Those women in golf carts have a lot of significance-this took place at a huge, huge retirement community in Florida (several hundred thousand residents) called The Villages. The Villages have been synonymous with Trumpism and Republicans. So this Kamala rally is a huge thing!
Our senior men were there also.

IMO, Mayor Pete’s skills would not be utilized as well as a VP role. With his intelligence, diplomatic skills and his Fluency in seven languages I think he would be a commanding Secretary of State. He is a highly skilled politician
Pete Buttigieg isn't Mayor Pete anymore, he's the Secretary of Transportation now. I don't think he is interested in becoming VP right now anyway. It might hurt VP Harris' chances with some moderate voters. The country isn't ready for a woman of color as POTUS and a gay VP. Maybe in 4 years, but not now. It will be interesting to see who President Harris appoints as Secretary of State though. Pete might be in the running there.

I’m 65 and am delighted to have Harris as presidential nominee! I am in Florida, we women and the men who love and respect us are voting blue. We are angry that Desantis signed a 6 week abortion ban in the dark of night, He signed legislation that takes away women’s alimony. He denied people who are in prison in state tuition. The list goes on. Our rights are on the line as is democracy. My grandchildren’s rights depend on our vote!🙏🗳🌊

She's had 160,000 volunteers come forward in the last week. Plus, hundreds have gone to their congressman's offices and asked how they can help. There are about 600 who went to an Illinois Congressman's office. The way they are getting put to work is getting on a bus and going to Michigan to knock on doors. Going where they're needed! The Villages in Florida is a traditionally very red area, so this massive blue gathering brings hope of flipping Florida blue.

I am retired and living in Florida along with three of my adult children. I hope our votes will not be wasted, which is usually how I feel voting in this Rep. state.
These volunteers are going to be crucially useful in catching out maggots who are going to pull dirty tricks to skew the voting numbers. That's a big part of their strategy, from what I've read.

The villages have been known for being extreme Trump supporters now the tables have turned, and it is absolutely thrilling!!

Speaking as an old person, I remember y Dad telling me at 8 yrs old to never vote Republican because they weren’t for us, but for the wealthy. They tried to hit the lower and middle class because they only catered to the rich. This was in the 50’s. He was a unionized member of a major meat company and the repubs were trying to end all unions. That was what brought that subject up. Over the years nothing has change with them. They will are SS public as a way of eliminating the elderly. We can’t give them that chance!

Do you know what I’ve noticed this week? People smiling out in public. People being friendly. The energy is different in the air. Two weeks ago. The energy was much much different. Although it was really hot, that could also be a factor. But man people were cranky. People are mean and nasty. What a difference two weeks makes I went for a walk tonight with my dog and six different people went out of their way to wave to me to say hi. People I don’t know. I got home and said to my son I don’t know what is going on out there But all these people are waving to me.

The women in the golf carts are residents of a large senior retirement complex in Florida called The Villages, that has notoriously been pro Trump. I was overjoyed to see the Democrats rally together and make a stand, instead of staying in the back seat where they have been.

Nice to see you Maryann. I’ve been watching US Senate Judiciary hearings archives - Sen. Harris questioning during hearings, including Brett Kavanaugh and James Comey. She is impressively intelligent, insightful, thorough, fearless, and unflappable.
I watched it as well. She’s sharp and straight forward. She had Kanavaugh on the ropes. I was very impressed with how she just went full truth on him. She knows what she’s talking about. This woman knows the law and she’s on it.

I saw a clip this morning from Pres. Ford in 1989. He nearly perfectly described the way in which our first female President will come into office. It was pretty amazing. He also said that he thought that once she has been elected, men may be hard pressed to be nominated.
I hope so. We need more women in power as things will be better such as no unnecessary wars. Women will help bring peace and balance to the world I believe. We would be working together, not like trash tRUMP/jd are spewing about women. Most women work much harder than a lot of men, especially mothers. Secretary Pete and his spouse Chastain have 3 yr old twins. Bring VP in the US means 16 hr days every day. He said he’d be honored to be chosen, but I’m pretty sure, He’s not expecting to be chosen. I’m absolutely sure that the US couldn’t handle an election ticket like that. However, I’m pretty sure he will have a cabinet post. Women were not cowering in the 70s and 80s. We were demanding rights and burning bras. And I might be in my 70s but I feel like I'm 35, youngster.

Australian singer Helen Reddy came out with "I am Woman!" in May of 1971 and it was an instant hit in the US because it perfectly expressed what we women were feeling and projecting at that time. We definitely were NOT cowering! I was 26 then, 79 now and loving this resurgence of female energy and confidence and capability!
@@bonnierussell9798 in Australia in the 70’s women were definitely excluded from certain jobs and were not on equal pay. Airline ‘hostesses’ couldn’t continue in their jobs when they married. There were only one or two women in politics. There was no support for women in violent relationships. It was a very different time and one we don’t want to go back to.
This 60 something agrees. I might not have burned my bra, I got Dolly Parton sized bust so a bra is a must, but my parents taught me I could do anything I wanted. No cowering for this girl.
We still don't have equal pay. And I know many women who were cowering in abusive marriages, back when the police wouldn't even come out for domestic violence calls.

As an American, I am relieved and overjoyed that our VP is running. I have thought for a long time now that women will bring this race in and young people will energize everyone, which has been needed for over 30 years. We need new people in our government, new laws and reforms, and I believe that SHE is the person to get that going. It’s funny bcs I’ve never been a fan of hers, but I am now! She has a certain finesse in her way of getting things done; directed questioning/work with an ability to see and understand social needs.
