My wonderful, now deceased, father would always rip up the Bishops' Lenten Appeal letter we got in the mail. "I'm not wasting good money paying for their fancy meals and martinis. " How prescient he was! And this was years ago... Nothing has changed, has it?
It has changed. But now it's far worse!!!
I have called it the Pedophile Defense Fund, (PDF) since they lost insurance coverage for SA in the 80s.
Fr Murr, new to me, is a Catholic treasure!
And he's written 2 books that provide information on things that go on inside the Vatican. Both are good reads.
Read his books. They are fantastic! 33, Godmother, Syrian, great reads!

I went to the Novus Ordo Mass first time in years. It was Peter's Pence collection Sunday Morning hardly anybody put money in the collection. I have been very sick and usually attend TLM since 2000. About 70% of the people were over 80. It was a big shock they have watered down the NO to bare bones
Yes, "Peter's Pence" is just around the corner and my inclination is not to pay until the Church makes sense! Can we be supportive of the things contrary to the Faith coming out of 'Il Vaticano'? I think not!
I am in NYC and I am quite certain that the only reason Cardinal Dolan went to bat for my very traditional parish who does the TLM is because of how much money we bring in for him. If it wasn't for the money he would have shut us down after TC. It's a troubling situation none the less.

We’re not going to let anyone push us to a lesser good anymore! It’s our souls and we get only one shot at this in life and we’re not going to take the mess and confusion!
Also remember that undesignated, general parish collections are TAXED at about 10% to the bishop/cardinal funds. If you tithe, designate it to the building fund, special specific collections etc.
Exiting Mass I give $$ to the celebrant; no 10% for Skittle Timmy Dolan!
The Church hierarchy is ignoring reality, Church attendance is falling, Churches are being closed. seminaries are practically empty
Our Bishops and priests have become political rather than spiritual.
Yes there are a few good ones, but the stone cutters in the hierarchy have them under their scrutiny.
Too many rainbow religious.
They hire those of like minds.
We have guidelines Fr Murr its the Bible and 2000 years of church writings .
Remember the stone cutters mission is to destroy Christ's church.
Life has become nothing but admin. Living has become a business. If you don't have business acumen, it's become difficult to survive. But the Church has been my sanctuary. It's supposed to be a refuge from the world, not part of it.
I give all my donations to the FSSP.

Speaking the truth
My bishop is Robert Barron. I think he delegates most of the administrative stuff to do his Word on Fire and other ministries. He is still a lot better than his predecessors who managed to bankrupt the diocese by mishandling all the priest predators we had.
I don’t think that the average person in the pew has any choice as to whether he gives to the Bishops. In our Diocese the levy has been increased by 84% to help fund the cost of defending Clergy accused of sex abuse, paying “hush money” to the victims, and providing housing and a pension to those Clergy who are no longer able to minister because of a history of sex abuse. If I put £10 in the collection plate, then about £4 goes straight to the Diocese. The Parish is left with only about £6. Our Diocese only survives because so many Churches have been closed and the land and buildings sold.
Perhaps you could send your contributions for parish maintenance or building funds. In the last 2 parishes I attended those specific funds do not go thru the diocese

Excellent advice.
Here's a sincere question, if one attends the Latin Mass, should they give their money during collection, being that the Mass is under the Novus Ordo Bishop?
If we the people do not meet the quota set for the parish for the bishop's fund the money is taken out of the parish funds. So they get their money one way or another.
I never donated to my church financially but I do give my time instead does this count?
