Just randomly looked up "Bastardizer" looking for metal, thinking it was a totally metal title and click the first thing I saw...I couldn't be happier with the results.
I love norma jean so much I dont care about how the old one was better or not of what kinda music is this , just call it norma jean , glad this guys still kicking ass
As much time that is spent arguing about genres what ever happened to not caring what is classified as and just got back to enjoying music for what it is.
Same here..I don't really follow any particular faith but find these guys hard to not listen to. It's not like I have this uncontrollable urge to attend church every Sunday now after I listen an album. It's music..art...people should just listen to it and take what they need from it?
They don't fit the bill for summer slaughter. But I also don't care because they're gonna be the freaking best band there!!! So excited! Also Dillenger, Periphery, and Animals as Leaders will be awesome. But still. None compare to the Almighty Norma Jean.
also their last album is awesome I think, way better than the previous ones, more melodic, more catchy, more "metalcore" without being a metalcore album of course
I was talking about an All Shall Perish song when I said Black Gold Reign. All Shall Perish is anything but generic, they are deathcore, but not generic deathcore.
Well its good to know that you understood what I meant more than I did when I typed it. Because I mean c'mon, why would I know what I meant? That's just stupid! Some guy on the other side of the world clearly understands it better 4 months after I wrote it...... #logic
I was asking, have you heard them? Have you heard what they sound like? Don't judge genres by "core" or no "core." You like the genre Metal right, well, what if that genre originally had "core" in the name? What if there was a genre called "Applecore" and you gave it a try, then you found out you really love it; would you say "I really love this, but, it has 'core' in the genre name, so that means I don't love it?"
Metalcore is such a huge genre. Most Metalcore you see in the mainstream like AA or anything on Sumerian or Rise is generic and bland there is no disagreeing. But they make up a minority amongst the mass of bands doing amazing stuff. 80% of Deathcore sounds the same and 40% of Metalcore sounds the same
They are different from Converge and DEP as they are more structured but equally heavy and chaotic. You'll notice that when you cover their songs. There should be more bands like Norma Jean. Heavy and chaotic but not your usual bland metalcore / screamo shit you kids label nowadys.
minds0ulfist man my band did a cover set of the first two albums...I learned them but our drummer...couldn't and he's a badass their shit is so chaotic lol
Actually, they aren't. Converge and Earth Crisis were among the first metalcore bands in the early 1990's. As far as Christian bands in metalcore, Zao was the first band to do metalcore. Norma Jean was known as Luti-Kriss in 1997, but weren't well known until the name change and their 2002 album "Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child."
i love this band and i dont care if there cristian the only bands that annoy me are the ones who preach jesus in every fucking song i mean like for today but others like norma jean, august burns red, cant think of any right now but bands that are cristian but dont just write about how i should be to
Because I totally said that all Deathcore is generic... I said the genre as a whole is, and you cant deny that. Obviously there are original bands, but on a whole Deathcore is so bland
I see you're ignoring and not acknowledging my point very well. I see you're bad-tempered and probably has a cat-like personality (if you know how that is.) I have a guess on how you're going to reply to me, or maybe you won't at all.
Im a Christian!, It doesn't limit me to what I listen to or control me all I know is that where my heart is and... Thats all I need to say. To each their own. I PERSONALLY THINK THIS IS GARBAGE! Same ole' Norma Jean' Ive seen them live with Innerpartysystem GREAT SHOW THEY ARE GOOD LIVE... But this is nonsense... IF YOU "FOUND A BETTER WAY" GO DO IT! I do like the album "The Anti-mother" and anything before that... but come on? IMHO I came to this page just to make a statement thats all.
ANYTHING that has core at the end of it fucking SUCKS. Norma Jean and All shall Perish BOTH equally suck. I've never even heard of Mathcore lol. Go learn something about music and listen to REAL bands before you ever try to "school" anyone on what's unoriginal and who's amazing.
@Corjolay to how it affected humanity & then to how those who believe in the word of God & apply it to their lives that they found finally the way they r suppose to be living not the way that going in circles hurting ur own heart, something like dat, u interpret how u see it, i said how i see it, gud day =D
Dude what's the name of your band you can't just be a tease like that and not give us your band's name lol but seriously I want to check out your stuff it must be pretty awesome if you're playing with those guys.
Just randomly looked up "Bastardizer" looking for metal, thinking it was a totally metal title and click the first thing I saw...I couldn't be happier with the results.
It’s technically hardcore which is punk but it’s still extremely heavy
Man this song never gets old. That breakdown at the end is hauntingly beautiful
A ton of Metalcore is the exact same, it's the bands that carve their own sound and style make it worth the listen.
This band simply will not die and I love it
Still going stronger than ever
It’s the Almighty Norma Jean. It can’t be killed.
🤭
SHE SIMPLY WILL NOT DIE!!!! SHE SIMPLY WILL NOT DIE!!!! SHE SIMPLY WILL NOT DIE!!!!
hey 2:00 still rocks just as hard as it did like 5 years ago.
In 2019 still.
timeless
Truly a band that stays true to it's roots. They've been totally awesome for over a decade
that scream can't be counfounded :D :D
Good job
Getting back into nj. I can’t believe one of their best albums was released in 2010.
2:32 O' God The Aftermath reference :DDDD
Never forget that logo.
This song just kills.
I love norma jean so much I dont care about how the old one was better or not of what kinda music is this , just call it norma jean , glad this guys still kicking ass
I always loved that little chug trade at 3:13.
Ça torche en criss ! Sa sonne super bien !
2022 still here
I like Norma Jean irregardless of whatever their genre is. Most people got the music genres wrong anyway.
Awesome! Im promoting at the show! (:
harmony at 2:22, gotta love it :)
'Meridional' = album of the year 2010.
Norma jean es lo que hay :D
Love that old school hardcore breakdown, brings back memories
I'm playing a show with these guys, I The Breather, Born Of Osiris, and the word alive next month and I'm soo psyched!
GE LOOOL
did anyone else notice that the drum part at the beginning sounds exactly like Converge's Eagles Become Vultures? Anyway...both great songs
country metal \m/
when is this band gonna come out with a new album?
you began your statement nicely but you ended reminding me these kids that argue about genre
Fucking awesome.
The way people bitch about ads I feel like I'm the only person with adblock plus on google chrome lol
The guitarist is wearing a Jordan Buckley T-shirt
Because ETID is the shizz!
Pretty sure its name is Patrick O'Neil, I heard it in an interview once
@rufioftw08 was scottie henry back with them?
does anyone know the name of that doublecut guitar?
Is the guitarist wearing that white shirt from another band? he looks like familiar, like the guitarists for August Burns Red maybe?
Every time I die
They don't fit the bill for summer slaughter. But I also don't care because they're gonna be the freaking best band there!!! So excited! Also Dillenger, Periphery, and Animals as Leaders will be awesome. But still. None compare to the Almighty Norma Jean.
@Tylerosaurus You didn't like Redeemer??? To me next to Their first record it's their best one =/
are those strings really doing that or is that camera effects?
It's called a stroboscopic effect. There are all kinds of examples on youtube. Pretty cool.
The strings really do that but we just see it as a blur. I think they use high speed cameras to catch the vibrations more vividly.
It sounded like the scream at the end is shorter in this video.
also their last album is awesome I think, way better than the previous ones, more melodic, more catchy, more "metalcore" without being a metalcore album of course
Dat Jordan Buckley T-shit!
bass strings
Mathcore is not a new thing, its been around for ages.
It basically means that its real chaotic
Dem squigly strings remind me of octapuses.
what's the gold(?) guitar the lead guitarist's using in this vid?
Alfian Banjaransari it's a custom first act believe it or not lol. I dig how they have o God the aftermath images in this video lol
anybody know what kind of guitar the double cutaway is?
Derik Dunson First act custom
i got a creepy obvious pothead staring at me on the side of this video ._.
I was talking about an All Shall Perish song when I said Black Gold Reign. All Shall Perish is anything but generic, they are deathcore, but not generic deathcore.
I FOUND A BETTER WAY!!!!!!!!
The volume is set WAY too low on this video.
Well its good to know that you understood what I meant more than I did when I typed it. Because I mean c'mon, why would I know what I meant? That's just stupid! Some guy on the other side of the world clearly understands it better 4 months after I wrote it......
#logic
I wonder if he ever found a better way
+FUCKINMETALROCKS lol
I dont think vevo knows who norma jean is. It shows country music ads lmao
Have you heard Dancecore, Speedcore, Splittercore, or Breakcore?
I was asking, have you heard them? Have you heard what they sound like? Don't judge genres by "core" or no "core." What is that camera doing in the glory hole?
you're right :D
ADBlock

