I appreciate videos like this.... i also find it super interesting that most people who are willing to be honest about it all say weller SiB is just a SiB of special reserve. CYPB and Full proof are the true kings (besides WLW obviously)
Just this morning I recorded a video on fighting the FOMO (when I'll upload it I don't know yet 🙂). I've never had any trouble with FOMO, partly because I have a small budget, and partly because I have a congenital distaste for doing what everyone else says I ought to do. 🙂 2:18 I'm sipping on a glass of Dickel No. 12 right now. I don't get any Flintstones from it, nor anything mineral. I do get pecans - the Dickel No. 8 was the first whisky I ever got any kind of nutty note from - but no one else does that I've ever heard. I think it's good juice, myself, though a lot of people clearly disagree. 🙂 That Dickel bourbon is awful stuff, though. No wonder the barrels don't fit the regular profile - those are the bad barrels. 6:44 I have a memory like a steel sieve, and have had all my. I can always remember useless trivia, but the important stuff just won't stick. 😂
Some day i will have to try some more Dickel and see if i am still sensitive to the mineral note... as expensive as whiskey is getting, the aged Dickel seems to still keep their stuff relatively affordable!
Blue run is the worst . Thankfully I didn’t buy a bottle but got a sample from a friend and it was a total disappointment. My friend who gave me the sample was equally disappointed.
Those McKenna's are hit or miss I've been told... we have had 2 of them, and like them both... but I wouldn't say they were great. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
I'm not a fan of the 8yr Dickel but I've tried the barrel select in a restaurant and enjoyed it. FOMO is a struggle in the whiskey world. I've overpaid for a couple Buffalo Trace products that just sit at my house.
We got the remus 5. Never saw the 6. And grabbed a 7... they were both very hyped, and we like them, but i dont think either live up to they hype (i guess thats another video idea).
FOMO!!! We have purchased so many we don’t like, not that it isn’t good (to others), it just doesn’t suite our palates. We’ve gotten to the point where we really want to taste before buying. It is becoming harder to do that though. Pubs or bars don’t get new stuff and stores won’t open new bottles due to price increases. So no samples. 😢
We are transitioning to more single barrels from clubs and channels whose palates we typically align with. less disappointment when its something that a group has picked than taking chances on random bottles
I don’t buy anything because of the look of the bottle or FOMO. I’m to the point in my whiskey journey that I’m satisfied with my stand by bottles. Most are under 60 and many under 25. I have never camped for whiskey nor will I. I’m retired and I still don’t have time to just sit around for a bottle of whiskey to drop. My area gets pretty good selection and it’s what I drink so I’m okay. Good luck!!
We have bottles that we will always replace because they are ones we have found that match our palates perfectly.... but there is something fun and exciting about trying to find that next "hidden gem" I wish we had your ability to fight that FOMO for sure! Cheers and thanks for your comment!
I am suffering from FOMO. Deb had to have the Blue Run Reflections and it's not good. Some guy at a lottery vouched for it. WRBP are ok but not for $150. I like WRDO. I want the Weller Single Barrel but refuse to pay crazy money. I can wait. Yes, I want the vertical.
we paid way too much for it (not that much though) but haven't opened it yet. We have so many to get to. I like to open them when we make a video. I have a couple dozen to open (some from July). @@TroyfromBakerDrinks
lol, I actually like Contradiction Smooth Ambler, especially for the price point. Haven’t had their Rye but I’d like to try it out. I certainly know how you feel though. I’m with you on blue run, a little pricey but is it wort the price??? Having a good sense of humor is key. FOMO is brutal 😂.
Bad fomo purchases are certainly much more stomachable when the price is under 50, but i still hatr wasting money on whiskey i will never drink again after the initial crack. Thanks for watching, and if i ever end up with another contradiction, i now know who to gift it too! 🥃
Mine was three years ago. I never saw a Pikesville Rye anywhere! Finally find one. It was just ok. Then over a three month period it evolved into the equivalent of licking an extremely sappy pine tree! 😝🤢🤮 I will not be replacing that one. Cheers Baker's 🥃🥃
It's very likely you dodged a bullet when you left it on the shelf... but who knows, you may like it! I should send you some... along with a refill of the Balcones CS Rye! 😂
I wish i could get the person who put out Blue Run in a grappling match to make suffer the same way i suffered trying their High Rye bourbon. It’s so bad
One for me is Milam and Greene Triple Cask mostly very positive reviews and was a head scratcher for me. Jim Beam Single Barrel and Green River wheated
As expensive as they have gotten, im likely out on all of them as well... till i need a refill of the double oak, and i may have to look for a good pick to replace our. Cheers! 🥃
Isn't FOMO a bummer ! I thoroughly enjoy Widow Jane 10 and wanted to get my hands on a bottle of Decadence (I believe this bottle was your first video review) and looked everywhere. Until David at Whiskey Bank found it for me. From what I was hearing from most of the reviews including Trenton on SLB it should have been my jam. But what I experienced was so underwhelming that I was embarrassed to have put in so much time looking for it. It wasn't bad, just not really worth the effort. FOMO what a drag. Thanks again for the content. Dana So-Cal
The maple flavor on the decadance is subtle... and drinking it blind, i struggle to pick any finish out. But when i know its there, it becomes obvious. Weird how our minds work! Ive heard the earlier batches are a lot better too- Ours is batch 2 i believe. I also feel let down more often than not when i listen to the hype about something and set my expectations too high - i feel hype may be worse than fomo in some cases! Anyway, thanks for watching! 🥃
I really like the five malt but I'm a huge stout drinker. On the dickel I really like the 13 yrs bib. Don't get the 11 yrs bib not as good and the 8 is below both of them in taste to me.
Our little bubble of channels and friends has legit changed my hunting habits with the crazy volume of great samples! Thanks so much for all of your support! Cheers! 🥃

