I have been watching various videos on this subject, reading blogs, etc., trying to determine how the orthodox methodologies have changed/progressed since I was a young guy, and started doing my own home repairs. Things are pretty static over the past 40+ years with drywall maintenance and repair. Recently I hung a large TV on the LR wall and had three (3) holes approximately 1-inch square to patch. They were used to snake wires to a soundbar. Yesterday 8/10/23 I went to ACE Hardware and purchased a pack of four (4) 2-inch square DAP Eclipse wall patches. I followed the instructions. The paint just dried a few minutes ago. The finished product is good. I had no problems. If I look at the repaired area, I can't see any evidence of the patch or where the holes were. My wife is happy. Case closed. I had no issue patching smaller holes with this product. Just my $0.02.

Home Depot or Lowe's... My issue is someone had opened most of them at these locations. People are curious and open and then don't buy. I ended up ordering mine from Amazon. They're expensive but if this works I'll be happy. Should save a lot of time.

Actually, folks wouldn't need to hire folks like you are outrageous prices for great solutions like this.

I don't think this is for professionals. It's for the do-it-yourselfer. And I bought it to do it myself...

@Ripple no, this really is junk, this crap. The right way is just as easy Try selling your house with patches sticking out. Try selling it with a bunch of DIY mistakes like this. Mistakes like this bring your property value down. We charge $50
per patch to fix it right, you couldn't buy the tools and materials for that.

@Danny I'm sure no one would sell their home like this. It's called a quick fix. I'm going to use this product this week.
*Edit:* "The right way" costs a lot of money. But when I'm actually ready to renovate that bedroom, I'm going to get a contractor to repair the hole. But, as mentioned, for now, I'm using this product...

@rachybaby72 look up Vancouver Carpenter on here. He tells you how to do this work and makes it simple and understandable. He's by far the best on UA-cam. His shows are based around DIY guys and he walks you through how to do it the right way and least expensive way.
Edit: there is a lady here that wanted to list a $450k condo. Agent walked it 2 weeks ago and called me in because of the patches and paint job, she did it herself with her daughter. I'm pricing it to help her out of a bind but it is still the same, DIY fix turned into a last minute issue. I hope yours turns out well. It's not that hard to do, I taught my son in junior high to do this stuff. Oh and Kilted Drywall Guy is good too. Learned a lot from both. Good luck on yours.

The only place I can see this being useful is on the set of some TV show.

So I just used this and I DO NOT recommend it. You definitely can see the sticker patch, I've put 4 coats on it and it's noticeable. To bad because it would of saved me lots of time.

Right, they should show a side angle with a light on it to see if we can notice any bumps not direct on unfinished product.

I think if it's a place where you'd like a screw or nail to go in afterward, I don't think a handyman would be replaced with this.
