Have you tried any ester lines from Varivas?
I have not. I use pLine cxx for various reasons. 1. I like to set the hook hard due to they are barbless hooks, not to mention it's fun and look awesome on camera. 2. I see folks break off on braid all the time. Either at the knots or the braid. I know there is not much stretch and folks like that but i need a little stretch because of my hookset. 3. Tying a lead on .0000000006 line is not my idea of fun especially if I am on the yak. 4. pLine is available everywhere. 5. My system works. Why start experimenting? ....my $0.02.

What color of your spoons would you recommend for Del Valle trout?
UV always help. I've actually used most of the spoons at Del Valle and have gotten bit on most of them. Using the 3.0s or the 3.5s for trout is your best bet. Then move up in size for Bass. The whoopers came from the Nature Collection. I hope that helps. Good luck on the giveaway!

Oh and don't forget about the 2.0s ...They kill it bro! Especially when the bite is tough. You end up fishing those much slower because of the weight and they are in the zone longer for those lazy warm trout.
My SDO super spoons came in yesterday. Was excited to try them today. Lost one there at del valle. Good thing a purchased more.

Great question.
This is for a lake. Area Fishing.
1) The straight slow retrieve
2) #1 plus a pause here and there -They hit on the pause. Get ready to set the hook.
3) #1 plus a Flutter - shake your rod tip slightly. Make the spoon flutter. Finesse the spoon. Make like a dyeing bait fish.
4) all of the above during.
You can practice these close to shore or off a dock and watch your spoon
You might feel the fish "mouthing" the spoon. Playing with it. As they do with Bait fish before they eat them. At that point you "flutter" the spoon. Meaning stop retrieving and flutter. Get ready to set the hook when they commit.

I think I need to get into the bfs scene. I’m team daiwa for my spinning reels. Should I switch over to shimano for bfs reels or does daiwa offer good ultralight reels? Its just something about that drag clicker on a casting reel that gets me excited!
Come to the Dark Side...This will not be a cheap proposition. Daiwa SS Air and Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom are both JDM and have to be imported. I got my JDM Aldebaran from Ebay. The seller was in Hayward and I got it days. BFS is super-efficient. Think about how many steps you take when casting with a spinning reel. Then count how many steps to cast with the BFS.

At least I can experience it through you slaying those trout bro. Just lost my pineapple express UV to a rock after it slayed 2 chunky rainbows back to back :(.
