That shot of Jon hugging Ygritte while the battle plays out in slow motion with the music is one of my favorite shots in all TV/cinema.. it’s such a gorgeous shot!

Ygritte did kill Ollie's father, so a bit of karma there.

in fairness, keeping them captive behind the wall was the original sin, not the death of ollie father, that was just them fighting back for survival against what the ancestors of those south of the wall (and on the wall)... and of course the wildings were always the true first line of defense against the whitewalkers, even while the rest of westeros thought they'd gone extinct/disappeared.
the wildlings and the rest of westeros never should have been enemies, there enemy (both of them) was the whitewalkers (also known as "the others"), that was a choice made by those who built the wall, and those who controlled the wall since then.
and for those that don't know they wildling were DELIBERATELY kept on the other side of the wall with the whitewalkers because they refused to live under the rule of kings, and were forced to live o nthe other side of the wall
so no it wasn't really karma (karma is when the wildlings attack for what was done to them) in the sense most people mean it, but rather a cycle of violence that started 8000 years before.

Jon knows Ollie had every right to kill her even though it still makes him sad. The blurry lines are one of the things that makes this a great story.

The blurred lines definitely make this show as intense as it is. Shock and understanding combine into an intense emotional journey

both are true, and for the same reason. a person with true love or a true sense of duty are both all encompassing of a person.

Yes season 4 is absolutely great and my favorite of the series but, don’t be nervous about the rest of the seasons. Watch them without influence from some fans negativity, you might be pleasantly surprised. For what it’s worth, I enjoyed seasons 1 thru 7 and I liked season 8, somewhat. Anyway, even after all of these years, Game of Thrones still remains my favorite show of all time. The way they had a chokehold on my life…

the hails of arrows aren't technically meant to hit them, they are meant to stop the military advancement. think of a hail of arrows as a machine gun/assault rifle laying down suppressive fire while the rest of your people ready the actual attack... hits are bonus, but mostly its meant to delay them or breaks their groups up.

    "how tall are giants"
in game of thrones giants are on average 10-12 feet tall, wun wun (the wildling giant) is a taller than average giant at 14 feet tall, and is supposed to be as strong as 12 men
for comparison, gregor clegane (the mountain) is supposed to be about 8 feet tall, so nearly twice the height of the tallest person in westeros.

    Hi Lipps.
Since I didn't got any reply to my comment under ep. 7, I'm reposting this, just in case it catchess your eye this time, cause it's pretty much a must, as I think you'll love this 🙂 :
Hi Lipps. I'm not sure how far you are with the show on Patreon, but let me note that (I hope you were told before) after this season you should most definitely make time to watch Coldplay's Red-nose-day-charity Game of Thrones musical. It's only 12 minutes and it's amazing! Full video is on the Coldplay's channel - ua-cam.com/video/zs7xO5P3Az4/v-deo.html
After that I recommend watching also the full version of Tyrion's song, which is absolutely awsome (ua-cam.com/video/1URvDyzh8uI/v-deo.html)
Thank you for your reaction, looking forward to more

Anyone know how Maester Aemon went blind? He remembers how his lost love looked? The color of her eyes?

    • @Enkijamenk
      @Enkijamenk 3 місяці тому +2

Age, most-likely. Something that we frequently correct for with technology now, like AMD, age-related macular degeneration. In the books, it's explained he could definitely still see when he Took the Black in 233 AC, when he was 35 years old (already a Maester, he went to The Wall to make absolutely sure he couldn't be used as a political tool in any kind of plot against his brother, Aegon V, or "Egg," once he ascended the throne). But he was definitely blind by the time of the culmination of Robert's Rebellion in 283 AC, at age 85, as he himself said he was old and blind when his honor was tested. So, sometime in those 50 years, he went blind. When it happens from age, it usually happens after 60, so, by the time of the books (and show), he's already been blind for at least 25 years, possibly as much as 50 years, since Aemon is so very old, being something like 101 or 102 in this episode (the oldest man in all of Westeros, apparently, according to The Citadel). Though it should be noted that the show cares MUCH less about proper continuity than the books. They flat-out removed a king when Aemon told Jon who he was in Season 1 (Aegon V was Aerys II's _grandfather_ , not _father_ , they just eliminated Jaehaerys II and his entire generation of Targaryens for some reason). In fact, I can't imagine who that lost love could be, since Aemon became a Maester at ten years old. Maybe before he left for The Wall, he broke his Maester's vows one time? And, considering the Targaryens' proclivities, that makes one of his two sisters, Daella or Rhae, likely candidates, whilst Aemon served as the Maester at Dragonstone under his brother, Daeron, while Aemon was in his 20s. Daella would have been in her mid-20s at the time, and Rhae would have been in her late-teens or early-20s. Since people get married young in Westeros, and we know that both sisters eventually married and had children, I'm betting on Rhae, since Daella would have probably already been married.

@@morpheusjones4753 We will! They’re making an adaptation of the Hedge Knight novellas about young “Egg” and his adventures with Duncan the Tall called “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”! It comes out next year. We should get to see young Maester-in-training Aemon with his brother a few times. :D
