There's a reason remixes are made, and I can tell you right now, as a producer, I came upon this while searching to see if anyone had done it after listening to it randomly in a movie. I hadn't heard it in a long time, but now after having edm progressions and styles running through my head, I heard this classic and immediately started to construct my take on it in my head to make it more acceptable to the generation of today in a high energy, dance/party atmosphere. Not because I want to take credit for others art, but to build upon it and bring that history back into the fold. Most producers have serious respect for the torch bearers that came before them and honestly just want to take it to another level.
art isn't just fabricated out of nothing. people have been borrowing concepts from the art of others for centuries. don't believe me? try coming up with a concept that is completely original (as in, it has no aspect of it that was borrowed from another work)
