I must say: I'm truly impressed with this fine composition. I'll surely buy it. Your gusto, the harmony, are so well managed. And then this instrument...my God. Always been my "forbidden" dream; I really hope to be able to play it someday. Thank you again for this great discovery! Ciao dall'Italia!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and musicianship. It's still amazing to me that you make things just so, especially the improvisations on a weekly basis at Big John.
Daniel, thank you for this recording! I am originally from Yorkshire and drove over to Liverpool to hear recitals in the 60's; before moving to Canada and then the U.S.A. I've listened to your recordings in St.John the Divine. You play with real panache and mastery! Thank you for another wonderful recording, particularly on this superb Willis organ; I hope there is more of you playing there. Thanks again from an old Brit for bringing back great memories! John Lofthouse.
I was fortunate to attend this organ's 90th anniversary Festal Evensong and recital by Ian Tracey. And in 1970 I had the thrill of a few minutes playing it.
What a stunning Recessional piece. Always inspiring to hear this mighty Organ. It's been a long time since I've heard it 'in the flesh', so to speak. Bravo on this composition making full use of those magnificent Reed Stops!Good to hear young talent.
What a wonderful piece, organ, building and above all musician! From an ex-choral scholar, Liverpool Ang. C'dral. Thanks and going to download the sheet music now!!
Fantastic piece! I remember stopping to listen right after our departing procession! But now I can really watch you (what memories of that place! And that organ!) and hear it's joyful beauty! What a gift! ❤
I listen to this clip, almost daily. I know you wrote it for Hazel and I had the pleasure of playing her in 1997, but as a true Brit, the sound of it on this Liverpool organ is exceptional. I also like your phrasing and the fact that although the piece is rhythmic, you give it a breadth of performance that allows the music itself to breathe.
What stop did you use at the end the newly refurbished Tuba Magna or the Trompette Militaire ? I cant wait for you to record the same piece when they finally refurbish St John the divine organ.
@@DanielFicarri its amazing - I used to sit up almost every month in the 80s with Ian, the magna is less impressive at that console - imagine in the nave ! I can see you smiling through it all :). Cant wait for your St John Divine to be back this xmas - I hope you can record the same piece on that with the west end trumpets. I have been waiting for a recording of the refurbished Magna, it was finally put back (thanks to willis organ builders) on 50" last year after Harrisons reduced it in the 70's.
Religion's ONE contribution to Humanity:
Stunning architecture to house monumental instruments for which epic music is written.

A definite 'bucket list' organ for me personally. Wonderful playing, piece, and of course organ. Bravo Daniel and Bravo Henry Willis!

STUNNING!
From Christ Church Cathedral, Orange, California to Liverpool Cathedral, England. Great music for great Houses of Worship. Wonderful!

Wonderful. This piece fits perfectly for this organ!
Thank you Daniel from a new subscriber. Amazing organ and cathedral. Great video. I am in awe and respect. 10,268 pipes and 200 stops. Glory be.

WOW!!!!
How beautiful can you get....
My goodness, what a wonderful piece! And plaudits to the camera operator - using one camera so sensitively to capture the total experience.
I really enjoyed that! How do I get a copy please?

That is the Tuba Magna at the end!

It’s very hopeful……Britain needs hopeful right now as never before. The enemy is with in….invited in.
Why don't the Organist play some great anthem or hymn that the congregants know? Foolish to play a piece no one knows
Not a great piece of music.
An improvisation - not written out in score.
