    TODAY was one of my most favorite days out on the Wonderland Trail. Watch this video to see why. Those views we saw and the people we met along the way!!
    Also, any guesses on the album cover we were trying to re-create here at the Indian Bar Group Shelter? Take a look at the video's thumbnail and tell me in the comments below if you think you know.

    Sunshine and clear skies at Indian Bar through Summerland is always a special treat. Thanks for sharing your trip!

      It was so spectacular. I had no idea what to expect and was wowed at every turn, climb and descent. Loved, loved, loved this section!

    So glad it cleared up for you all! Indian Bar and that stretch of trail is the highlight of Wonderland Trail IMHO. However, with the sun comes the biting flies. In 2018 it was also the worst spot on the trail for that, but WELL worth it! Just amazing views with all the waterfalls. It almost seems fake, like some other planet in a Sci-Fi film...

      I didn't really encounter any biting flies until the last day on trail when we left White River Campground and headed up towards Sunrise. The flies in that section had a heyday with me.

    That was my favorite section and a picture of Indian bar is now my desktop photo. So glad the clouds cleared for you.

    I just can't get over the toilets along the trail. Wish we had those here in the wilderness areas of NM at the most popular destinations. .

      I think you have to have them in a place like Mount Rainier National Park. There's just so many people and it's the best way to manage all of the poop coming into the park. What's interesting is when I did my recent section hike along the PCT, Section K in Washington from Stevens Pass to Rainy Pass, I was able to use a privy everywhere I camped. Talk about great planning and LUCK!

    A good friend rode the Wonderland Trail with his mom, so many years ago when horses were allowed in the park. Wonderful memories! I would have gladly sold my brother to do that!

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  3 роки тому +1

      Whoah! That would have been so cool to see horses out on rail. I've seen them in various parts of the PCT and evrytime, all I can think is, "Man, I wish they'd pick me up so I wouldn't have to carry my own stuff up this mountain." Hahahaha!!

    Awesome! I love your videos and that you have such a great attitude for living life! You have proven that one does not need to survive on expensive trail food but can make great food from the shelves of Walmart. Now, I think I will go and doctor up a chili Ramen....you made me hungry! LOL!

    I started backpacking this year so for my first trip I wanted to stay low mileage… I did summerland > Indian bar > summerland > back to th. Hiking through the panhandle gap on the 3rd day after it being COMPLETELY socked in on the 2nd day will forever be one of my favorite experiences. Loved reliving that in this video. So beautiful!!

      I absolutely loved this area. I had only heard about it and had never seen it, neither in photos or in-person before our trip. Glad I got to see and experience this place with my own eyes for the first time because it was quite magical. I loved how otherworldly it looked. Reminded me a lot of the Sierra.

      It was so crazy because the day before conditions were so bad and there was still enough snow to have us CONSTANTLY checking gps to make sure we were still on trail… so to hike through it totally clear the next day was almost mind blowing! Like… you’re telling me I was in this exact same place yesterday and had no clue this was what was around me?! Awe-inspiring! Thanks for sharing your trip. I’d love to do the whole thing one day

    Okay so I’m watching this to motivate myself to go for it and try a full circuit this summer but I just had to comment and say that I fell on LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME SPOT that you were talking about in this video on a day hike to panhandle last summer and I was laughing so hard when that part of the vid came up because …. Same 😅😅 also love your vids!!!

    Are there always that many hiker tents crammed into every campsite? Gotta admit, that's a deterrent for me. But the trail looks amazing!

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  2 роки тому +1

      The amount of hikers at a campsite along The Wonderland Trail depend on each group's size. Our group was a party of 4 with four tents so we were pretty cozy with each other at the campsites.If you don't want to be close to the people in your group when hiking The Wonderland, either hike with a smaller group or share tents.
