I saw the Stones at the Garden in late ‘81. Actually had to mail in postcards to be considered for tickets. So much easier and cheaper than what one has to go through nowadays. Much as I appreciate some modern-day conveniences, sometimes simplicity was better for other things!
One of the first ads in this block ties astutely into the New Year, and the resolutions that go with it. A spot for Chinese food, and one the totes how they’re crammed with veggies.
1982 my brother and mother both worked in Rockways Play Land , we had the Sharp GF-9090c boom box , Technics SA-205 Stereo Receiver, Technics SLB-10 turn tables, Sharp RT-10 tape deck, Ken Wood LSC-4000 spkrs...I had all to my self was great year for music and TV 1982 I found happiness
You know, I gotta wonder - between 1981 and 1990, did Pocono Action Park (Tannersville, PA) ever advertise? Even Great American Recreation's shorter-lived Action Mountain in Pine Hill NJ had TV spots at one point, so I would be totally shocked if they decided for Pocono Action Park to not have TV spots at all.
The 120 Music Masterpieces commercial ran for years before 1982... That Thrifty Beverage place is still there but probably under different management...
I graduated high school in 1982. And I saw that stones tour end of 1981.

Hard to believe this will be 40 years soon. 😂
I was 12 years old...it was definitely a happy new year for me because I didn't have responsibilities like now at 51 years old 😳
WPIX 11 Alive early cable TV, loved watching Honeymooners, Twilight Zone, and 3 Stooges every night while in college.
"The Odd Couple" too, right?
And Star Trek
We didn't get cable until the following year.
