    Just wondering why this performance isn't more famous. Brilliant! They really nailed the high notes.

    Not many people realize how creative and brilliant these two brothers are. I mean outside of Norway but then again they dont need that recognition, they are happy and still make stuff and thats all that matters. Let people think they are just the guys that made the fox song while they were high, they are missing out at everything else they ve done and its their loss.

    What the fuck? As an east german it was very weird for me to stumble over a band called DDR singing The Fox in Stockholm in best Rammstein manner in german. So amazing. Never expected this.

      The "band" is called Ylvis. Their names are Bard and Vegard Ylvisaker. They are from Norway.

      There is a popular Norwegian group called DDE and the group DDR, lead by Atle Antonsen, started as parody of DDE but heavily East Germany oriented of course (since, you know, DDR) singing German translations of DDE's songs in a very serious/somber 1970s/1980s East German esthetic. Here they have Ylvis has guest performers doing a German version of their viral hit What Does The Fox Say

    I have so many questions
    Why do they speak almost perfect german? Whose idea was this? What was the occassion of this performance? WHY is there no studio version like this? Why is there literally zero information on the web to why and how this happened :D
    Anyway 10/10 best version

      TLDR: It's a guest performance at the final concert of another band.
      That is a loooooooooooooong story. It begins back in the 90's. Yes, really.
      Back in 1992, a band called DDE was formed. It became very popular. A couple of years later, on a comedy radio program called XL, a couple of the regular guests/hosts of that program formed a parody band called DDR as a comedy sketch, whose entire schtick was performing DDE songs in the "original" language, german. Because DDE, DDR, East Germany... Get it? All the members of the newly formed band DDR were norwegian, but pretended to be german and donned cold war era trenchcoats, because that would be funnier.
      It didn't take long until the original band DDE caught wind of this parody band, but luckily for DDR, DDE saw the funny side and said "That's actually quite funny" and gave them their blessing.
      So in 1998, DDR produced their first album, and DDR had evolved from being a simple comedy sketch on a radio program, to being an actual band, singing in german, and doing lots of concerts all over the country.
      Fast forward to 2017, after 3 albums, and decades of tours and concerts, DDR decided that they wanted to call it quits. A joke from a now defunct radio program from the mid 90's had gone on for more than two decades. So they decided to give one final concert, with loads of guest performances by other artists and bands. DDE, the band they had started parodying all those years ago, even joined them for the final song. ua-cam.com/video/VylMY2QAyyo/v-deo.html at about 1:25 the original band DDE joins them.
      Ylvis were quite popular at the time with "The Fox" and therefore they made a guest performance where they performed "Der Fuchs" in german.

      It can be added that the name of the band DDE in Norwegian pronunciation and in the band's dialect means "What it is", so it is not random. Makes it even more witty with DDR, which is dead serious.

      @Amphibiot 3 місяці тому +1

      @@ahkkariq7406 Yes, i concidered writing that fact in my explanation of that onion of a joke which has even more layers to it. That exactly the reason why XL came up with it in the first place. Differences in dialects.