80% of Deathcore sounds the same and 40% of Metalcore sounds the same
WHY? WHYYY? WHY WHY WHY?
Yes... why?

Hey, I think he found a better way.

are they the pioneers of nu metalcore?
Who cares what genre it is? This is sick. Don't like it? Go somewhere else and enjoy something else.
I don't think so...
*scared
i love this band and i dont care if there cristian the only bands that annoy me are the ones who preach jesus in every fucking song i mean like for today but others like norma jean, august burns red, cant think of any right now but bands that are cristian but dont just write about how i should be to
These guys are a Christian band, right? I hate to sound like the comments buzzkill, but y'know.
You said Deathcore is generic. Therefore, you said all Deathcore is generic. It's not that complicated bud.
Memphis will be laid to waste. the only good song. this stuff isnt too good really.
Because I totally said that all Deathcore is generic... I said the genre as a whole is, and you cant deny that. Obviously there are original bands, but on a whole Deathcore is so bland
no
I see you're ignoring and not acknowledging my point very well. I see you're bad-tempered and probably has a cat-like personality (if you know how that is.) I have a guess on how you're going to reply to me, or maybe you won't at all.

meh. they're ok.
Hardly an unoriginal band in my opinion.
The guitars just have that awesome drone to them. I love the sound!
Still jamming to this in 2018.🤘 Anyone else?
King L Great and timeless in my opinion!!!!!! You jamming THE CHARIOT too????
2019 bro
@Corjolay to how it affected humanity & then to how those who believe in the word of God & apply it to their lives that they found finally the way they r suppose to be living not the way that going in circles hurting ur own heart, something like dat, u interpret how u see it, i said how i see it, gud day =D
saw them live tonight...awesome!
Rihanna must be fan of Norma Jean as well, seeing all these ads with her face on them.
That would be awesome if Vevo wasn't lying to me.
This isnt mathcore at all. What are you people smoking? If you want "mathcore" go check out Sectioned and The Schoenberg Automaton
@highonfire3653 Lol you mean the bands that worship in their songs?
dont listen to it if you don't like it
Oh yeah because Black Gold Reign is generic deathcore. Choke on a light rod.
really now? both are great bands chief dont know what you are smokin.....
That last scream is jaw dropping. What an range.
2:32 My next tattoo.
i wonder how they got the string to slink like that...
This Cd was way better than antimother that cd sucked!
Watch out, someone has an opinion- on the internet!
@HarrisonD18 What's wrong with the word "bastard?"
We should be best friends then. Potato salad rules
