after 6:00, hence going to bed at that time. Petting animals when they are at maximum happiness of 255 causes them to overflow to the lowest possible happiness, hence why you do it first thing in the morning before they have a chance to go outside and eat. Animals lose happiness for being outside or being allowed outside at night (after 5pm) or when it's raining hence why you take them in at 5. Animals also gain a large amount of happiness from eating the grass outside, hence why you go through the trouble of letting them out in the first place. Finally animals will gain a small amount of happiness from being milked or sheared but like being pet it can overflow them to minimum happiness hence why you want to do it in the morning as well before letting them out to eat the grass.
Already a new part? Dayum, i like that! I like the other video-style with more cuts, this way some of the repetitive things of this game get kinda boring. 10/10 would still watch this.
I would love a Sims 4 playthrough! I recently got back into the game myself. Careful about all the bugs surrounding having a baby in the house. Lots of lag/actions not completing correctly so if you have those issues age up the baby.
I really enjoy this type of video but maybe you could just edit the parts out where you're walking somewhere and it would make the video move a bit faster- either way, I love your content no matter how you do it!
Also, I'll be sad to see fewer Stardew Valley videos, Completionist Farm is my favorite! That said, watching you play The Sims would probably be amazing as well.
One of the most appealing parts of your videos was the succinct editing that really rammed in the entertainment/content per minute. And I guess my attention span is so low I need that. It's not that this wasn't entertaining, it just isn't the unique style that attracted me to your videos so I'd vote for a return to previous style!
To be honest, I wouldn't have known that this was unedited if you hadn't told us ahead of time. I'm not sure what that says about the quality of your videos, but you did ask for opinions so here's mine. Anyways, thanks for the video!
Hey, just a random quick note on the wallpaper= prismatic shards glitch, I'm on xbox one and as soon as I pick a wallpaper from the catalogue, it shows me the item that it's attached to, like the first one is weed, the second one green shards, the third one a diamond ore, and everything else! The seventh one is a jade ore, the nineteenth is a daffodil, the seventeenth is a horseradish, the 21th is a leek (give to george, he loves it) and so on!
The Sims would be hilarious! Will you be doing 3 or 4? Also, if you want, maybe do an expansion back such as Pets, Supernatural, or Seasons? Love your content!
ok so right off you missed a mushroom lol but yeah i like your more funny stuff because lets face it your dangerously funny. you have been making great game choices as well.
i actually do like this way better. i know that its difficult to keep a continuous stream of thought for 20 minutes so its important that you keep it up if you want to develop that skill. i agree that your farming can be mostly edited out. i also would suggest a back log so that you can do something like editing more than one day. then cut those days into several videos to upload throughout the week. it would allow for you to be more flexible on recording times and get more continuous stream of thought practice. i look forward to seeing what you do regardless of my comment, especially when it comes to other games. keep up the good work.
I definitely like this style better, because your commentary sounds a lot more natural. However, it's pretty slow paced, so maybe some editing would be good, like you walking places or doing small, boring tasks.
I want you to do whatever's easiest for you! But I do have to admit, you're excellent with your jumpcuts sometimes. They make me laugh quite a bit with how dry your humor is
I don't mind not having any cuts but i can see you were struggling just a little to keep it flowing. I do prefer the videos with the the cuts, however I understand that you didn't have much time. :) It took a few minutes for me to get used to it though xD
I was going to ask about streaming until you mention it yourself XD Liked the style, but well, stardew vallet isnt the best game for this style, you said it yourselve, a lot of repetitive stuff. Would like to see a stream of the other games you play (sniper, skyrim, etc) Keep up with the excelent work!!!
I think this style could work but it would require a bit more planning beforehand such as deciding what you want to do, knowing where certain npc's will be, ect that way you have more structure and aren't fumbling to find something to do mid video. Hope this was helpful!
the new video style isn't bad, but the more edited one might be better for stardew, not sure about other games, but I'd say give a try to see if it could work.
although your edited shorter videos are the best imo, for this particular series this format is okay because if not this completionist series will run for another year. =]
I like this style as well as the old one. Sure, there are some hiccups in this new style and it feels different, but with time, you will get better and we will get used to it. The old style was more fast-paced and you could fit more days in, which are big pluses. But your commentary got a bit repetitive and aggressive recently and here you seem much more calm and fresh, which I like. :) As for new games: I would love to see Sims 4, some challenges maybe, but not too long ones. This would be nice. :)
Robin loves peaches, by the way, Gus loves oranges, and Elliot loves pomegranates, and all of those fruits are liked by every single other character, which makes them super good ways to build friendship.
I think your style of using cuts works a bit better! It probably works better to help you collect your thoughts, and you sounded a bit pressured to keep a consistent flow in this video. It's not bad, and it will definitely help you produce more content, but above all else you should stick to what makes you comfortable! Constructive criticism; This was still funny unedited, but not as good as edited, also the slower progress is a negative. If you have the time, edited video's for this series will be appreciated in the future.
Yeah this is pretty much what I expected
Couldn't agree more with the poster above.
I adore your stuff, DF. Maybe a happy middle ground is just cutting out parts where you're traveling from one place to another. Those seemed to be the only slow bits.
Josh Barkley agreed.
agree aswell
I love this persona of the guy who made a comedy channel and became popular by doing stardew valley videos
I personally like both, the comedy of the cuts is nice but I also enjoy just listening to you haha. But, tip, everyone (except for the children) like coffee! if you get a coffee bean they are insanely easy to grow and multiply.