The cypb is the one we havent tried yet... but as far as the single barrel goes, ours is a dud. Thanks for your comment! 🥃
Great video...I watch whiskey tubers for this type of information and the love of a great pour. Thank you 🥃❤️🥃
Well i hope we were able to save you some money! Thanks for watching! Cheers! 🥃

We just did a Dickel 9 year bourbon pick. Didn’t notice a lot of vitamin notes. Will have to see once the bottles come in. Great vid guys! Cheers!!!
well let us know how to get one when they are ready... always love supporting our friends, and maybe we need to give dickel another chance?
Blue run is the worst . Thankfully I didn’t buy a bottle but got a sample from a friend and it was a total disappointment. My friend who gave me the sample was equally disappointed.
Glad you didnt have to spend any money on a bottle! 🥃
Henry Mckena 10yr for me. When I finally found it for retail price I was pumped. Took it home and sampled it….bleh.
Those McKenna's are hit or miss I've been told... we have had 2 of them, and like them both... but I wouldn't say they were great. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
Its good to sample out bad bourbon so people know it’s bad rather than hearing its bad
Also, just because we may not like a particular whiskey, someone else may love it!

Too bad there isnt a return policy for whiskey we dont like!
Remus repeal 6 and Bardstown disco 6, both of them were 100% fomo and disappointing

@@bakerdrinks same. Reviews for people like me and my friends are important. We don’t have tons of extra cash to drop on product.

We are holding out on cypb... i know where 4 of them currently sit for anywhere from 5-9 hundred! Im looking more in that msrp -ish range.

Great video guys! We all fall to FOMO at some point or another. Cheers 🥃
I wish i fell for it a whole lot less! Cheers Carlos! 🥃

Oh wow. And I feel like ours tastes like a super sweet bourbon. People went crazy for it for a while and no one talks about it anymore
@@bakerdrinks You are correct. Nobody talks about that one. 🥃
I saw that Woodford 5 malt and passed on it. I was super curious, but it sounds like I made the right call!
It's very likely you dodged a bullet when you left it on the shelf... but who knows, you may like it! I should send you some... along with a refill of the Balcones CS Rye! 😂
@@TroyfromBakerDrinks well, I already have the balcones rye sample!
I thought of one... the Still Austin Red Corn Summer Blend. It's just OK.
And I only heard crazy good things about that 1!
@@bakerdrinks I don't think I'm the only one... Bryan and Lauren gave it a medium review... like a probable pass on buying it.
I wish i could get the person who put out Blue Run in a grappling match to make suffer the same way i suffered trying their High Rye bourbon. It’s so bad
Yeah, not great... beautiful packaging. But mediocre whiskey!
One for me is Milam and Greene Triple Cask mostly very positive reviews and was a head scratcher for me. Jim Beam Single Barrel and Green River wheated
You are doing great if those are your only bad fomo purchases! Im sure they all taste great with coke! 😂 🥃
I dont buy anything woodford anymore.
As expensive as they have gotten, im likely out on all of them as well... till i need a refill of the double oak, and i may have to look for a good pick to replace our. Cheers! 🥃
FOMO fills the shelves. Just hide the real good stuff when people come over.
😂😂😂🥃
FOMO has gotten us all!
FOMO has gotten me way too many times 😂
I wish these 5 bottles were our only bad purchases... its not even close. They were just the most memorable! Thanks for watching Hunter. Cheers! 🥃
Another good one Bakers! For me, Woodford's Historic Barrel Entry - on my palate its all tobacco and not the good kind - that's my FOMO and regret.
I liked that one a lot when we first got it, but it got real malty tasting with a fishy finish... thanks for watching! 🥃

FOMO is my middle name. 😔 Dickel 13 Year BIB 🤮 Never pulled the trigger on any Blue Run. 🥃
Haha you are the king of FOMO!
I really like the five malt but I'm a huge stout drinker. On the dickel I really like the 13 yrs bib. Don't get the 11 yrs bib not as good and the 8 is below both of them in taste to me.
Good to know, thanks!
Love the video, and FOMO sucks..... Fight the FOMO......
Thanks for watching Delan! Keep fighting the good fight buddy! 🥃
There is not a worse feeling buying a sought after bottle to only be disappointed when you get one.
FOMO is a very dangerous drug 🤣. Blue Run bottle... I almost caved in many times, but luckily not yet... Thanks for the video!
I am finding it harder and harder to justify the purchase of bottles in that "luxury" whiskey category (100+). I am usually just disappointed...
I spent way too much money on fomo!
Haven't we all!
The 5 malt is a tricky bottle! Those bottles have really stuck around on the shelves. I’ve almost bought the 5malt mistake. Get video, cheers!
Thanks for watching! Keep fighting that fomo, the 5 malt is crazy weird!
Thanks to you tube I have been able to miss out on FOMO mistakes
Watching other people review whiskey has caused most of our fomo! 😂🥃
I’d have FOMO about the Weller…
It doesnt taste the best, but it does look great on the shelf!
Traveller Whiskey ....😂🥃love Chris Stapleton thankfully only paid $36
Im sure that bottle shocked a lot of people... what were they thinking??? Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
fomo has gotten me a few times
Unfortunately, im sure it has gotten us all! Thanks for watching Dave! 🥃
FOMO has done us all at one time or another. That’s what samples are for LOL 🥃🥃😎
