I’ve watched every video on your channel. Still revisit them every time I see one pop up. Keep em coming!! One of my favorites has to be you and Denny dragging over the log jams lol
And I appreciate the hell outta it man. I went on a trip earlier this year that made that one look like a cake walk. Didn't catch a thing, so I never ended up posting it haha
Thanks for taking us along! I'm taking the grandson pond fishing this weekend! We live in rural West Texas and theres not much water very close with the exception if town ponds!
@@RiverCertified haha yessir 👍 I believe you will in the future as well. Target those areas just below rapids more often. You will find many rewards . Enjoy your videos and enjoy fishing as well.
The thing you talk about around 3:41, i think Steve Douglas has a video about fishing his way downriver anchoring with a mindset very close to that. Like, spot to spot in the same ‘scent stream’ if you will.
Good video as always Chris that scran looked tops. That was a good gar as well Spencer. November I'm off out looking at catching Conger eels and Ray's 😊😊
Hey Spencer, best way I’ve found to deal with long nose and short nose gar is to wear a decently thick leather glove. Think like farm/fence leather glove. Grab them firmly by the beak and you will have great control of them, I’ve never had one make it through the glove, even the $5 harbor freight gloves. Keep up the good work!
You're really quite the guy Spencer. I get lots of enjoyment watching you fish and when you land the whales,we'll that's a bonus. That meal ya had made me hungry. I'm just like ya when it comes to storms. Minor ones not a problem, but when the lightening and Thunder and wind really whip,I don't like that. I went through a Cyclone many years ago in a tent and we barely escaped being blown into the Lake. Once is enough for that. Thanks for taking me along. Stay safe and God bless you and yours. 😊😊😊😊
I like the chopper coming in low. I was working (wish fishing) at a customer house and 3. A10 thunderbolts (warthogs) cruised by and banked 100 yards away at eye level. I was on a bluff and they were flying the lake channel. It was awesome.
That’s a nice flathead, I learn to like them because of you lol. That long nose gar was huge. Nice video, as always, my friend. I’m used to carry pliers and fish grip, we have a lot of toothy fish down here. I’m going fishing and camping tomorrow, hope to find some good fish.
With Chris's background id say he's one of the most mellowest dudes with a temper you know🤯. Glad he got one some fish. Any river that has gar that size seems to have healthy catfish as well. Weird correlation. Theres alot more of em big like that than people think cus they're hard to catch. When they're spawning a peice of cotton mope on big jig head will catch em cus it tangles in their teeth. Nice river and fish. They're still in down here. Seen a couple fifties this week. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏾
Now that you mention that, it does seem to be a running theme on big blue cat water especially. Glad you're still on the fish. I'm debating if I want to go kayaking or take the boat out next week. The flatheads might motivate me to hop in the kayak. Thank you for watching sir.
the gar was cool, nice to just occasionally get that random big unexpected fish. we get gar on rope lures pre-spawn. I died a bit when i saw that beautiful meal hit the sand. thanks for recovering a good chunk of it. Say hi to skip for me
Love these videos, I need to do some of these campout fishing trips next here in Illinois. Also, mutts can be the best dogs. Just depends on the ingredients being used, just like your coffee. Do you ever do videos of pros and cons of different rigs, when to use them, rigs for braid vs rigs for monofilament? When to use circles vs j’s?
Great trip. Saw a comment that said eat the gar. Is it a game fish?? I was afraid and i was just watching the video. A fish that big can hurt you. Wow. Happy to see you happy. Stay safe.
I caught a 41 pound flathead and I’m only 13 I go fishing all the time I seen Spencer using an acuma cold water reel and I got one my self I love it so far it’s indestructible thanks for the vid
Flathead love below old dams or rocky current like that . They actually will den in those bigger rocks under them . That spot should hold flats almost year round
I hated riding in those Chinook choopers! I told the crew that their was a hydraulic leak and they laughed and said good that means it's still has fluid! I wanted off the dang thing! Tight lines😊

@@RiverCertified TY! My neighborhood was extremely lucky! Kept power and was able to get some family so they could stay with us. Had more family and friends able to come by and get food/showers after cutting some trees etc! My home town (25min away) was hit pretty hard, especially with flooding. Then an hour down the road, Asheville was (the only word I know to use to describe it) tragedy as I'm sure you've seen online.
Should I try an 8' hole almost to the mouth of the creek next weekend for Flatheads. I fished the mouth a couple weekends ago & got skunked. In Michigan with daytime temps still going to be in the 70's. I have been successful lately in the main river. Looking for my 1st 40 LB Flathead & a channel Catfish over 30". Any tips on catching a 40, when I have caught 5 over 30?
I definitely would give it a try. If you're catching 30s, there's a good chance there's some bigger ones around. A 40 lber is a special fish no matter where ya fish. They don't come around all that often.

That was an absolute beast of a long nose gar! I've never seen one that big before. He was older than you I'd imagine.
