Really makes you appreciate how well the Master Cycle Zero was implemented realizing it was developed after the world was already made, whereas Pokémon Scarlet and Violet developed their similar mechanic alongside the world and it can be extremely janky.
It's baffling how a completely optional bike item, that serves as nothing more than a congratulatory item is much more polished than another bike that's supposed to be a game's vital point. Really speak of the game's quality, huh?
Imagine if each Divine Beast was designed by a secondary race alongside the Sheikah. The Zora, Goron, Rito, and Gerudo people designed the main four but the Master Cycle was designed by the Minish. To them, this thing’s freaking HUGE! But to us, it’s just a motor cycle 🤷🏻♂️😂
Oh, english name for that weapon is cool. What do you think about french name "tétralame mort-subite" ("tetra" for "four", "lame" for "blade" and "mort subite" for "instant death") ?
Man after seeing the concept art for the wolf version, I'm honestly a little bummed we didn't get that, it looked incredible! I mean I love what we ended up with, but still!
There are still references to it, in a way. In the Age of Calamity DLC, where Zelda gets a weaponize recreation of the bike, there are alternate versions of it designed to work somewhat differently. There’s an attack-focused one designed like a bird & a defense-focused one designed like a donkey. Not quite the original wolf, but fairly close!
@@Zeltik Hi zeltik, great fan !!! Pls upload more videos regarding tears of the kingdom , those are great and makes me impatient to play the game btw, great fan dude!!!!
I actually think that the Master Cycle Dungeon does take place *inside* the Master Cycle Zero. Before you aquire the Master Cycle Zero the monk raises it up out of Sheika platform and it is *waaayyy* bigger then it turns into blue energy and teleports to Link's side at a much more ridable size. How much bigger it actually is a little difficult to say as there is no close up look of it, but even with the forced perspective making it smaller it appears to be as big as the top of a Sheika Tower.
It's difficult to say how much bigger it is, if at all, but it's really not difficult to tell that it's much too small to be where the dungeon took place
It’s definitely the same size when it’s first revealed. It does look bigger, but that’s because of the forced perspective of it being propped up as it was.
I rarely even use the ancient horse armor now because of the master cycle zero. Amazing bike and I'm so thankful we have it. I hope we'll still get to use it in TotK!
I remember being about 12/13 when Majora's Mask came out and everyone was wondering where the series would go next. Literally nobody said cel shaded boats. But the prevalent rumor I remember hearing at the time was a futuristic LoZ where Link would ride a motorcycle named Epona and the Master Sword might become some kind of gun or lightsaber type weapon. This was one of those "how to catch mew" kind of rumors where everyone knew it was true because SOMEONE had the inside info or had already seen it. I'd still like to see something like that to this day.
Something that I've noticed about the vehicle since that is a very good experience to try out while I was doing laundry and kazooie nuts and bolts in was the greatest thing that ever happened to that game because / 1000 hours just like looking designing and constructing and building a lot of the different types of vehicles that I was able to imagine at my
I don't care how silly it seems, I adore that bike! I keep replaying BOTW, just to see how quick I can get the bike. I wish I could get it right at the start, as running around huge Hyrule is exhausting! Plus, those Guardians are so freaky, I can't get away quick enough on foot. I love how that bike looks, and it is great for fighting the Bokoblins, etc on.
I remember one of my favorite things I did was beat all four Divine Beasts right after getting off the plateau, then immediately beating the Champions Ballad so I could get the Master Cycle Zero, and then riding it to all the shrines. It was so fun! But I also really wish they would have done the wolf design on the bike; or at least had an option to change it if you wanted. I’d take a wolf design over a horse any day. 😄
“The bike, Fujibayashi, the bike” “Fine but only if in the next one i get my car” This is how that conversation happened and I refuse to believe anything to the contrary.
As fun as the master cycle is, vehicles is a really weird direction for the series to take...i really hope the vehicles in Tears are optional and not a prime focus of the game.
not sure if you're looking for ideas, but I had a video idea! you've ranked the various Links and Ganons, but a video ranking the different Zeldas by who's the most powerful would be really interesting! :)
thematically speaking, it would make the most sense for the bike to be damaged or lost somehow, and that you should have to work to find pieces of it, and ultimately upgrade it past its original form, as anything less would disrespect the last reward of botw, and anything more would be very op.
Funny I remember a rumor several years back about Nintendo throwing around the idea of a Zelda game set in a futuristic Hyrule. The main mode of transportation was to be a motorcycle.
