Another really important thing about playing Meowth, is that only 1 of my Machamp's is full art. Getting more draws before my 3rd turn increases chances of getting to play the good one.
4:05 I think that's what Jeff's main problem with Meowth has always been: People solely using it for card draw and not for the reason a basic would be typically used, as a meat shield or as early damage - and Meowth does both of those badly. Using it to go into Persian is clearly better and likely why Jeff is happier with it in this build.
Wow, I actually got the 5-0 in one go with this - with a slight alteraruon: I don't have Kangaskhan, so I included a second Giovanni. I beat (in order): Pikachu EX, Pikachu EX, Charizard EX, Starmie EX, and Charizard EX. The Pika matches were very simple due to the type advantage, and the Starmie went down thanks to Machamp's 120 + Giovanni. The most intimidating matches were the Charizard ones. But in both, the single Persian made the difference, chipping away at their Moltres' and Chars just enough to get them down to the 120 range (along with providing a little disruption and tanking a 60-70 range hit). I was stuck on multiple 3 and 4 win streak attempts before trying this deck - can confirm works great even without the Mama Khan. Thanks Jeff!!!
Machamp EX was my first "real" deck. I pulled the 2 star rainbow boarder Machamp and loved it. I used my own version to win my emblems today as well! I somehow raced and beat a Mewtwo with a Gardevoir on board for the 5th win. Felt so good.
unbelievable. I won a game where both machokes were the last two cards of the deck against a pikachu ex deck. just because the opponent had an aerodactyl for some reason and had terrible coin flips with it (3 tails), while I had good luck with persian and kangashkan (2 out of 3 heads with the former, 2 heads in the only attack of the latter). I also took out their jigglypuff at turn 2 thanks to giovanni, with machop, ahah I won because they didn't switch out their pikachu ex with half health for the fully healed one in the bench. maybe they forgot that its weakness is fighting and thought they could survive one attack from machoke by having 60 HP? XD if so, I hope they had another giovanni in hand otherwise they would have lost anyway. P.S. aaand that's 5 wins in a row at the first try with this deck! thank you, man!
Videos like this continue to prove me right in that i never run red card id rather run giovanni for a possbile KO earlier, or sabrina for pivots and easy kos, or potion to stall for an extra turn, heck even pokedex is better with pokeball to see if you draw what you need and if you dont like it, reshuffle with pokeball
I played against this deck’s pilot in the Ursii tournament (I was using Greninja Mewtoo). His version with red card was terrifying, he managed to red card me into persian attacking 2 times. It was a close set, I recorded it if you’d like to see a clip of that play 🫶
Hey Jeff, loving your videos, what is the probability calculator you use at 29:25? I would love to use it myself. Thanks as always for the analysis, love how strongly your opinions are backed up by actual stats! 🤓 Sincerely, a man with a minor in statistics 😉
I’m also a data scientist and previous competitive magic the gathering player. I think I’m still undecided on if red card is objectively bad. I could see it being a one of tech card in attrition based matchups where people are setting up a hand of tactics (think a venasaur deck setting up) I think I agree it’s not good in this meta, but I could picture a meta where it could be good in some matchups.
I think the only real value it generates currently is pressuring people to play out cards they might otherwise hold for a turn or two to conceal information, but the value gained from this is pretty minimal. In general the small deck sizes here just mean that in longer games of attrition there are going to be so few cards left in the late game you are almost certain to redraw whatever they took away even if they had it to begin with.
It's so bizarre to me that there is still even a debate around red card. Half the time it's used against me I redraw what I wanted anyway, and the other half the time my hand is bricked and I'm praying they red card me
Loving these "off meta" brews competing in the big leagues and actually winning without YT's magic 😂 Also really appreciate that last game free win you gave your opponent, that's something i'll definitely be doing after securing my 5 wins👍
Cool deck, but before anyone get's clickbaited into crafting 2 Machamp EXs I want to point out that for two of these games Jeff had the basic-stage 2 line in his opening hand, whereas one of his opponents had their two stage 2s on the bottom 3 cards of their deck. As Jeff says, you can get wins with any deck when variance breaks your way. Don't spend 1000 pack points because of a youtube video.
This core has put up results in community tournaments the last two weeks in a row. But yes, no one should be spending pack points on Machamp. Optimal line is never spend pack points. Horde them like a dragon.
I used a tentacruel/bruxish/omastar deck to beat those disgusting meta decks and get 5 wins! Also, this deck looks super fun to use, thanks as always Jeff!
I was so close to the 5 in a row with charizard/arcanine/moltres and on game 5 I only drew Charmander and my opponent slammed Articuno EX + a 5 energy Misty on turn 1. Bruh. Also, one of the 1-4 game was against a Mewtwo EX deck who Red Carded me twice, and each red card gave me a piece I was missing at the time, and the red cards my opponent used were the only reason why I won that game.
