I loved this! I have my Grandmother's sewing notions and also her treadle sewing machine. She was born in 1918 and sewed all her life. I certainly enjoy the antique and vintage sewing notions!
Thank you! The idea of making a display in a vintage tin is very helpful. I have some vintage sewing notions I’ve been waiting to figure out how to “lot” and sell. And those trims are stunning! What a find! See you next time!
Thank you for sharing! I inherited my aunt’s sewing collection and have greatly enjoyed going through everything. She was close to 100 and had such a variety of gems collected from her lifetime.
You hit the jackpot! I always look for vintage sewing items at estate sales and have found lots of marvelous things to add to my collection. I've started a shadowbox of different items using a tissue pattern as a backdrop. I've found some great scissors to add as well. I think you had a video on scissors too. I probably have enough items to make 50 shadow boxes. Retirement project.😊
My dollhouse loving heart loved those braids; I have taken ones not as fancy as yours, cut them into short lengths, and fringed the ends for runner rugs. I had a bunch of the modern ones (guitar strap looking) that I cut up wiht no qualms, but I don't know if I could do that to those lovely ones! In the late 50's and 60's my mom used to go to a mill in Barnstead, NH and buy mill ends or seconds by the pound, I think, and make the most beautiful organza aprons for the church bazaar. They were the prettiest, most useless aprons for hostesses to wear over their dresses--often the braids had a metallic thread.
Great find! Those trims look German, a real possibility in upstate NY. I’ve been filling lidded baskets with notions, with enough variety that I can call them sewing kits. The real prizes I save for myself and put them in old printers’ type trays that line the walls of my sewing room. My daughter once asked, “Mom, when you die, can I have these?” Of course! Now she’s grown up, tactful, and really worried that I will actually die. And I will, if I live long enough!
I’ve picked up from here n there old sewing cases or boxes. I have a large one that stands about 2 feet n I fell in love with it. But the best part is finding all whats inside. Old wooden spools of thread, needles , buttons, old sewing scissors so many goodies. Never realized that people collect them. I just do it bcuz they’re old n I like them. I definitely need to check out my buttons to see if they’re bake-a-lite. I think I need to watch your video again as I didn’t get the name of that tube you had to check for bake-a-lite. I really enjoyed the video n must tell ya I learned a lot. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟
What an AMAZING find!!! for just $5 !!! 🥳🥳🥳 You’ve got the magic touch 😍 I was hoping your box was like Mary Poppins carpet bag, and that there would be even MORE treasure to prolong the video, and share the vicarious thrill xoxoxo
Amazing trims!!
Great ideas. Learned something new today. Thanks
OMG the embroidered ribbon trims are the bomb! I love sewing notions, can’t pass them up! Really enjoyed your box of treasure.❤

What a great score! The trims were devine!
I LOVE buying stuff like this but you gave me great ideas on how/what to sell. I did see your piece on the button cards, so cute! Thanks Diana!
The poinsettia design on the trim looked like an edelweiss flower. Some of the trims looked Swiss. Just beautiful!
Thanks for the insight!!
What a find!
That’s the kind of box I am always looking for! I especially loved the 70’s trim you showed at the end! Thanks!

Haha--you always make me smile Kathy!!
French jet is glass. Made for the masses as opposed to the natural Whitby jet, which is wood and flammable
Great findings!! I adore vintage sewing notions and also scissors!! Love the idea of selling assorted notions in a tin🪡 🧵 Thanks for posting!