It's kind of adorable for an old game developer/producer persistently mentioning and asking the director for a bike to be put in a fantasy medieval action adventure game they're working on like a teenage kid asking his mom to buy him an Xbox or something. Shows how much they enjoy and love the product that they themselves have created. Which is one of the greatest qualities you'd want for in a game developer.
Absurd as this idea may sound, that massive internal combustion engine hidden under the Great Plateau *could* actually help explain how a massive chunk of land like the Great Plateau would fit perfectly where the Lost Woods are, and vice versa. If the Great Plateau is a massive vehicle powered by that engine, and it just drove across the land of Hyrule, mowing down what was left of the Kokiri Forest, while the Koroks moved to where the Great Plateau used to be and planted a new forest there (it's been ten thousand years. A new forest can easily grow in that amount of time). And yes, I know how ridiculous it sounds. I never claimed it doesn't.
When it comes to the lore behind the Master Cycle Zero, my own theory has always been that version we ride in game is the prototype. Zero is in the name, and the French name seems to support that, being named Legendary Steed 0.1. The prototype is much smaller, with the actual version being planned to be as big as the other Divine Beasts when it was finished. Unfortunately, they never got more than the engine done, and that is used as the dungeon. As for why the giant Master Cycle was never finished, I assume it’s the same reason behind why all the Divine Beasts and other Shiekah tech was buried for all those millennia.
I don't think it's a prototype though, what good would a giant Divine Beast be for the hero, who is supposed to fight Ganon head on in order to allow Zelda to seal him away? This fifth Divine Beast doesn't have the same role as the other four. It makes a lot more sense that its current size is exactly the size it should be because it actually allows Link get up close to Ganon quickly and easily, a replacement for the horse, basically. Plus, why give it wheels if it was to be just as big as the other DB, when the other DB all have functioning legs.
The Master Cycle is probably my favourite item in the game, it's so fun and convenient, and I love that they went out of their way to justify why such an advanced piece of technology would exist in this world. It's a shame you didn't mention the different versions of the Master Cycle in Age of Calamity even as a passing thought cause these look absolutely amazing as well, and the Master Cycle's final blow attack is the same laser as the Divine Beasts which further emphasises its role as a fifth divine beast.
The inclusion of the Master Cycle Zero and Sheika magitech makes me wonder if for a future game it’d be viable to have a cyberpunk or even outright sci-fi setting. Just imagine instead of the fields of Hyrule and fighting monsters out in the wild, the action takes place in the under city of a futuristic city and the moulins are formed into biker gangs you have to fight. It would be a radical departure for the series, but maybe it could allow for something fresh and new? And iirc, wasn’t Zelda 1 or aLttP supposed to involve sci-fi elements at one point in development? Could make for a nice nod to those old plans.
I hope for a sci-fi fantasy in the veins of Phantasy Star. Zelda was supposed to be high tech in the first game, Link would travel between past and future and the triforce was pieces of a microchip, but that idea was scrapped bacause of disk limitation (first Zelda was made to be played with Famicom Disk System, and the disks has less space than cartridges) and some concept arts of A Link to the Past shows a futuristic Zelda, meaning they still flirted with the idea more than one time.
The Master Cycle was one of the coolest things Breath of the Wild could have asked for. Getting it after you have nothing else to do is a crime. I literally just drove around for about an hour and then was like "Yeah, guess that's the whole game..." I turned it off and never went back. To be fair, most of us had 100% completed the game before the DLC came out, so I suppose you could start a new file, focus only on doing what needs to be done to unlock the cycle, and THEN taking the cycle with you to complete all of the shrines again, but even now, years after exploring that whole world, the idea of doing all of the shrines again isn't quite as appealing as one might think, let alone trying to complete the 4 Divine Beasts and all of the DLC challenges without having the Master Sword or having beaten enough shrines to have good HP and Stamina. No, the Master Cycle is a great reward that the game's open world deserves, but it is arguably locked behind too many things to make it as enjoyable as it could be.
I found an NPC named Baddek at Serenne Stable during the rain who said “White horse… giant horse… mechanical horse… bone horse… Now, which of these horses doesn’t exist in this world? The answer will be revealed someday, somewhere. It may even have already been revealed to you.” I have no idea if he was always in the game or if he was added in by the DLC, but wow
Honestly I never liked or cared about the master cycle in botw. However it never stopped me from being happy for anyone that did. And have to admit that it does look pretty cool lol
Since Link is a champion but doesn't have a divine beast. I just like to imagine that the master cycle is just his divine beast even tho it's tiny. (But the coolest lol.)
