    Brilliant and instructional video, thank you for the information. I have been saving my old Lithium Ion batteries and trying to find where I may be able to send for recycling in the U.S. If more people were as forward looking as you, the future would be much brighter for all of us.

    Wait, the battery for a ferry moving 40 cars is 40x bigger than a car battery? Please make a whole series on this alone.

    Excellent video. What is the key driver between the cost differences in China versus EU? Is it just labor?

    • @ImpetuouslyInsane
      @ImpetuouslyInsane 2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't doubt it. Regulations are usually a barrier of entry due to cost of safety equipment needed to process stuff this toxic. China's been shown to not give a rat's ass about their own labor pool in terms of safety. That, and the fact life is cheap there in general.
      Yeah, I said it.

    Non-destructive re-use of degraded LIBs could easily involve static grid storage applications, until their quality falls below an economic threshold where arbitrage is concerned. They may be competing with new alternatives such as SIBs, but there is far more demand for grid storage than supply.

      you are 100% correct. thing is this to use the used up batteries as storage one has to recycle/harvest the old batteries for personal use. recycling companies DO NOT want people to use these materials up.
      for example the recycling center in centerville iowa received computers that i wanted to buy to recycle the precious metals.the main guy running the center informed me that in order to be able to buy his computers i would have to get certified for Appliance Recycling through the IOWA DNR. i did that (took 9 months just to get to take the 1 day course that took several hundred dollars to take) at the question and answer period after getting certified i ask about computers and was told "THERE IS CURRENTLY NO REGULATIONS FOR THAT< NO LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION NEEDED) . so the head guy had LIED TO ME!!! and i never did get a computer or even an ink cartridge from there!!

    Electric cars are NOT going to help unless they are used strategically and MINIMALISTICALLY
    It is more important to fund #RailTransit for Urban areas as this does not need batteries and is far more efficient on a global level.

      We still need batteries. Perhaps not lithion, but we create more energy then we can store and have to reduce the power to reduce energy waste during non peak times.

      Nobody is contradicting anything. Recycling can be done 100% with chemical refining. Its not that puzzling. Insufficient because we have still yet to build plants in mass.
