17.5" at 15:20 was just perfect timing! You literally were just saying where and how you were getting them, and put it immediately into action. Well played sir!
I don't think in the year I've been watching (and even going back and watching) your videos, I have EVER seen you on a wacky senko bite. Now I just gotta wait until Friday and THEN Monday for the rest of the vids! Congrats Greg!
Haha you know the upload schedule! If you go back to my very first videos you'll see all I through was pretty much a senko! Started experimenting with other stuff and got on a drop shot kick out here in California. I forgot how good a senko is!
EXCELLENT!! Thanks for taking the time and energy to give us the insightful perspective of your tournament experiences!!!! Very well done, as usual!! Can’t wait to see day 2. Purposelessly I have not gone to check the results of the KBF; that would ruin the experience. Thanks a million Greg. Best of luck Angel
Thank you, Angel! Really appreciate the feedback and it's cool to hear that the video portrays that kind of experience! Definitely don't check the comments in the coming videos or really any recent video lately as it will spoil how I end up in this tournament lol.
Greg, strong first day! I don't think I ever saw another kayak, just a boat toward the end of your video. You have a nice area all to yourself it seems. All of those fancy lures most of us use . . . and a simple 5" Senko does the trick. I bet you really stocked up on them! So many I'd guess that if you stuck them behind you to one side or the other, your kayak would be leaning a bit. Ha!
Thanks Brad! Senkos are just fish magnets! Yep, I think maybe just 1 other guy was fishing that same stretch of bank and he may have actually been fishing a bit further out from that bank. Everyone in that area launched from the same ramp and it was interesting to me to see how many folks either skunked or caught a few fish in that general area. What's crazy is all of the tackle shops were sold out of black/blue 5'' senkos that night. I guess having us there really did impact local business. I was lucky and one of the guys I was traveling with had 2 packs for me to use!
You influenced my decision to give hollow body frogs another try. Caught my first frisky frog bass of 2019, on one this morning, down here in Central Texas. Thanks, Greg! Keep the great vids coming. Can't wait. Peace, Brother.
sorry Steve! day 2 goes live friday and day 3 on monday. Wish I could post videos everyday but with a full time job and trying to maintain uploads every 3 days I gotta space out content when I can!
Greg I'm good waiting for videos every 3 days 99% of the time but for tournaments the wait for the 2nd and 3rd days just kills me. I get editing time but man the anticipation to see the results...
Sorry Bill! Honestly had to work 5 days straight as soon as I returned from the trip and I needed to space this content out a bit to stay consistent with the every 3 days deal!
Not to bad of a finish Greg for being “Uneasy “!!! Wish I could do that good...lol. Just playing, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! A little bit further and you would have been in the Land of the Giants here in South Eastern US.
You're the best man. Was looking forward to this and had high expectations and you're the man flat out. Glad to have shook you're hand. Day three will be insane I can't wait!!!
Greg I noticed you didn't fish the shade side of the standing timber. Thats where they are when sun is high try a ten inch blk blue swim tail. Fish have no eyelids! Better luck round two.
Larry Jones that’s actually not where they are in Louisiana that time of year. They are on the sunny side pulled up against the dark trunk that is absorbing heat from the tree. It was the pattern that the winner used too. The shady side will be good once the water temps get into the mid to upper 70’s. Just an FYI
@@ChadHooverFishing yeah never seen Greg fish flooded timber thought it might help him to get more bites, it's in the 70s in water temperature here in no. TX.
Senko always gets it done. I went all last year trying to NOT throw it, just to try a lot of different baits. But when tourney time comes....you can't really go wrong with filling a limit!
Great day. I saw that the winner targeted the lone cypress trees in the lake. I saw that you picked up a few that way. Let's see if you picked that up in day 2 and 3.
i'm from germany and watch all sorts of fishing videos but ur stuff is really the best out here... we don't even have bass here but since i'm watching ur videos and really wanna fish for them :D keep going ! i can't wait to see ur next tournament video !!! much love !
Really appreciate it Sander F! Interesting, had no idea Germany didn't have bass. I believe you have some neighboring countries with them but I could be wrong. Either way, tight lines!
As small minded as this may seem, I've downsized my gear to just senko, drop shot and frog set ups. And with all that, just a few colors and that's it.
Thanks Kyle! I think it should still be on TourneyX site! Thing was massive. Crazy thing was someone also caught a 24 on day 1 that actually looked heavier than the 25!
My brother ran out of senkos one day so started to wacky rig the swim senkos he had and the fish were slamming it more than the standard one. Give it a try next time
Great video. I have a question. Is catching spawning fish legal wherever you were fishing? Here in Southern Ontario, Canada we cannot largemouth or smallmouth bass fish until the spawn is over in the third week of June. Thanks and I always enjoy your videos. Tight lines.
Great question. Yes, it is legal here. I think a handful of the northern states have that rule but not exactly sure which ones since, since for example in New York, bass tournaments start as early as April where they obviously bring the fish in to weigh and then release.
I am just not a fan of catching, even if releasing, spawning fish of any type. Thanks for the quick response and continue your great videos and in my humble opinion you are by far the best of the you tube video fishermen out there. Your calm demeanor and true love for the sport make every fishing trip with you a pleasure. If you are ever in or around Toronto, Canada there are many great bodies of water that hold 6-8 pound largemouth. Tight lines
This year the spawn was way behind in New York l, like weeks and some of our lakes they haven't even started yet. I would imagine it's the same for Canada. In that instance the opening day meant to keep people from fishing for spawning fish wouldn't help.
Excellent video, Sir. Greg, since you been around and fished from the Titan 10.5, Titan 12, and the Slayer 13, how would you compare the three, assuming storing and transporting the kayak was not a determining factor? Thanks
Bro, thanks for the awesome coverage of your day on the water and bringing people this perspective for the KBF National Championship.
this is the "scott martin" equivalent of kayak tournament fishing, quality wise. LOVE it!
Thanks for the comment man! cool to hear since SM has got some killer content!
Wow!! Almost 100 inches for first!! Great job Greg!!

