I'm a Yank that lived in Oz in the late 90s. No continent in the world has more stellar music engineers, producers, techs, and artists to drive an industry than does Australia. As a video-game industry insider back then, I got to tour the Sony studios in Sydney and was like "WTF!!! How do a mere 20 million people get access to all this gear and expertise??!!" Don't let geography count you out as global artists, Australians! Your competition is paying far more for the chance to record lesser stuff here in the USA.

Australia also sent acts before their official entry. Rumour has it that it was also an opportunity to boost viewership numbers. Whether or not we should still be in it is up for debate, but I guess it's been so long now that they're probably not going to take us out. In any case, they're not going to change the title of a competition that has run for 65 years with the aim of uniting Europe, just because they let Australia have an entry for 6 years. All countries are part of the European community, except for Australia which is still an EBU member. What would you want to call it, Worldvision? Euro- & Australia- vision? If you look at the history and ask yourself that, you can hopefully understand why it's still called Eurovision.

I think National Selection juries have learned from this, hence they jury vote holds more sway than the public vote. Anyway, I’ll be at Australia Decides on the Friday night. This will be my 3rd time.