I got my 5 with Starmie EX/Tentacruel. I pretty much got lucky with match-ups though. I played against 2 Charizards and only had 1 Pikachu in my 5. I know a lot of people have already said it, and I'm ngl, I've said it in other comment sections, but I just am not a fan of the consecutive win format for this game. I could be wrong, but I swear this game is more luck reliant then the average card game
Needed to start from the begining 5 times, because everytime, i got Misty'd with 7 head turn , even got swept by a Dewgong because of that ... But got the win streak at the end with Moltres, Arcanine and Charizard deck.
37:46 Could they have retreated the lapras to the tentacool, hit you for 30 down to 90? They don't lose if the tentacool gets knocked out, and if you sabrina up the starmie ex you can't giovanni to knock it out.
Had perfect curves and starting on the go second energy 3 ganes in a row and ran into nothing but pikachu which still out paced my best starts. Back to pika ex for win streak here.
I faced the other variant of this deck with red card and crushed it with charizard/arcanine ex. It was after I got my emblem but it still interested me since I really like using Machamp.
thankfully the rewards that matter are for simple participation as this event is even worse than the "win 45 times". i really hope this isn't a staple design
I kinda want to stir the pot a little. I think Red Card might be good with Persian. Maybe not in this deck, but maybe a different deck that more prominently plays Persian.
Funny thing is, I went 3-0 twice in a row (once with Blaine, once with a brew) Both times it was easy wins vs three Mewtwo decks in a row, and then immediately dying the instant I faced something other than Mewtwo 😂
The decision making with Mewtwo is pretty unexciting. It's often just 3 or 4 turns of building your 150 damage move, hoping to draw well. Sometimes you get a bit of maneuvering with your front line tank. I'm a fairly skilled player (used to be a monthly top ranked Hearthstone player) so it's extra frustrating to me, because the deck is so linear it reduces opportunities for skill expression and increases opportunities for your bad luck or your opponent's good luck to be the deciding factor in who wins the game. That said I do like Mewtwo the Pokémon, and it was fun blasting people for 150s! But personally for me the deck got a little stale.
I did 4 wins and then my 5th opponent just instantly conceded so I'm not going to complain. My 4th win was capped off with a Misty instantly flipping tails
I think after 2 1/2 months of tournaments and experience, it’s safe to say that red card is heavily overrated imo. I have to agree with Jeff that from a game theory standpoint it just doesn’t work. Most of the time red card is being traded 1-1 with an opponents card or helping their hand. It’s only really good against stage 2 decks and even then it’s not reliable. I would much rather run another x speed, potion, or trainer depending on the deck.
I lost a decent number of games to a red card... am I the problem? >_> though most of them were before I learned to not use Oak right away if I don't need it (like on the first turn if I have enough basics).
It’s a good card to play when the adversary used professors research. Even more annoying if they used both. Sometimes, when used late against a slow start deck, it can single handedly win you the game. If you use it at the start against a fast start deck, it’s not that good
@@cridus_ it’s prevalent in the meta rn so even if it’s not good you still have to play around it, otherwise you’re giving it value. When I have my evolutions in hand I don’t play professors research.
My 5 wins in a first try was quite anti-climactic. I was playing pure aggro water deck with goldluck and starmie EX + Articuno EX just because I opened my first copy on that day and I had one empty slot so I just put it in to see how it feels to be in this position. 1 game - opponent concides instantly (probably because he was fire deck) 2 game - another fire deck, two charmanders, no moltres, concide on turn 2. 3 game - another fire deck, this one would be a challange because charizard was full strenght but opponent played one more pokemon so I sabrina them for the win. 4 game - the only TRUE cool game, against my counter, electric deck, however in some way F2P, because opponent run 2 electric cards which are not meta. Anyway I made some fantastic retreat into good destrubition of energy in order to win, I was really proud of that game, altough if opponent decided to go for 50-50 coinflip he could win. 5 game - feelsbadman.... I played articuno as my starter and rolled 9 heads with misty. What a terrible design. NEVER AGAIN.
I know why, but its hilarious to me that you call adding persian to a meowth list an "innovation". Are there any other basics with evolutions beside caterpie and meowth that suggest maybe they are playable without their evolutions?
I mean thats something the original list could do yeah, but it's not a particularly important part of what the deck does. If that was the goal of the deck it would have 2 persians and 2 red cards. The whole point of the deck is to machamp people.
first try "easy" event.... first game the opponent didn't draw his cards, second game opponent's misty flipped tails and didn't draw a potion, third game no dugtrio for opponent while you had a perfect draw (again, but meowth helps ofc), fourth game perfect draw for you (again) and no venusaur for opponent, last game another perfect draw for you while also going second (again). Calling this event "easy" thanks to this winstreak is cringe honestly
Another really important thing about playing Meowth, is that only 1 of my Machamp's is full art. Getting more draws before my 3rd turn increases chances of getting to play the good one.
You consistently have the best deck constructions and information.
Thanks!
It’s true

