Fantastic film, these two play off each other spectacularly and it's a real treat to see Lugosi as an anti-hero. That ending had to have been the most brutal possible way they could have done it in the 1930s.
RIP Bela Lugosi (October 20, 1882 - August 16, 1956), aged 73 And RIP Boris Karloff (November 23, 1887 - February 2, 1969), aged 81 You both will always be remembered as legends.

They did not have issues with one another and people need to stop spreading false information. Bela and Boris had a great relationship, idk where this rumor is even coming from. Do some research people.
Yeah, Lugosi had a harder time having consistent quality work despite his incredible talent. Karloff often got a lot more good parts and Universal seem to give him a lot more attention. I think some assumed that this meant there was tension between the two, but this was a myth.
This film is so remarkable on many levels, it has a fairy tale dream quality, beautiful classical music, with John Masscall's brilliant camerawork, lighting and shadows, and the art decor of the house has a character all it's own. The score using classical music is truly amazing. And having two of the greatest horror stars in top form ( arguably the greatest duel proformance in horror history) makes this film legendary.
One of the things director Edgar G. Ulmer wanted to point out was the broad chasm between the nihilistic Europeans (who were recovering from a devastating World War) and the naive Americans.
As a kid in Denver in the late 50's, the ABC channel 9, had a show every Thursday at 1100PM, called " Shock " . Sometimes, Dad would let me stay up & watch whatever the film was. This classic is one of the very best. -------------------MJL, 77 y/o
I gave this a thumbs down because the very important part was chopped off. The Hays Act didn't affect the movie. Is FB now censoring old movies?? For Shame!!!!
how nice! Now watch " Boris Karloff drops 5 year old Donnie Dunagan interview" Also: "10 DISTURBING Frankenstein Facts the Boris Karloff Fans Don't Want YOU to KNOW!"

This film messed with my brain when I first saw it at the age of 14 and it still does (I'm 62 years young now). Absolutely love Boris and Bela 💖💖
Lie s KHalmar all lies
So you watched this movie in 1974?? Right??
Bela and Boris in the perfect movie that highlighted their monumental talents.

Kings of horror.
I love Karloff's slow, flowing style of movement.

Everyone knows to be clean nowadays and from the 30's.
It came from “ed wood” movie 😂😂😂
@@SeanTwyman-me2gh Such a hot movie Twins of desire
@user-yp6dy4df8w , Karloff had a large advantage in that E English was his native language! One reason, with few exceptions, Lugosi was typecast
This film is considered an art deco horror/noir masterpiece.
These two were friends in real life but they look like enemies

Two G.O.A.Ts of the horror genre in the same film!?!?!?!?
They made six or seven films together.
Karloff never measured up to Bela Lugosi, but he was an ok sidekick to the Master Vampire & King of Horror!
The furniture, pure Bauhaus. The ending ....
Captions be like:
"She died two years after the war."
"Wow, of pnumonia" 🤣
Outstanding scene…Dark excellent film
This movie is such a fun watch. And that ending… 🔪🐈
Bela 😍
I wish the film was only about them and not the honeymooners.

Excellent Noir movie !

The kings
Why did the film end when it wasn't over?????
Who would be your choice for actors to play Lugosi and Karloff in respective biopics?
Ya ever have one of those days ?
I gave this a thumbs down because the very important part was chopped off. The Hays Act didn't affect the movie. Is FB now censoring old movies?? For Shame!!!!
And Dublin, is not my forte, but a fortunate circumstance can come!❤And Belfast,is a little less my forte!
