  • In a vintage archtop guitar, it's fairly common to have areas of the fretboard that are worn down. The owner of this guitar must've played it hours a day for decades to wear in the "cowboy chord" areas of the fretboard. Using black Starbond CA glue and sandpaper, I demonstrate how easy it is to fix this issue.

It was so painful to watch this video. Fretboard radius?

      Thanks for watching anyway?
The radius started at 14-16”. The guitar came to me held together by rubber bands, it was one of the millions that Harmony put together in that period

Ok that super glue trick worked perfectly. You can still see where the wear was so it has that well played look but the fretboard doesn't have huge divots to get stuck in. That's gonna look amazing when that gets reoiled or Crimson restorative oil depending on choice.

Yeah, it leaves just enough patina behind to imply the wear, but not be hampered by it. In another video or two, I wipe it down with mineral oil to finish it up after fretting