Nice build, I've been wanting to experiment with Persian but never figured out a deck list for it, nice to see it get some love
Tried yesterday for nearly 8 hours and failed a few time on the 5th game, played this deck and went 5-0. Thanks Jeff
Wow, I actually got the 5-0 in one go with this - with a slight alteraruon: I don't have Kangaskhan, so I included a second Giovanni.

Saw this live. Love the thumbnail and title. Content is awesome
I used it yesterday and it worked out for me going 5-0 (took like an hour or two lol), thank you for sharing the deck with us!
Thanks, Jeff, got my five with this deck. Super sceptical at first but persisted with it for the eventual win.
Machamp EX was my first "real" deck. I pulled the 2 star rainbow boarder Machamp and loved it.
I used my own version to win my emblems today as well! I somehow raced and beat a Mewtwo with a Gardevoir on board for the 5th win. Felt so good.
Nice job sticking it to the meta deck with a deck meant to be easy for them
I used this to get my 5-0. Thank you this felt really strong.
I used exeggutor greninja with a wiggly to get my 5 wins. Super fun deck!
Can you share the deck list?
That Meowth full art is so good.
I'm over here sweating it out with my Mewtwo Greninja deck and this guy gets 5 in a row with Persian Machamp 😂nothing but respect
Got my emblem with a staple pika deck. Looking forward to more decks like this.
Likewise. People can call me meta slave, but I got this emblem within 20 minutes. Now I have the rest of the week to chill, so fuck them.
Chef’s kiss on the *good* red card from your opponent on your last win for the emblem lol I’m gonna put more flairs on my red cards now
I used the classic Starmie EX Greninja deck you featured a couple months ago and had great success today.
unbelievable. I won a game where both machokes were the last two cards of the deck against a pikachu ex deck. just because the opponent had an aerodactyl for some reason and had terrible coin flips with it (3 tails), while I had good luck with persian and kangashkan (2 out of 3 heads with the former, 2 heads in the only attack of the latter).

if so, I hope they had another giovanni in hand otherwise they would have lost anyway.
P.S. aaand that's 5 wins in a row at the first try with this deck! thank you, man!

Clean 5-0 on the first try with this one 🙏 all hail MEGA PUNCH
Im the guy that had you do the machamp / marowak deck last week. I just switched to this build and got a 4 win streak. Its pretty solid!
Great work Jeff, the best TCGP content like always
I played against this deck’s pilot in the Ursii tournament (I was using Greninja Mewtoo). His version with red card was terrifying, he managed to red card me into persian attacking 2 times. It was a close set, I recorded it if you’d like to see a clip of that play 🫶
Post it on you channel 😊
This event is kind of ruining pocket for me, hate to say it but this is exactly what I didn’t want
Agree. The structure is a burn out inducer for sure.

Stat Trek hyper geo calculator: stattrek.com/online-calculator/hypergeometric
I believe it's a hypergeo calculator. if you google that, you'll probably find it in the top few links

That twist at the end. True streamer moves. XD
I used the Weezing/Arbok/Koga/Wiggly EX deck and it got me my 5 in a row. Surprisingly faster than I expected. And a super fun deck imo.
MegaMogwai fan, my brother in christ, you have great taste

The kangaskhan is a perfect fit. Considering cutting the second Meowth
Why did you change out the Pokédex? Did you not like the check 3 cards then pokeball to shuffle a better next hand?
That is not good, no.
got my 5-0 pretty easily this morning with your greninja starmie ex build ive been playing for a while now
You're the best youtuber here in pokemon tcg compared to other UA-camr XD
I used a tentacruel/bruxish/omastar deck to beat those disgusting meta decks and get 5 wins! Also, this deck looks super fun to use, thanks as always Jeff!
Watched it live, one and done!
Figured I'll try this deck for the event cause why not. Literally won 5 consecutive games 1st try as well lmaoo
I was so close to the 5 in a row with charizard/arcanine/moltres and on game 5 I only drew Charmander and my opponent slammed Articuno EX + a 5 energy Misty on turn 1. Bruh.

