**CORRECTION** the captions should read DEAF blindness not death blindness
Cool
Lol!
is there a way to fix it
I saw a photo of someone with a fancy matte black cane that went with her beautiful black cocktail dress, it was stunning! I know it’s controversial, but I think custom cane colors and decorations are really neat! I asked my husband to paint hot rod flames on mine!
If it makes you feel better about using a mobility tool, hot rod flames it is! haha I think there's times when white or white/red may be beneficial symbolically, but I'm definitely on team whatever colour you like!
You are in Canada too! Kewl! When I was growing up, we used to call them "pity sticks" and I hated that. I recently heard that at one point they were called a "staff of independence" and I just loved that. You asked what colour would I choose? I would like to have colours that I could match with what else I am wearing! And way I could look even more awesome AND independent! Thanks for being here for us!
Fabulous answer! I'm going to use that with some of my younger more hesitant students. A staff or wand of independence would go over beautifully! And honestly, same, I have so many cane colours now haha
I too live in Canada and I use a standard white mobility cane. Though I don’t always need a mobility cane, I find an ID cane tends to get ignored .
I would love a purple cane 😊
Good stuff! I’m more old fashioned and prefer a red and white cane for safety. I cross a lot of streets and walk In a lot of crowded places. I don’t have a problem with the colorful stuff but I prefer maximum visibility from drivers, bicyclists etc. However, I do rather like the idea of a glow in the dark cane!
Totally fair! I’m excited there’s a guy I’m chatting with who made one that has LED built in. I can’t wait to review it!
Okay I am really interested in how blind people do so many things. Do you do your own makeup? If so, how?
I definitely do. Check it out here:

The subtitles in this video actually says "red and white canes refer to DEATH blindness" and that shocked me. I had to look up what DEATH blindness even was, turned out it was just a typo lol
Oh my goodness!! That is most definitely not correct! Oops!
When the time comes I think white. But pink is tempting. I’d really like some crystals on my cane if it would be ok. Not there yet though. Just found out two weeks ago that I am going to loose my sight. I’m visually impaired now.
I think Molly Burke, another blind content creator, originally from Canada, has a pink bedazzled cane! So its definitely possible! 💖
Any notices the red tip came about in 1933 as a result of Lions Club. Many manufacturers still use Redtip, but it means that sighted should watch out for you. Mini blind people choose white without red tip because we watch out for ourselves today. Fiberglass, carbon fiber, don’t have red tip. Graphite and aluminum still have red tip because of manufacturers and low expectations for blindness. NOMC.
I find that interesting! Maybe it's where you are from, but every cane I've ever ordered has defaulted to a red section at the bottom, including fibreglass and the carbon fibre. I've only started to explore other colours of canes more recently.
I had always had a white and red cane. But now my favorite cane is pink and black.
I started using a cane about 6 years ago (albino), and recently switched to pink, and had 2 different guys try to call me out as fake. I just ignored them.
I always learn so much from you ma'am. Thank you so much for all you do!
I'll take a blue cane! 😂
I like purple
Mine is Blue 💙🙆🏻♂️
How did i not know the red/white canes means D/B!
It’s a lot less common! I didn’t know until my deaf blind friend told me about the alternating red white stripe
prove that your blind
Take her word for it. Bitch, she knows too much. She is blind. So am I so close your sighted mouth..
This is not ok
