A grave error from a Professor of a reputed University. "Man is born free but everywhere is in chains" is the very first sentence of the renowned work of Rousseau, 'The Social Contract'. It's not Voltaire's sentence. I think this is known even to high-school students.
One correction: Voltaire did not say, "Man is born free but is everywhere in chains.". It was Rousseau.