what were you using to calc the odds of redrawing machamp at 29:37?
stattrek.com/online-calculator/hypergeometric
Needed to start from the begining 5 times, because everytime, i got Misty'd with 7 head turn , even got swept by a Dewgong because of that ... But got the win streak at the end with Moltres, Arcanine and Charizard deck.
I did it with Brock and onyx deck beating both pika and mewtwo decks, but I did get lucky with the Marowark getting 2 heads to ko the Mewtwo😅😅
This deck is kinda fun
37:46

thankfully the rewards that matter are for simple participation as this event is even worse than the "win 45 times". i really hope this isn't a staple design
I got a 4 win streak with a dugtrio/machamp ex deck. Knew I was gonna lose that 5th game 😭
A bit sad you didn’t name the deck Meowchamp
I kinda want to stir the pot a little. I think Red Card might be good with Persian. Maybe not in this deck, but maybe a different deck that more prominently plays Persian.
I went 15-0 with mewtwo and decided I needed to stop. I am the problem
Is it fun? I have personally not played any meta decks
Funny thing is, I went 3-0 twice in a row (once with Blaine, once with a brew) Both times it was easy wins vs three Mewtwo decks in a row, and then immediately dying the instant I faced something other than Mewtwo 😂

I won with machamp marrowak. Had 2 EX of each and 1 non Ex of each to make sure I force my opponent to take 4 prizes.
Used this and got my 5 win streak!
i wish i have a second copy of machamp EX, the deck seems nice
I did 4 wins and then my 5th opponent just instantly conceded so I'm not going to complain. My 4th win was capped off with a Misty instantly flipping tails
The 1st time I saw red card I was sure it was bad and never changed my mind
Guess that's why they call him oone shoot Hoog.
Got my consentive 5 wins with my Articuno / Grenninja deck. With Shit Misty luck. fliped like 2 heads the whole time.
I got 3 wins in a row my first shot With WigglyEggs, then ran into Persian Greninja and it kinda stumped me...
I know that he's a good player but the amount of times he verbally expresses that he is a good player is something... 😅
If only this game wasn't solely based on luck and card draw lol.
I can't believe I easily won using two zapdos ex
Well no matter how good you cards are if the bot gives you a shit start it is basically over
Hello sir good video!
got rid of the pokédex eh 😂

kind of bm when you dont give the opponent a thanks :P
can this deck beat mewtwo?
I assume most likely not, it seems like an extremely uphill matchup. On the flipside though, your Pika EX match is probably pretty decent
My 5 wins in a first try was quite anti-climactic.
I was playing pure aggro water deck with goldluck and starmie EX + Articuno EX just because I opened my first copy on that day and I had one empty slot so I just put it in to see how it feels to be in this position.
1 game - opponent concides instantly (probably because he was fire deck)
2 game - another fire deck, two charmanders, no moltres, concide on turn 2.
3 game - another fire deck, this one would be a challange because charizard was full strenght but opponent played one more pokemon so I sabrina them for the win.
4 game - the only TRUE cool game, against my counter, electric deck, however in some way F2P, because opponent run 2 electric cards which are not meta. the only thing I can think of is psyduck with gengar. I do have that deck but I had mixed results with it.
Change your deck name to meowchamp rn
The whole point of the red card from the original list was so that you red card, followed by Persian attack leaving them with 2 cards in hand😊
I mean thats something the original list could do yeah, but it's not a particularly important part of what the deck does. If that was the goal of the deck it would have 2 persians and 2 red cards. The whole point of the deck is to machamp people.
The sad thing about red card is that it is easy to make better. All it has to do is put the hand to the bottom, draw the cards, and then shuffle.
This build with blastoise is also crazy fun. I wanna see how it feels with gengar, but i only have one copy 😔
first try "easy" event.... first game the opponent didn't draw his cards, second game opponent's misty flipped tails and didn't draw a potion, third game no dugtrio for opponent while you had a perfect draw (again, but meowth helps ofc), fourth game perfect draw for you (again) and no venusaur for opponent, last game another perfect draw for you while also going second (again). Calling this event "easy" thanks to this winstreak is cringe honestly
9-2 with meta zard
