    Colbert is good here, not like on the Late Night or whatever it is these days. Turturro can really be funny, I used to not like him but am appreciating him a lot more, and of course Woody is a force of nature. The Gigolo movie was really funny.

      Colbert has gotten better on his show ... but then of course there was the pandemic. Colbert has a very broad and super fast mind, I think he was just not coached well when he started. He can really be hilarious, but also pay attention to the other people at the same time.

    I think about how great and universallly loved Woody Allen would be except for Mia Farrow continually shitting on his life and work. There is a great article defending him that came out a few weeks or months ago in the NYT ... maybe around the start or after 2020.

    • @HansDelbruck53
      @HansDelbruck53 3 роки тому

      Mia Farrow is so insignificant that no one pays attention to anything she says, especially after her unfounded allegations. Woody and his work will live forever, but the world has already forgotten Mia. She's already been consigned to the dust bin of history

    • @justgivemethetruth

      @@HansDelbruck53
      That's not really true. Mostly because of Ronan Farrow and his high profile slamming of his fake-father every chance he gets in the media. I think what Ronan Farrow has done is important work, but it is ironic and just nasty that it bounces back on Woody Allen. And maybe one of the things that pushes Ronan in that direction is his being told that Woody Allen was his father, and then he grows up to look exactly like Frank Sinatra. Mia's motivation for at least part of this was to get child-support for Ronan from Woody. Anyway, being consigned to the dustbin of history is hardly meaningful. I am sure I am already in that dustbin and probably you are too. ;-)

      @@HansDelbruck53 Well, dunno about 'the dust bin of history' bit as she does have a worthy body of professional work apart from her Woody era and a famed personal storyline - parents (both), marriages, causes, and famous children.
      But without a doubt it must be acknowledged that Woody both saved and resurrected her acting career, at that time.

    Fading Gigolo was a piece of perfection. What I noticed the second time I saw it with a friend who brought his wife, was that she was trying to make sure her husband did not appreciate it. Women who watch movies with their husbands that have beautiful women in them seem to have an agenda. It was depressing to be with them after the film. And he was too chicken to say anything good about it. Last time for them together.

    I used to think Allen was very funny til I started to smell the nihilism and spite underneath his humor. A trait he shares with others of his kind. Now I see him as corrosive and toxic.
