Measurements: Delighted with my brand new Surge. There's something odd about the rulers on yours, 'both marked from out to in 1, 2, 3 and 4'. On mine, the stoneage inches read from 1 to 4 on the left and 5 to 8 on the right. Correct. Correspondingly, the metric one reads from 2 to 10 on the left and 12 to 20 on the right. Correct. Thus one can measure anything up to 8 inches or 20 cm long without having to do mental arithmetic. Has someone rebuilt yours from a heaps of parts from more than one Surge, or is there someone in the Leatherman factory needing to see an optician?

I suspect yours may be more normal than mine. When I saw this example I thought I was losing my mind because I had always thought it had a full 8” ruler, and even labeled the frames by the numbers on our sales listings. I’m guessing one just slipped into the wrong bin at the factory, but what great timing to be the one I pulled for this video 😂

@@zachlyndeYT I guess you will have to find another friendly Surge owner with the same problem. The following story comes to mind.
[Vivian] Stanshall went into a tailor's shop where he admired a pair of trousers. [Keith] Moon came in, posing as another customer, and admired the same trousers, demanding to buy them. When Stanshall protested, the two men fought, splitting the trousers in two, so they ended up with one leg each. The tailor was beside himself. A one-legged actor hired by Stanshall and Moon, came in, saw the split trousers and proclaimed, "Ah! Just what I was looking for."

Why is the leatherman surge so damn tough?!?!? It’ll close when you close the pliers and it takes two hands to get them loose to grab onto something.

That’s a good question; the pliers wear in eventually and operate smoother but mine are still pretty rough too.

Mine were like that at first. They loosen up over time don't worry.

Good review! You can add 2 Bosch metal saws to the sleeve...for increased capability...😊

Absolutely! I’ve actually never used a third party blade in the surge but it seems like an awesome option for those who need it.

@@zachlyndeYT It’s been handy in my case, it’s also great to be able to easily swap out the saw and file once they’re worn out AND to (in a pinch) be able to use the file to sharpen the Surge’s own knife.

I have the Surge good tool but to heavy and bulky to be a pocket tool .

Yeah it’s a bit cumbersome. I think mine is going to end up in my car toolkit.