Tombo NoLastName LMAO ikr

He doesn't know who anyone is
Kind of off topic but I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I saw your video on prismatic shard with wallpaper, so I tried it and it totally worked! I spent hours and hours trying to find one in the mines and always dying. Now I've got the galaxy sword it's so easy. So thank you again!
S. T. Schonfelder I got a galaxy sword from minding in the quarry
hi
Jac Pickard I got one there aswell but I donated it. I needed another one.
S. T. Schonfelder wow!
S. T. Schonfelder does it give you anything I have been wondering
Any format is fine. Your voice is calming and your since of humor is like mine.
Also I can't spell so if any of that is wrong… oh well
kyle hux *Sense not since, the rest is fine :)
I like both ways you've done your videos. In this one it's kind of relaxing, like I was working on my drama essay while watching it and your humor is still kind of good. In your edited videos it's more comedic and the humor is more constant, so a little less relaxing but definitely more humorous.
I love your videos, either way!
Play Don't Starve, It doesn't matter what edition you play. I just want a SUPER long Don't Starve Series!
yeah, that would be great to watch!
Or Oxygen not Included Beta, it's rather neat.
or play minecraft
I like both this AND edited down versions. Both offer different things and are great. I prefer the cut down version slightly more, but as a creator, I would like you to do whatever you're more comfortable with and what gives you more enjoyment.

Oh god, DF on the sims.
Can we rate it already?
YUMHardyABC Gaming he's gonna burn the house down within the first few days lol I can hear it now "well your an annoying person so I'm just gonna burn your living space down"
I love how he's being sarcastic when he has conversation with other characters. Maybe because his voice sounds so casual.
I like this style just as well! Especially when you're pressed for time. It would be harder to get through more than one day though if you were trying to do an experiment, but for the completionist series I think it's perfect! It does feel like a live stream 😊

Just a helpful tip: If you can remember to close the barn doors at night, I find it easier to milk/harvest the animals each day and then open their bar doors afterwards. Less hunting, and more time saved.
You're level of deadpan humor is unprecedented, and I love it.
George goes to the doctors' once a week for a checkup and once a week he goes to the church in Pierre's store.
Don't Starve might be interesting to see. It's a little rigorous to get used to before you can get super far.
Cool that you're trying a new video style. My advice is do what you want as long as you have the time and that you love what you're doing.
i love watching this dude's videos because his calming voice puts me to sleep
i had the first full nights sleep in the past week
thanks my dude
I appreciate the effort you are putting into improving your content.
I watched all of your vids and I enjoy rewatching them as well...learned a lot from you 😏
I know this video is old, but I don't know why "Garbage? Oh bread!" got me laughing so hard. I suppose just the pleasant surprise in your voice lol.
this video was still good, it was almost like watching a live stream without a chat. No one ever tells you editing is such a time eater. I hate doing it.
YOu did this while you were starting to get a cold?! Sweet child. Thank you for making this video anyway. ;.;

