  • I tried an experiment with my GoPro suction cup mount on the outside
    window of the Orange line. Recoded all sites and sounds
    for about 20 minutes. Enjoy!

    That was a great view. The GoPro Sessions 5 did well with picture , color and sound. I wonder if there is a way you could put a deadcat over the mic for wind noise. A few times it looked like it was going to hit the wall or post. Pretty cool how you can see I-66 east and westbound. I see you at the window 11:03, 11:57 Lets see more of theses.

      Thanks. Not sure a dead cat would stay on. Might have to glue it

    The third rail gaps at 12:33 is where WMATA originally planed for the N Route Silver line junction turnouts to be. I have never gotten an explanation as to why the junction location was moved east to Great Fall Street. The only reason I can think of for moving it to Great Fall Street is because there is a traction power substation there. The third rail gaps at originally planed location connect to traction power tie breaker station. There use to be a set of third rail conduits stubs at the originally planed location junction turnouts to power the the N Route Silver line from the traction power tie breaker station.

      I have tested my GoPro suction cup on my car going a lot faster than the train does. So there was no real risk of it falling off unless it hit something like a bird.

    JC that is dangerous imagine if the GoPro fell on the tracks and the train behind the one your riding runs over it

    • @PJGGolfer
      @PJGGolfer  3 роки тому

      No way that was going to happen. I clean the glass and the suction cup to as clean as possible. The train does not go anywhere fast enough. Plus I did not want to lose a $400 GoPro for one shot. 👍

    • @PJGGolfer
      @PJGGolfer  3 роки тому

      We all know it is probably no legal. But I can tell you I cleaned that spot on the window as good as it ever has been cleaned. Had a very good suction to the glass. Plus I knew the speed of the train is not as fast as my test on my car. It was a good view though. Thanks for stopping by.

    Yo, that video got my attention. I just wish that you can do that for the whole train ride of the Orange line! I got my video of the whole Orange line front view but it’s not surrounding like yours plus it’s behind the rail operators seat. on top of it it’s on a dirty window. I’ve seen some huge viewership onto my video as well you should probably go check it out. But dead honest I was a superb video idea that you made. If you fully committed on doing this, if I have the funds saving up i’ll do my best to contribute you a new GoPro if something goes wrong while filming the Orange line at the side of the car hits it or want not… if you’re not fully committed on my idea, that’s fine. I’ll be grateful that this train is what you could offer at the moment.
    PS. Whatever you do, don’t reply to Jeremy Horowitz’s comment too much he keeps spamming too many times and it’s so annoying AF. He comments on every WMATA video including mine. I’m so surprised he commented your video. 😬

    How did you do this without getting in trouble and how did you manage to do this quickly? Those trains are always moving. You need to do this on all lines

    • @PJGGolfer
      @PJGGolfer  2 роки тому +1

      You only get in trouble if you get caught I guess. I was sitting next to the door and I was ready to mount the camera and suction cup as soon as the train stopped. You usually have a couple of minutes before it starts moving. I knew the suction cup would be good. I have gone faster in my car, so I knew I would be ok. As far as on ALL the LINES, not to sure. But thanks. I was out with my brother who does make a lot of train videos. ua-cam.com/users/MarkTheLostTraveler
