I'm pretty impressed with the Cali. I just did a demo and it's so diverse in what it can do. Sure, it's great for metal but dude, you could even play country on channels 1 and 2 (not saying you'd wanna do that but you can)
Beautiful track. I'll agree about Positive Grid. Their mini bass head and their physical delay pedal are cool, but their plugins... I don't even bother.
Wow at the end there I prefered the plugin, because I felt it had less low mids going on and had a nice highend presence. Made the mix feel wider and clean maybe? Neural DSP is amazing stuff.
I used to be a skeptic about Neural. I mean it's hyped to death. But there's a reason. I don't like Ilock, and I think they ride that price a little steep but their plugs are truly nice sounding. No denying that. Great vid.
I just tried archtype nolly from neural dsp , i setup up evrything n wen i try to play it through my scarlet interface the sound didn’t come immediately its like, when i play guitar it took about half a second late to actually sound in my computer . What i mean is its kind a delayed to outcome the sound. Please any help or suggestion whats the problem with it?
I really love their Nolly plugin. Been blending it with tube amps and getting killer results. Incredibly versatile imo. Definitely gotta try this one out though. Great demo as always!
@@BackroomStudios thanks for that tip! So far I've only blended it with tube amps running into my suhr reactive load ir, into box and using the neural cabs as well. Now I gotta go check some phases .... haha
What else did you have going on with the guitar sound mix-wise? The amp sim sounded great but then when you played it back before the “in the mix” playthrough it sounded more full and alive...a sound I’ve been looking for for a long time! Thanks for the demo!
Nothing on the guitar, it just didn't work in the mix as well as you'd think. Just because it sounds good on its own doesn't mean it plays well with others
@@kevinbackroom for example 12:03ish (just the plugin) sounds good but there’s something about when you played it at 12:48 something in the low end came alive and vibrant - just wondering what that was.
@@kevinbackroom didn’t want to jump to conclusions but thanks for the answers! Now that Neural has 50% off for Black Friday, just added Cali to the shopping cart based just on that sound! HUGE! Love your stuff
Neural DSP and Postivie Grid just take this stuff to the next level. I still use Postivie Grid but i try couple Neural Plugins and they are amazing andy easy to use
@@BackroomStudios I dont have money for this. I know for amercans 100 dollars it is not much but If you think about currency exchange for my in Poland it is somthing like 400. And we made 4 or 5 less then people in USA
thank you for this video, i really how you took your time to describe the functionality and made an musical production compare with your and the neural dsp plugin . i am not sure i understand the jazz music choice in the background though :), i dont hate it, i just find it a bit funny when you are review a product in the metal genre perspective :D . anyways checkout some of the other preset, they are very cool.
The Cali sounds really good but dude, that original tone is beast mode. I really feel like the Nameless would get closer to that tone but I may be wrong.
Awesome demo🤘 🙂..... I'd say this sim would be perfect for doing a Metallica ride the lightning or kill em all cover... sounds like a super hot rodded jcm
@Bloom Tik Bloom I have tried building tones from the ground up, nothing sounds good, theres a latency with the plugin, it felt clunky. The plugin just never felt anything close to a real amp. Neural stuff you can literally turn on the plugin, one or two clicks and its sounds incredible, it almost feels like you have an amp with you. But who knows, I'm sure it's because I cant really dial in a tone.
Chase Beynon Bias sucks lol. Neural smashes that shit out the park. Bias is full of those fake ass plastic harsh sounding highs between 1 and 4k. None of that w Neural
@Bloom Tik Bloom It was the first Bias Amp plugin, I think feeling bitter about it I never bothered to look at Bias 2. Maybe it got better. I tried the trial of Bias FX, also wasnt feeling it, but hey tech is getting better, I guess I got suckered in their early stages

I had BIAS.All updates. And now free Fluff amp sim is better than all BIAS done till now.BIAS got to the same point like LINE 6.
Well said!
This ballad you are using to demo the plugin is really pretty..
Great video!
Thanks, Mike you are killing it
I literally refunded my positive grid software as soon as i heard neural DSP haha
great video!
Beautiful track.

Just got the Abasi pluggin, thing sounds amazing, I like it more than the Plini pack for sure
Theyre all pretty killer!
Not gonna lie Ive already purchased the Cali Suite, I just came for the beard brother.
Couple of things: 1. your content is awesome - earned a sub from me; 2. Your desk with the built in 500 modules is a dream for me. Freaking fantastic
Thanks so much! we built it ourselves! you can make something similar too!
Awesome sounding plugin! I'm reviewing it myself and yeah it rocks so hard! Great video man!

interesting choice! you like what you like though!

Great vid.
The Cali suite certainly does sound better than my Marshall DSL100HR I plan on replacing it with the plugin w/a poweramp
I can definitely fuck with this torrential downpour tune, I'll definitely have to check them out!
Awesome plugin man
"Violence, thats always good" Laughed my ass off.
Are u the lost cousin of Jake from Periphery?
He's my dad!
LMAO
I bought abasi. Love it. Cali is next....or plini.....or...or.....

sounds like youre dealing with input latency. Turn down your buffer setting in your playback engine, 128 or lower
Kevin Antreassian thanks man

I'm sure you know, but be careful blending plugins with micd cabs. Phase is a killer!

The contrast of the jazz is the joke! Ha
did you not realize you had the pull bass saturation on when you said it was ''bass heavy''?
what's the green amp at the back?
Revv Generator 100p, super versatile!
The neural fits into the mix really well but the JJ seems to have a lot more character

Yeah maybe, glad you like it!
YES
Sounds eff-ing dope 😝🤘🏻
Are you planning on using it on any up coming projects?
Typically I use my wall of amps for my work, but occasionally I'll throw one of these on on a pinch.

I didn’t quite understand what the original amp was
Friedman JJ
7:03 disgusting throat noise
It’s cute that people tuning down to Z still think they can nail a good tone; it’s gonna sound the same no matter what you use
Disgusting, and great section to use!
like THIS guy knows what he's talking about! LOOK AT THAT TIGHT ZIP-UP HOODIE. what is this, 2001?
Great vid. Wish that cheesy lounge music wasn't going on everywhere the DAW is not playing.
Same, it's very annoying and distracting.
+1 superannoying
sound engineering battle hahaha

The original better amp has more character. I bet you don't use the plugin on the final mix.
no amp plugins on the final mix sir.
For me, that background music is super distracting. I can't pay attention to anything you're saying.
what is that crap in the background annoying as f
Its probably your mom
