didnt seem like a very fast takeoff

short flight=-less fuel weight, BWI in April=low density altitude, plus likely a strong headwind creating a lower groundspeed - allows a shorter takeoff roll, appearing not that fast, climbed nicely after lifting, so again likely into a stiff headwind.