I just love how easy the Master Cycle Zero is to explain to people who didn't play the DLC. "Yeah, I don't know about the DLC. Did they really add a MOTORCYCLE?" "Yes. The point of the DLC is that Link earns his own Divine Beast, and it is shrunk down to the size of a normal mount." "Oh. Actually, that's really cool and I want to play that."
Going back to the Divine Beasts to relive the battles the other 4 Champions lost makes it seem the Master Cycle was made after they Calamity. How could that be possible?
Anyone else notice the white dog over the spring of courage that's near the Zonai ruins? It contrasts the dark fog over typhlo ruins also built by the Zonai 🤔
Honestly I wasn't too thrilled about the bike. I'm not too thrilled about this upcoming goo-bound machine building in the next one either. I've actually delayed reserving the game because of it. BotW was a fun ride for me, but it burned me in a few places. For instance, we could have motorcycle, but no way to craft/repair/upgrade weapons. We couldn't collect food recepies in a cook book. (as there are many combinations) We couldn't cook more than one thing at a time, even when we built our own house. You couldn't store extra horses at your house despite the small stable there. You didn't even get a quality bed...you still have to pay for a lodge to get the sleeping bonus. Not all DLC/hidden armors can be upgraded. But my greatest two gripes are 1) No porting BotW save files from the Wii U to the Switch And 2) The god forsaken korok seeds and the ultimate insult of receiving a literal piece of poo at the end. I'd happily trade the bike to improve any one of those points.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 I never stated or implied that I "understand game development". However, by your comment I could say that you're insinuating that you do "understand game development". I welcome an in-depth critique as to why my stated opinions are antithetical to the nuances of game development. How exactly did I miss the mark? Why would these things that I desire as a regular consumer of the medium be so clearly wrong as for you to declare my ignorance on the matter?
Seeing those closeups of the sheikah slate, how awesome would it have been if the Switch OLED Zelda edition was graphically more like the sheikah slate.. Since it already looks like a Switch itself, that would have been really nice.. Too bad 🙂
"Even if Zelda is playable, or even if Link can use this new Shiekah slate at some point in the game, it's unlikely to have the same Master Cycle Zero rune on it that Link downloaded to the original" ..... unless they have save file functionally that puts it on there from your BotW DLC file. And it could easily be explained in-Universe that Zelda downloaded Link's data from his old Shiekah slate into her new one.
I really want to know how much of MY progress was Links progress in TOTK. did he do the Trial Of The Sword and obtain the Master Cycle Zero? Did he do all the sidequests? Did he complete every shrine? Did he even remember Zelda!?! If he doesn't remember Zelda completely in TOTK, it screws up a bunch of the Zelink theories I believe in!
This not about the master cycle but, Zeltik there is a series that a person named Major Link made that has to deal with ocarina of time links sad life after he was sent back and after majoras mask. It is something real special. Also a bit sad. I hope you see this and go see it for yourself it is a mind winder.
I find it so hilarious that everyone got so upended by a MC in BOTW, when there was a freaking motor boat in SS ... Everyone was just fine with that, but oh no! A MC, how can it be in the Zelda universe? LOL
I begin a new playthrough. I choose the challenge to max up the scaling ennemies/weapon, but alos to beat up all Dive Beast without exploring too much Hyrule. So that I can use the Master Cycle Zero to explore all the place.
You wake up in a futuristic resurrection chamber and immediately grab your iPad like most of us do every morning, but a motorcycle in Zelda feels out of place? I always laugh at that latter comment.
Its such a fun vehicle. Too bad it didn’t come in 250cc to climb those steep cliffs. I just play enough to get the bike and then do the rest of game afterwards.
the master cycle zero is the best endgame item. It makes the game so easily traversable that makes you feel like you finally conquered the game map. It also allows you to have fun in a way previously not possible and for example made me traverse the map from end to end which I never really did before, since horses are not very versatile and with all 120 shirens unlocked you pretty much never have to walk anywhere
I will NEVER forget the conversation I had with my friend when the master cycle dlc was announced. I sent him a picture of it and told him that it was real Friend: that's sweet! But what happened to Epona? Me, without zero hesitation: it's cuz she doesn't have enough horse power Friend:.............. *sends him the CSI Miami meme* Me: born to be breath of the wild Friend: PLEASE STOP!!!!
"It will break the game" Breath of the wild is set in the future, it even says on the rubber armour that rubber used to exist a long time ago but it doesn't anymore.
The mental image of Aonuma just whispering "the bike...the bike" into the directors ear is fucking hilarious.