I think the important thing is that you be comfortable doing what you want to do. I think your viewers will come to see you because you are enjoying what you do.
Tbh, I didn't even realize it had only been one day until the end of the episode, but either works for me. Just do what works best for you.
Love this series....and your channel! Keep it up bro!
I'm really liking your content, style, and the fact that you're always looking for constructive criticism! :D
I love both styles and I am looking forward to seeing your stream.
Lol so awkward xD but it was hilarious, I was expecting cuts even though you said you wouldn't. Personally I prefer the cuts, but one of these once in while is fine! (And awkwardly funny)
I do agree it get a little dry when you are just running around but longer segments sounds good to me! like if you are mineing or other longer tasks
I like both ways, I don't really have a preference. I think you're hilarious either way~
Hey just wanted to say you don't need to worry that much about making mistakes. From what I have seen making mistakes makes you more relatable as a youtuber, makes you even more likeable.
YESSS The Sims would be amazing!!! You would play it in a unique way too, would be some fun :'D Can't wait!
I personally appreciate your casual commentary here, but I can see how some people would prefer the old style better :)
i prefer your edited videos, its no bullshit, straight to the point, and fast progress.
I don't mind having some videos unedited like this one every now and then. Though I preffer edited ones, these are still fun and enjoyable.
You + The Sims is going to be SO GREAT
I actually liked this style. Keep it up!
I think you should play Slime Rancher!
now I honestly dont know why, but I love this format. Keep it up (or not it's your choice as the creator) :P
I like watching these while playing Stardew Valley.
Here's a helpful tip:

(You Can Repeat the process and you can stay awake for as long as you want)
This kind of video works just fine, it may not be as amazing as your ordinary videos but it was still great.
Sims! Yes! I didn't even think of that but it would be fantastic with your humor!
I'd love a series or video on Don't Starve.
beware at the end of the video sound and image aren't synchronized anymore, it's barely noticable but it's obvious when you check your chests at the end of the video. I don't know if you can do anything about this without a lot of trouble
love the new editing style, fantastic video ^^
You know, I like this. It's more raw.
You speak good. I am jealous of how you speak casually.
I like both styles
I like both styles since your voice is calming. Maybe in the future you can continue the old style but supplement it with these type of videos.
I actually really like the new style of videos!
Yay birthday present to me! A new video thanks you shouldn't have :)
I'm sure you know this already but if you want the best animal products you need to pet and milk them first thing in the morning, then let them out, as well you'll close the barn doors at night as close to 5 as possible and go to sleep as close to 6 as possible.

I love your videos either way and I'll probably watch whatever you play. However it would be great to watch you play Don't Starve, edited or unedited.
Any plans for the upcoming Zelda ? Can't stop watching your videos, keep it up !!
LOL that moment when he gave Maru the eggplant. Like others have said, your edited videos are better imo.
I definitely like this style better, because your commentary sounds a lot more natural. However, it's pretty slow paced, so maybe some editing would be good, like you walking places or doing small, boring tasks.
While I really enjoyed this video, I want to support what is most comfortable and enjoyable for you. 😊
I want you to do whatever's easiest for you! But I do have to admit, you're excellent with your jumpcuts sometimes. They make me laugh quite a bit with how dry your humor is
I'm fine with this video style. Also, you could play tic-tac-toe xD
The Emerald Popcorn hell that's probably the only game DF could play and NOT get annoyed or mad at things in it!
Turtle Dude9 nah he would turn his X's into doves.
I don't mind not having any cuts but i can see you were struggling just a little to keep it flowing. I do prefer the videos with the the cuts, however I understand that you didn't have much time. :) It took a few minutes for me to get used to it though xD
Love this type and can u try the kingdom game or prison architect I think you will like them 😀
Oh no. The Sims in the hands of DF? I am excited.
I was going to ask about streaming until you mention it yourself XD
Liked the style, but well, stardew vallet isnt the best game for this style, you said it yourselve, a lot of repetitive stuff.
Would like to see a stream of the other games you play (sniper, skyrim, etc)
Keep up with the excelent work!!!
I like the old style but you do you dude xD
George is probably getting a checkup in Dr. Harvey's office. I don't think you have ever gone in there.
The Long Dark.... you would do great in that game.... maybe :D
Though this is old, on the 23rd of each season George is in the clinic getting a checkup from Harvey. That's why you couldn't find him. :)
oh man yes, i'd love to see the sims
If you livestream, will you be posting it to UA-cam afterwards? It would be nice for people that wouldn't be available during that time
I think this style could work but it would require a bit more planning beforehand such as deciding what you want to do, knowing where certain npc's will be, ect that way you have more structure and aren't fumbling to find something to do mid video. Hope this was helpful!
shane was in the thumbnail im here
"Let me what you think!"
In the description
You missed a fruit in your cave in the bottom right, right by the entrance btw. (did so last video too :P)
the new video style isn't bad, but the more edited one might be better for stardew, not sure about other games, but I'd say give a try to see if it could work.
although your edited shorter videos are the best imo, for this particular series this format is okay because if not this completionist series will run for another year. =]

This would be nice. :)
I really enjoy the original way you do the video edits. I'd still watch you tho if you did it this way.
Robin loves peaches, by the way, Gus loves oranges, and Elliot loves pomegranates, and all of those fruits are liked by every single other character, which makes them super good ways to build friendship.
