Good pilot, good to see him have all the details of the ship at his fingertips including the structure and skin makeup. So glad rigid airships are back in the air. I'd love to fly with that guy.
Come on, Goodyear... You know you want to get back into the building of those classic big rigids.. Just introduce them for trans-ocean freighting, to begin with.. Then after some time and seasoned designs, and plenty of trained crews... Diversify. But, if nothing else, we need to get something nice and clean, going for freighting across the oceans, though. You can do this, Goodyear. You could become the Boeing of airships. So there were some bad events with those old-days rigid airships. We lose big commercial heavier-than-air craft frequently, and that industry keeps building and moving forward. Be the change!
Brilliant reply Carl! I totally agree!! Also, Airships can economically transport bulky light freight such a s produce, from California to the East Coast of the US.
Goodyear is LITERALLY not legally allowed to design and construct their own airships. They sold their aerospace division to Loral in the 1980s to avoid being taken over. That means they have no means to design new airships. And the new Zeppelins they have? Sub assembled in Germany by Zeppelin. Re-assembled in Ohio by Goodyear. Believe me, I wish it wasn't so. :(
if anyone knew Goodyear lighter then air history when the big black hanger was built in south Akron in the early 1900 it had the Goodyear/zeppelin across the top of the hanger so it natural for them to go back to there airship roots on these fine airships of the sky
You like Graf Zeppelin do ya? When comes to flying you don´t have to be straped on the chair like in plane and enjoy the free walking and stuff. But airships have risks you know that. I suppose you know what happened to Hindenburg?
This was an amazing experience and thank you for sharing the video and interviewing the pilot, but it sounded like you were a bit short with him and came across as a bit too aggressive. Your question sounded kind of demanding like "tell me!" instead of "could you please explain to me how"... Just some feedback that you may not have been aware of how you're coming across!
lovely trip.. amazing ship. I would love to know how they control the bouyancy (with more or less people), or is all about engine power? The ballonets had some active pressure control to change the bouyancy? There is other way to control the pitch or only the engines?
AngelLestat2 yes they rely on the engines to compensate for most of the weight change with minimal ballast. There is some Pitch control on the fins for minor Corrections or easy long maneuvers but for Sharp turns or faster Maneuvers they swivel the engines.
The 5 levers you see at the top contoll the buoyancy. There is a large air bag inside the main gas bag, which when inflated makes the helium in the main bag more dence therefore giving it less lifting power. The three blue levers controll those bags, and the 2 red levers controll the venting of helium gas.
It's MUCH quieter in the cockpit -- especially in the zeppelins. The older GZ-20A model I flew for about 5 mins was louder. The crew flew it with the windows open. Thanks for watching!
Fly silent, nicer! You are now using 3 explosion motors on a Zeppelin NT? And 100L of fuel for 5h flight? Thanks to my innovation of 100 times stronger batteries than before, it shold be possible to go electric with 100 kg batteries and still fly 5h. I testing 72V motors are better for 50hp than 36V. they are using in cars in addition to conventional motor. They dont know this batteries yet. Just trying to spread a better environment. But they are patented. A small fee to me because makers did not buy the patent yet. They will soon be dead. Batteries made by Saga enterprises Norway.
An electric solution is (in parts) possible but the airship will not be a single decibel quieter. We still have four propellers on that airship, making still a lot of noise.

It's NOT a Rigid airship. It's a NON-RIGID airship.
@@willsco76 NT's are rigid with a three-girder frame. They are a step up from semi-rigids.
i have so much respect for pilots
Fantastic way to fly! Thanks for sharing, and greets from the Netherlands.

Airships are hard to bring back in service cause they had huge operation costs but relatively small lifting ability.
if anyone knew Goodyear lighter then air history when the big black hanger was built in south Akron in the early 1900 it had the Goodyear/zeppelin across the top of the hanger so it natural for them to go back to there airship roots on these fine airships of the sky
Very nice.
Thank you
it is all electronic conaltor
I didn't know Bill Hader flew blimps.
ECML119 versatility!😂😂😂
it sound's really cool
Great craft
Who knew Bill Hader could pilot a blimp.
I think airships are beter than planes
Lolkowski Lol Not better than the 737MAX8
@@as-guardianangel9360 dark humour
Lolkowski Lol yes and jesus is black
they are not better but they are way cooler. and they were invented by the same man who invented the airplane (santos-dumont)

With all the technology now available why not a full size airship?
Because black lives matter. That's why
You want Zeppelins and Hindenburgs in the air do you? I am in.
The Airlander 10 in the UK. Currently under construction.
Because they don't want you to be free
Your average Joe will never rate a trip in the blimps. Only the big wheels.
Whant see it in BELGIUM ?

@@ThomPatterson Only 5 minutes? Did you jump out? lol.
Sounds like a helicopter
21 millon dorller's for the zeppelin nt
Where did the ground crew go ?? Get fired??................
Yep
Sad that's what made them special
Helium filled not hydrogen hydrogen very flammable
Hindenburg's younger cousin
Nope.
