I just noticed the crates falling on Cortex's head at 4:20-4:28 is sly reference to Crash 1's result screen when Crash or Coco missed a box or two and the boxes fall on their heads. lol XD
Coco in your picture profile is looking at the boxes falling on Cortex's head instead of Crash and Lani-Loli falling. LOL

I think that Cortex didn’t exactly think to hard about how time travel works when he decided to kill present Crash. Despite being a scientist whose definitely came up with some amazing accomplishments, he’s pretty incompetent most of the time, which is why he seemed to think that if he can’t convince his past self to not promote Crash, he’ll have to kill present Crash, instead of past Crash. Even Crash himself looked pretty confused when hearing this ridiculous logic from Cortex 😆
Or Cortex could of zapped Crash into jello/brick back in the Futurama dimensions while the gang where having a conversation. Granted it won't kill Crash but Crash can do anything in jello form. You're welcome gaming sins
I think he wanted to kill present Crash, to stop Crash from stopping him kill past Crash.

Cortex's statement about having to kill Crash Bandicoot instead of killing his past self actually makes complete sense but he phrases it in a way that it sounds comical and convoluted lol

I mean, he helped Crash defeat N Tropy, and now he tried to erase Crash from existence!!?? Wait, shouldn’t Coco cease to exist too? And should Aku Aku still be trapped on N. Sanity Beach? And since the Cortex Vortex wasn’t made or blown up, should Uka Uka remain in the underground prison?
The more I think about it, the more I realise that Cortex is an incredibly tragic character
We know from this game specifically that he wants out of this endless cycle of trying to defeat Crash and losing every time, but to truly break the cycle would be to ignore his inner nature as a villain
Like Sisyphus forever rolling the boulder up and down that hill, he’s trapped in an endless downfall of his own making and most likely will never be freed from his self-inflicted torment

That's not how time works.
Am I the only one who found this boss fight to be extremely underwhelming
No. I like the idea of him using the masks against you, but the way it was implimented wasn't executed that well.
The way Lani-Loli was used was pretty basic. It at least kept you moving, but wasn't that creative.
The way Lika-Lika was used didn't really effect the fight too much. Maybe if left and right were reversed, it might have been harder.
The way the slow-time mask was used was a joke. How was that supposed to make the fight harder? Especially when he tells you when he's going to slow time and speed it up.
The way Akano was used was super basic. He just spun slowly with his lasers, and that was it.
Also, like with the N. Tropy fight, it felt like there should have been one more phase. Both of them were kinda underwhelming.
The first battle with cortex on the airship was ridiculous though.

Why do the Quantum Masks fight against you here if up to this moment they have helped you throughout the game?
Because Cortex is controling them, just look at their faces, they look totally confused/worried.
