I replaced an ES2 system in a Taylor 514ce (which I love) in order to get something that did justice to the guitar. Your video helped a great deal. Thanks. I replaced it with a K&K Trinity Mini Pro and I am so happy with it. It sounds exactly like the guitar while the Taylor ES2 is disgustingly piezo. Make sure you get the 'Pro' version because the phase adjustment is a gas.
Man I'd love a Martin, and the D28 is kinda the granddady of most acoustics that you see in the shops-the Dreadnought. Martin got there first and then everyone copied the design. My Fender Dread is based on that shape. Sweet.
Im trying to install this on my fender f65 and i feel like its sac religious too drill the hole out. I keep trying but then i just stare at it because i know i cant go back after lol is this gonna mess my vintage guitar up or just improve it?
Davo! i've not watched your videos for way to long man. i have a baby taylor and i was looking for a discreet pickup and i came across the fishman sonitone but to install it i'd have to drill out a hole for the end pin jack. how easy would this be and how dangerous? thanks Dave
oddly entertaining video actually! I believe that is the LR Baggs iBeam pickup, right? I have one in an Epi Masterbilt DR-500 and am very happy with the sound, but will say when playing gigs with other guys a soundhole cover is a must to prevent feedback.
Poor little guitar. Rode hard and put in the barn wet! I have a question and you guys sure know what you are doing so you may be able to help me out. I have a Martin D-35 and I want to install the best pickup for this guy that I can. I am working n Djibouti Africa for the Navy and I have to order on line and it takes a while to arrive so I want to get the best I can first time. I am a jack of all trades so I am pretty sure I can install whatever you guys think is the best that would keep the good old Martin sound going through an amp. I sure would appreciate any guidance you would have for me. Thanks so much and keep up the great video work!!!!
Thanks Brother Bear! I will stick with a sound hole set up and keep Mr. Martin in its original configuration. I will research the Fishman brands and see what I can come up with. Thanks again buddy.
Busterroderigas Did you get a Fishman pickup? Because I had one for years and didn't like it and it finally died this year. I'm looking for a new pickup system on my 71 Martin D18.
Breaks my heart to see a Martin D28 in such deplorable condition. He's owned the guitar for 30 years and it looks like he used it as a campfire guitar. SAD!!!
John Schips it got played. I'd much rather see a guitar that had been played for ever Then a guitar that sits in some room for years never touched. Look at willie Neilsons trigger that's things hella beat up
Hey for anyone that may be interested... I Have a 2001 Martin D-35 in 9.8 out of 10 condition on sale for only $ 1,500... Pass the word around would you... Thanks Dude!
Model Cement? Really Dave??? You know that Squirreleymind at the people we love to hate would only use tiitybond glue with his proprietary clamping system that will only work on a D28 . Shame on you!!!
I was just dieing for you to strum that and when you did, I got goosebumps and tingles down my spine, beautiful sound, that things got soul man !

Been there, done that and that's why I'm still in a 12 step program at T.A. (Testors Anonymous).
Nice Martin, good video on installing the LR Baggs pickup
btw that guitar is amazing! according to the martin website, the serial number puts it at 1969. looks very well used as a guitar should be!
Sweet old Martin!
Great video as always, informative and fun, thank you !
Is there anyway to check and get a guitar's saddles into the right radius with you the stew mac tool? thanks I know that is most likely no lol
thanks
Dave what'd you do to stop the problem of the plastic peices falling off at the bottom?

That guitar needs some love....it's been used that's for sure.
Why did you pack some of your stuff?
Great Sound!

Love the vids Dave, good luck with the move! What will the new workshop be like? And does it have noise makers in it?
Are you saying this Baggs pickup feeds back and does not sound good?... But at the end you were strumming it and said it sounded nice and natural.
what tesa double sided tape do you use they have so many types of double sided tape love your videos you know your stuff
He looked after that d28 pretty well

I have the Martin thin line in mine, sounds natural and don't hurt the natural vibrations of the bridge like the stick on pickup!
Good stuff Dave! Funny too! ;)
Might be best for installation of this sort of system to be done by someone who (a) knows the name LR Baggs and (b) has done this job before.
oh no! no more goof! we really should have a youtube party in his back yard.
good job bro...
Yeah yeah, fist fuck that guitar.
I see Dave from Moscow and marvel why he has so little views?
I am talking about George the greek which may be worst than your next door neighbor HaHa!
I want this guitar so badly. If the owner sees this comment. Please contact me as would love to buy this guitar.

Derrick King I agree. This guitar looks like it was extra loved. Getting close to Trigger
I never understood why people get so heated about what other people do with their own guitars.
Hush
Ask George, He will give you my phone number
