Davide Sorice Kali is the art of using weapons and improvised weapons.... if you ask if it is effective?? Just look at the news and see robbers and gangsters perform crimes using improvised weapons like ice picks, baseball bats, chains..... The philosophy of Kali is that, in a street fight you will have more chance of surviving if you have weapons or improvised weapons like belts, scissors, pencil or umbrella or stone and rocks you can throw as projectile weapon....Having weapons in a street fight is always a strategic advantage... That is why Kali is a martial art that is focused on weapons or improvised weapons.... Another important thing is that when you learn the art of Kali, you gain confidence because you know the art of using improvised weapons and other weapons....
I don't usually go around with scissors or baseball bats so I prefer to learn how to defend myself without this stuff, even against people with weapons
Davide Sorice You don't usually go around with scissors or baseball bats... but you usually carry pencil or umbrella.... just look at your pants and you will see your belt as flexible weapon.. Just look around the streets and you find stones and rocks that you can use as "Projectile weapons".....In a restaurant, you see fork and spoon and plates...look at your feet and you will see your shoes or slippers....Even your saliva can be used as projectile weapon because if you spit on a person's face he can get distracted and so you can have an opportunity to attack him.... .. Kali is all about looking at all objects as weapons... Either as flexible weapon, or projectile weapon or sharp weapon..... weapons give you strategic edge... give a 5 year old girl a knife and she can kill a 25 years old man....

I am a Filipino and I am proud of this!:)

the future of martial arts is fma.
It's very cool to see but is it effective in a real fight?
Being effective in a real fight is a matter of your personal attitude and your heart and not so much of the art you´re performing.
I practice jeet kune do and i can say that it's very effective in real fights. Too much movements are useless
