Had this whole comment typed out, and my phone crashed! So just going to say, love this bowl and the technique. The subtle colour showing on the outside finishes it beautifully. Thanks as always for sharing, Mike.
Thanks, apart from a bit on the base, there was no sanding on the outside. The small amount of tear out there was was blitzed by the burning and wire brush. I'll be making a few of these to sell. Easy to make and they look amazing.
I like the contrast between the burned outside and the natural wood on the inside. Looks very nice. From what I have read and heard is that boiled linseed oil contain metallic dryers and isn’t recommended for direct contact with food. Thanks for the great video!
Hi Jim, wow you are quite right luckily that bowl has not found a home yet so I will make sure to inform the customer when it is. I do appreciate you taking the time to point that out. All the best, Mike
Hi Mike from the past, I have been looking again at staining and colouring bowls; recently used ebonising fluid and blue dye on cherry, which gave a lovely deep greenish tinge to the black (more so on the end grain of course) - and then remembered this video you did, found it and enjoyed it again - I will give it a go for sure. PS am I too late to be entered into the 1000 subscriber giveaway??!!

Gorgeous result! You seem to have endless ideas, it's very impressive.
Thanks! Wait till you see next week ☺️
Beautiful! I love this method!
Is the finish similar to OB Shine Juice but without the alcohol?
Cheers Ted, yes it's very similar, I keep it thick so it's more nourishing to than glossy.
