I would like to add to this that if you have just achieved lvl 100 and don't have the gear or don't feel confident enough for SR, a Twin Falls run on Ultimate (if you catch the Totem) will get you 0-2 legendaries and is really easy to do. I timed it and it takes me about 6 minutes from the main screen to complete. With my current Purifier build it's faster and easier than doing SR Normal 25-26. (The SR 25-26 takes me about 10-12 minutes in comparison at the moment)

Thus there are different rares. While farmng SR, I mostly interested in MIs. So, it would be interesting to count separately MIs with one rare affix and double rare MIs (double magic MIs are mostly not needed). It is almost impossible to find double rare MIs in the game, and the most consistent way to farm these is to farm high shards of SR in Ultimate. I was lucky to find several such things while running shards 75-77, but I don't have any comprehensive statistics, of course. Also, I would add, when you farm shard 77, you'll get 2 additional chests of reward, thus I usually run shards 75-77.
At some point I gotta ask, what is the end goal? Getting the best gear in order to Kill celestials on Ultimate? I haven't done that yet. If not that, then there is no ends, just means.

I don't know about evidence on paper regarding clearing more than two aside from general testing. 1 vs 2 is very different, you'll get less chests if you only do one and max chests when doing 2 (permitted you beat the timer). If you clear 5, you might get a little more loot but nothing to write home about especially considering it takes 2.5x longer. Also thanks for the kind words.
Is there a difference in the loot that drops between difficulties and shards? Lets say, for example, I'm looking to farm the Lost Souls set. Will it even drop on Elite/Normal? It's there a shard on ultimate below which it won't drop? Or, is everything just thrown into one big loot table and maximizing loot/hour the best strategy?
@@MikeFic Ahh ok. I noticed items will drop that are a couple levels too high for me but never 10+ levels. Gotta be like lvl 90 for lvl 94 items, I presume.

Tomb of the Heretic is probably your best bet. But they are pretty rare. There is a celestial smith near the lost oasis. And I'm like 90% sure you can craft them with eldritch essence...I think. Also dismantling unwanted legendaries is always good.

How do people do SRs this high? I mean its boring, repetitive grind...its horrible. Is there a way to start from a higher level? If I have to do say 70 SR's in a row I think I would lose the plot...though not having done it before is it longer or shorter than Arena?

this all makes sense, however it cannot be right. you are not accounting for the duplicate drops are you? i can spend 10 hours inside 40-41 running it over and over again and find 20x rebukes, that isnt 20 leg's thats a waste of time. have you taken into account unique drops at all? which by the way, seem to only come from higher levels of SR's? there is no point in sitting in an efficient SR shard based on your run time if you going to get the exact same items over and over again. this game clearly has a system in place where the 94 leg's and epics only drop from the highest content in the game. ive played this game for months and months every single year since release, i have never ever ever ever ever ever ever found a mythical marrow band. the day i get to 75 SR, it drops.
Drops have a lower duplication rate in same session SR clears. Stop resetting your game sessions and you'll lower your chance of duplicates. Your Marrow Band find in high tier SR was pure RNG. The only items that are confirmed to be locked by SR levels are the SR sets to my knowledge.

When you do SR do you have to keep the timer up? Or you can continue without timer?
I think you lose the bonus chest if you don't beat the timer.

Basically one big loot table. It'll drop everywhere permitted you are a high enough level for it tod drop. Even on normal.

Yeah you can use waystones from the blacksmith to leave off at every 5th shard.
