The band’s latest entry stole them an official spot to compete in Australia Decides, 2022; proof that the band has the innate ability to consistently transcend. The band came second overall, winning the public vote.

Not only is this song great, this is a good representation of Australian music. Australia is one of the top countries for prog rock and metal.
I'm a Yank that lived in Oz in the late 90s. No continent in the world has more stellar music engineers, producers, techs, and artists to drive an industry than does Australia.
As a video-game industry insider back then, I got to tour the Sony studios in Sydney and was like "WTF!!! How do a mere 20 million people get access to all this gear and expertise??!!"

@@gaspode8 Ne Obliviscaris, Belakor, Twelve foot ninja, Karnivool, Reliqa, Caligula's horse, Butterfly Effect, Chaos Divine and obviously Voyager. Try a couple of songs for each and you should find something you like.

Okay, Alex has become my favourite bassist/background vocalist. He's a deadly combo and his supporting skills have become so strong it feels like he's almost providing half of the band's sound now.
One of the best things about ESC: It introduces people to new music.

I think (as a progressive rock band) Pain of Salvation was applied before, but the music was hardly a progressive (or even rock) music as this one. Nevertheless I will be so happy if they go to top! Go Voyager! Love from Turkey!

@@hazardeur Because it's Europe except for Australia. Australia was allowed to enter because of decades of strong viewership from the country, presumably stemming from and boistered by European expats. Australia also sent acts before their official entry. Rumour has it that it was also an opportunity to boost viewership numbers. Much to a lot of people's surprise, Australia stayed in the competition.
Whether or not we should still be in it is up for debate, but I guess it's been so long now that they're probably not going to take us out.
In any case, they're not going to change the title of a competition that has run for 65 years with the aim of uniting Europe, just because they let Australia have an entry for 6 years. All countries are part of the European community, except for Australia which is still an EBU member.
What would you want to call it, Worldvision? Euro- & Australia- vision? If you look at the history and ask yourself that, you can hopefully understand why it's still called Eurovision.