Awesome first day out there!!! All on the senko, hammering it!
Definitely one of my favorite channels. You inspired me to get the titan 10.5.
Thanks man! it's a great boat, you'll catch some good fish in it!
Dude you're KILLIN ME. Please put up all the days of the tournament. We already know where you finished, congratulations BTW.

Great first day!!! Your strategy to target bedding fish tomorrow should produce some bigger fish to move you up.
Awesome fish at 12:02 !!! Such a tank!
Wow... and then in the picture, look at the freaking shoulders on that fish :D
Haha you aren't kiddin' man! I thought when I netted the fish it was an 18-19'' fish! lol
Awesome Greg. Keep throwing the senko. Mark the big fish you lost on finder and get it the next day. Boom
I did man! lol
Spinning for the win! Congrats on your success Greg
Thanks Aliex, appreciate it my friend!
Liked and subscribed. My new favorite channel.
Wow very productive day…well day 1 in da books good job, keep it going🤙🏾🤙🏾
Damn, nice day Greg! Looked like a hell of a day on the water. Tons of fish caught. Thanks for the video
I like to think that the Sierra Nevada beer delivery played a roll in your success with the Senko bite. 🤣
oh it definitely did!!!!
Not to bad of a finish Greg for being “Uneasy “!!! Wish I could do that good...lol. Just playing, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! A little bit further and you would have been in the Land of the Giants here in South Eastern US.
Thanks so much man! 2 more days to go!
Great video Greg!!! You’re sharing your knowledge with us even when you are fishing the KBF Championship. Thank you!
Wow! Those fish were beautiful man. Love those grass bass.
On Caddo the bigger fish are usually in deeper water and on the Texas side. Not many 10 pounders on the Jeems side.
Damn good job Greg! But 1st standing at 99". Dude was catching monsters. Great job sir. Cheers and good luck.
Thanks man! Yep, some guys straight smoked em' each day!
Love the vids. I learn more watching you fish than having pros tell me how to fish. Keep it up.
Thanks John! that's a really nice compliment, i appreciate it!

Crushed it!!! Nice work Greg!
Hey, great job out there. Hope to see you at San Vicente.

I've found a new love for the senko!
I can't believe the fishing was that good and you ended up where you did in the standings... look forward to Day 2
Thanks for the spoiler.

and the crazy thing is I haven't really dedicated time to a senko in years! Glad I always carry a few packs for those "just in case" moments!

Holy shit is it competitive. People are killing it.
Ahhh inspiration for my tournament this weekend!!! Great job dude! Love seein you catch fish!!

hey, those combos will catch you fish everywhere in the country and almost anytime of the year as well (minus the frog).
Nice Greg! Keep grinding!

Amazing video! Can't believe you aren't higher in the standings... I wanna see a picture of that 25" bass the guy logged lol.
Thanks Kyle! I think it should still be on TourneyX site! Thing was massive. Crazy thing was someone also caught a 24 on day 1 that actually looked heavier than the 25!

Way to smash them Greg. Nice.

The stash has got to go Greg, don’t argue it just has to go
Lol, I'm having one of my best tournament years so far. when my luck runs out I'll consider shaving it off
Idk if its already over but you need to get a quick limit and thenThrow a big swimbait and a frog all day for a kicker

24" bass should weight 8.21lbs first place for sure caught a bunch of tanks. All but 1 weighed over 5lbs