The only thing it’s missing is to have his words be glowing blue, and the monk’s dialogue sound plays along with it.
Really makes you appreciate how well the Master Cycle Zero was implemented realizing it was developed after the world was already made, whereas Pokémon Scarlet and Violet developed their similar mechanic alongside the world and it can be extremely janky.

Haha comparing a Pokémon game to Zelda is like comparing canned food to a 3-star restaurant.
@Bloo Berri I think the Xenoblade devs helped with optimization, possibly? Can't say that's 100% true, but they're amazing at switch dev as well.

And 2) The god forsaken korok seeds and the ultimate insult of receiving a literal piece of poo at the end.
I'd happily trade the bike to improve any one of those points.
You seem to have greatly misunderstood how game development works.
Your gripes read more like nitpicks, baseless nitpicks at that.
@@NuiYabuko How do you define baseless?
And it could easily be explained in-Universe that Zelda downloaded Link's data from his old Shiekah slate into her new one.
could be that link slate is intergrated into his arm brace and that it works from there
Tri-caster? Seeing link with a flying V is terrifying
The MCZ is modern, sure, but look at Spirit Tracks. I just hope we get a hot-air balloon in the next top-down.
I rarely use fast travel in BOTW. I love horse riding in this game.
i rode into calamity ganon with this it was awesome
The animation is bad
We would love a Zelda set in a far distant future with Skyscrapers
People: NOOOOOO!!!! A MOTORCYCLE IN ZELDA IS ILLOGICAL!!!!
Link: *Uses his iPad made with ancient technology to take a photo of an apple*
I find it so hilarious that everyone got so upended by a MC in BOTW, when there was a freaking motor boat in SS ... Everyone was just fine with that, but oh no! A MC, how can it be in the Zelda universe? LOL
I hope in tears of the kingdom we find new champions for the divine beasts and they all come together megazord style for the final boss battle
3:09 - I love 90's douche-bro Link. Dude looks like he walked straight outta Whoville.
As a french i love our " Destrier de légende 0.1" 🔥
I love the idea of a punk Link in jeans!
I begin a new playthrough. I choose the challenge to max up the scaling ennemies/weapon, but alos to beat up all Dive Beast without exploring too much Hyrule. So that I can use the Master Cycle Zero to explore all the place.
The vehicle I want most is a submarine 🤩
I love the bike but honestly all I want in Tears of the Kingdom are a pair of gloves that let you climb in the rain
Eagerly awaiting the Halo Zelda clone.
Just driving a sheikah tank around sounds like it'd be a hell of a time.
I always wanted to see link get thrown into a distant future like samurai jack
I hope the bike makes a comeback in TOTK
Well then, I have about 200 hours in BOTW and I have only now found out that the bike can be fueled by things other than Ancient power cores -_-
You wake up in a futuristic resurrection chamber and immediately grab your iPad like most of us do every morning, but a motorcycle in Zelda feels out of place? I always laugh at that latter comment.
Just today unlocked it in master mode. Great timing
Its such a fun vehicle. Too bad it didn’t come in 250cc to climb those steep cliffs. I just play enough to get the bike and then do the rest of game afterwards.
We've come a long way from the Bunny Hood.
Note that in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Zelda is the one that gets to ride the bike, so maybe she’ll ride it in Tears of the Kingdom.
8:10 plz edit and put in a picture of a "Boxer 4 cylinder" that's the correct layout and would look better
the master cycle zero is the best endgame item.
I just use salt for fill ups. Its funny how much salt specifically fills it up.
Amazing video Zel, Loving the content
Zelda uses the Mastercycle Zero in Age of Calamity, so it's possible that the Mario Kart thing will happen again.
Now that I think about it - what would the fight with Maz Koshia look like from Hyrule’s surface?
Oh dang that's true
Really loved this video
I will NEVER forget the conversation I had with my friend when the master cycle dlc was announced. I sent him a picture of it and told him that it was real
Friend: that's sweet! But what happened to Epona?
Me, without zero hesitation: it's cuz she doesn't have enough horse power
Friend:..............
*sends him the CSI Miami meme*
Me: born to be breath of the wild
Friend: PLEASE STOP!!!!
"It will break the game" Breath of the wild is set in the future, it even says on the rubber armour that rubber used to exist a long time ago but it doesn't anymore.
Select Falco, down taunt then immediately down smash
Maybe it could come back as a save file bonus? Maybe? Hopefully? Please?
I never got to buy the DLC and unfortunately I’m not sure whether I even should now with TotK around the corner
