      First you are one of the few reaction videos channel that i still actually continue to follow. You must be doing something right. Second Trains is good but less "progressive" shall we say. You really cant go wrong with these guys. Third i have five words for you: Arriving. Somewhere. But. Not. Here.

    Leprous - Slave (Live at Rockefeller Music Hall)
    I’ll keep suggesting it til you watch it. lol Discovered these guys (and this particular live song) on my Devin Townsend station and they blew my mind. I immediately dove into their discography. I’m an old school PT fan, but you gotta check these guys out. Every song is good. Over the last week, they’ve joined my favorites right up there with Tool, Opeth and PT. That never happens. Trying to make it vague enough so it’s surprising but enticing enough for you to check it out. You’re not gonna get a bunch of likes on this comment so you just gotta trust me. I’m a proghead and I had no idea who they were either. A little ashamed to admit it. Lol

      Right there with you, that entire concert is so good and everyone's so on point. I started listening to them last year and I'm into the same bands you named, they quickly became one of my favorites in prog! They have a way to make all their songs very proggy and interesting instrumentally, then Einar just elevates them with his vocals every time.

    • @stevepadla4591
      @stevepadla4591 4 роки тому +3

      Yep, DO it. Dive in Leprous like you did with Gojira. Especially if you like impressive clean vocals. Leprous I'd put smack dab in the middle of porcupine tree and Gojira. You've got heavier tunes and gnarly rhythm guitar but also super atmospheric and strange soundscapes.

    Fun fact, Steven Wilson, the front-man and self taught audio engineer, performs live shows without shoes and socks on. I have attended three of his solo tours when he came near Philly, can confirm this. Now, after 'Trains', 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here'. This is a song that you should do both studio and live, though like this song, I prefer the live version more. Live version is from Chicago, the show titled 'Arriving Somewhere'. You'll be glad you did.

  • @SongwritingDeconstructed
    @SongwritingDeconstructed Рік тому

    It's truly a mark of brilliance how uplifting and beautiful they make the end of the song feel when, if you analyse the lyrics, it VERY much reads like someone, uh, chucking a suey (as we say in Australia) in the bathtub. But I suppose all those vocal harmonies and high notes (and props to the backup his highs were amazing! a wonderfully full bodied falsetto) give the hint that it's a chorus of angels carrying the subject to his rest. It's more noticeable on the album version on good headphones

    You're so right when you say it feels a lot shorter than what it is.
    One of them times I seen them live, they introduced this as a yet to be recorded song that was 17 minutes long.
    Being honest, I can get quite antsy at gigs when I don't know a song. And standing around for such a long song that no one in the crowd would have heard before? I was so nervous.
    ... It was absolutely one of the best songs I've ever seen live.

I typically scroll right past any reaction vids, as they are annoying as hell, with stopping the song every 20 seconds to tell us "look at that" or "listen to how they do this". What a waste. I have watched a few of yours now, and you let the song play and vibe to it. You enjoy the music and sing along. Let it dig in and grab ahold. I can appreciate that. Instant sub. Anesthetize is probably one of the best Progressive rock songs created in the past 20-25 years (arguably in totality depending on who you ask), and Steven Wilson has been the King of progressive rock since In Absentia came out back in 2001. I was lucky enough to see this band live back in 2010 right before they stopped touring, and I've also had the pleasure of meeting Gavin Harrison back in December and he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Keep up listening to their music, as well as Steven Wilson's solo work (The Raven and HCE are must listens!)

      in absentia wasn't even progressive rock. He had been doing prog rock for over a decade and took a break in the 2000s from prog rock. Signify, up the downstairs, delerium years, sky moves sideways are his best prog rock works.

      @LesPaulManiac 4 роки тому +1

      @@chandreshgoyal6070 - Length of a track has absolutely nothing to do with how 'proggy' it is. There are plenty of songs that are under 4 minutes that can be considered progressive rock. Gavin Harrison is so tight on the drum,without douing too much for noting.
