Looks like the true secret to hair growth is: LEAVE.IT.ALONE. I have watched enough videos of people who leave their hair alone ...in braids...in twists...in wigs...in weaves...And I have concluded that leaving your hair alone is the best thing to do if you want to grow it.
This inspired me to leave my braid for another month lol

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Life happens🤷🏾♀️. I’ve neglected my hair for 7 months I haven’t washed it and some parts of my hair still haven’t been detangled🤦🏾♀️. Ice just been busy with school and I also have depression so that makes things 10x harder. Like I said it’s life your hair will bounce back after a wash or two 😊.

@@why5137 exactly. Like I have to brush my hair at least twice a week because my hair dreads up easily so I can't leave it alone as long as she does, but I compromise by putting it back in a protective style and keep leaving my hair alone for months
you're being hard on yourself! sometimes, life gets in the way and certain things get pushed to the side. you've hardly neglected your hair, but I agree that I feel better in a cute outfit when my hair is done. I'm getting box braids soon so I don't have to deal with it during my internship. you should go live soon :)

Your hair does not look bad, AT ALL. It actually looks really good and I was kind of surprised when you said you were going to put it in a ponytail because of how nice it looked when you had it down. And I dont understand how your hair can look that GOOD after two months. I've started washing my hair in twists and re-moisturizing once a week. it is growing like crazy
Your hair is beautiful even when you neglect it. I love that you showed your roots because I've been trying to find someone with my texture. You see how your hair is all of these little random waves at the root? Mine is like that and it doesn't match any of those hair typing videos. I know my hair is type 4 but I've struggled like you trying to figure it out so now, I just keep it in a protective style moisturized. It's long like yours but my ends not as thick an healthy due to texturizer at the ends and me not wanting to give up my length and cut off the texlax. Your hair is goals!!!

You're so cute, and funny. From where I am sitting, your hair is gorgeous. There is nothing wrong with it. 2 months is not that bad, especially since it was braided into a protective style. I have experienced, and have seen many naturals literally in tears because their hair matted to a point of no recovery, and they had to cut off waist length hair. Be blessed little sis.
i absolutely love that shampoo and use that conditioner as one of my leave ins & a detangler (i also have highly porous 4c hair). i hope they serve you well.

the shampoo is my favorite shampoo when I don’t want my hair to feel stripped. it cleans my hair very well without feeling stripped. no to little lather though so I get a lil heavy handed sometimes 😅 tbh though, if i were in your exact predicament i would use something a little stronger (a sulfate). i prefer it for more of my typical maintenance routine.
the conditioner as a rinse out/deep conditioner for me was ok/good, but not spectacular. it didn’t do anything bad, but nothing special. so i noticed it had nice slip on my dry hair, started using it to finger detangle my hair instead and never looked back. it is a staple for that particular step for me. it absorbs very well into my dry hair, but wet hair is negotiable.
i wish i could recommend a solid deep conditioner but i’m currently still trying to find one i’m committed to.

My fine strands hair start to dread up after 4 days without washing it, I can't imagine stay that long without a wash and go, my hair would be a nightmare to detangle tbh, I'm kinda jealous that you are able to maintain your hair without a complete wash for that long, you go girl 😔❤

When I wear my crochet styles 2-3 months top I never re-moisturize. I find doing that causes product buildup and tons of dirt and tangles. When it’s properly moisturized and tucked away it’s not that bad. Also I find when ends are like that at times we have to realize it’s growth, hair/ends never grow straight, just make it neat.
Ive been contemplating cutting my hair since last year and im definitely going to do it at the end of this year

I would say just cut the split ends off her hair...if she does not cut it then the split ends will grow up her hair shaft and the longer she waits the more she will have to cut..and she has so pretty hairrrr😍

Put some rose water in a spay bottle and mist it occasionally . I love that hack and maybe mix a little fenugreek in for extra moisture.

How do you avoid your ends from knotting while you have them in plaits for an extended period? By the end of week 1 when I try losing to moisturize, the ends are so tangled and I have to cut them😔
I always wear my braids in a pony tail, also, I usually tuck my ends away so that they don’t rub against my clothes
Twisting the ends instead of braiding them help.

Plz do a porosity test because i live in the tropics and i have high porosity and your hair should not look that good after going to the pool and beach.

You can do it on a wash day because it has to be done on clean strand and you can put 3 strand from different areas of ur head and put it in a cup of water and see what it does

Can't count how many times I have damaged my hair because life be lifing man.
Your hairs not ugly sis. I feel like as black girls were told our hair is our worth and if our hairs not a certain way we're "ugly" or not worth anything. This isn't all down to us but down to the fact most of the time when people compliment us also it's on our hair not our looks. So we feel like our hair needs to be A1 24/7 otherwise we're not shit. But we are. It isn't your fault.
Your hairs not ugly and neither are you, it's just that we're taught our worth and value lies in our hair.
If doing your hair is a slog, dedicate say one day a week (or 2 weeks whatever fitting for you) to do it. And just think I only have to do this one day. Think of it as a self-care day and maybe put some of your favourite music on while you do it or your favourite show. Maybe do a face mask too. Change your mindset towards doing your hair into something more positive. That will help you start taking care of it more often bc you'll enjoy it and hopefully look forward to that day bc you aren't just doing your hair. You're watching your favourite show etc
