I absolutely LOVE this technique....backgrounds are things I can totally get lost in doing...in fact, I believe I received the best compliments from these same type of cards...I love your cards....the are colors are soft and muted...very pretty... Well...watched many of your vidros while finishing the batch of 🎄 cards (34 became 28)....and now that I think about it....this was also a project where I made up the background using watercolors, ink sprays...and metallic rub ons...thanks again for all the inspiration. ...and Merry Christmas 😀🎄👍
I watched this and decided to play. Thank you! I have had a rough day emotionally, and physically. I wasn't sure if I was going to be in tbe mood to start the 10 birthday cards I need to do. I made 53 Mother's day cards with 3 layers of intricate die cuts. I decided I had lost my ever loving mind, and was grateful that my husband and daughter helped for a few hours. I decided to play with watercolors and I am going to die cut them with cut fold and tuck dies.
No, I do cards for my ward, LDS Church, for birthdays and some holidays. I will be doing another 45 of those cards and adding them to my mother's card box for her birthday/mother's day/Christmas present. At some point this year I will be giving her 45 cards each for Valentines, Easter, Christmas, and mother's day. I will also give her about 120 birthday cards. Those will be given out next year. She already has sympathy and thinking of you cards. I also make about 300 cards for the USO. I honestly don't have the energy for card drives. My ward averages 10 birthday cards a month as well.
When this video first came out I thought it was just another one for Distress inks so I didn’t watch it. I don’t want to go and buy another whole set of inks. When I watched you working with the Momento Dew Drops to get a similar effect I was so happy. Thanks for a great video and your inspiration.
Great idea to create patterned paper with inks!!! I'm thinking I could use this die cut technique to use up the tons of patterned paper pads I have too! Thank you for sharing your ideas!!!
I love how you always find alternatives to certain new art products. I like the result of those oxide inks, but I'm not willing to start buying yet another set of ink pads. I don't even use my regular distress inks as often as I should. It took me years before I told myself it was worth the money to start buying some and it cost me another couple of years to gather a small collection (can you tell I'm on a budget?) so I really don't feel like getting into the oxides. I'm definitely going to try your technique. I love the cards you made with the colourful die cuts. I think yesterday I broke my last plotter knife. Really need to find a new online store that sells Silhouette stuff. I finally have the money to buy the latest Cameo, but my store doesn't reply my messages anymore so I'm afraid they're about to close. Anyway, thank you so much for yet another inspiring video!!!
I have that Sizzix popsicle die set but forgot I have it. I'm going to make a card for my grandsons bday. I'm going to make some backgrounds using old chalk inks. And I'll make some with Dylusions paints. I've been on vacation for 8 wks and will get home tomorrow. I've been going thru withdrawals from not doing my crafts. I took coloring to work on but was mostly too exhausted to work on it with only one night stands in motels. I've driven about 11,000 miles circling the USA. I will be starting my birding journal for all 50 states shortly after getting home. I'll practice my technique with cards first. Funny how u gave a code for peg stamps. I just checked that sight last night and was planning to search your videos for a discount code to save myself some money. Thanks Lindsay!!!
You sure make me happy when you make such pretty cards. Your ice cream card was very nice. Thanks for jump starting the use of other supplies to do the oxide designs. Now let me up from watching to go play. Oops there is the Abstract Cityscape. I best watch it now!
I loved how you made your own oxide inks. Can you share your recipe for white pigment ink? Such a fun video. Loved your enthusiasm for the project, thanks for sharing and have a great Mother's Day! Sandy
Sometimes I just need to get a Lindsay fix. Spent a long time today catching up on your videos. Those inks are funky and fun looking. How much is that Michael's brand card? You mentioned it was like card stock and I've been spending a lot on Strathmore cards. By the way, I loved your popsicle card. :-) ~Marty
The Michael's card stock is 110 lb and comes in packages of 100 sheets. It is $14.99 regular price. But there is always a 40% off coupon on their website. It used to come in only white, beige, and black. Recently, though, they have started carrying it in 4-color packs of 100 sheets. Lots of lovely colors!
Thank you! I appreciate all the time and effort that's put into your videos. I have yet to play with my distress oxides! Would you kindly tell me where you got those pretty seashell die cuts? Thanks again.
Woah... those dew drops cost 2 bucks on that site?! God Amazon has been RIPPING me off so bad! You pay three times that for a single black tuxedo not including shipping! It's so convenient but you sure pay for it ☹️
Ka-ching! That is what came to my mind when I saw your display of all your cards! Gorgeous and fun! Thank you for sharing your techniques for mimicking the Distress Oxide effects!
Loved your video. Well all your videos that I've seen. I'm wondering...I want to get a die cutter but don't know which one to start with. Do u have a suggestion?? And do all die cut stencils ( not sure what they are called) but can you use any brand on any cutter? Hope that makes sense. Thanks for any suggestions
Thank you for this video...I'm pretty sure I'm the only one out there that feels investing so much in a totally new oxide ink is just not worth it. I've always been a fan of the Mementos. Thank you again.
+Jessica Aspinall I have had the same big shot for 10 years and it is still going strong so I recommend that:) I think it was $80 when I got it divided by 10 years so about $8 a year and I use it several times a week. You can't go wrong with a bigshot
That was a great lesson on card making . I have only made hand embossed cards with the brass stencils and then painted them. I will definitely try this way of doing cards. I haven't worked with the ink pads. What was the name of the card stock that you used? Dana
Beth Young No problem! After watching Lindsay's backgrounds I was in the mood to play. I bought reeves watercolors, and 2 pallettes from Dick Blick. I also bought iridescent medium. A friend and I filled the 2 pallettes, and put iridescent medium in 4 spots. Mine are pink, yellow, blue, and purple. We put glycerin in each spot. I also have the reeves guash. I am happy with both!
Lindsay, I have a technique that I use that is awesome fun and creates unique backgrounds as a base for cards/ATC's/mixed media. So, after you use your punches to punch out more from your scraps, you could collage your scraps over a piece of paper so it is 100% covered, and even overlapped in some places. Then choose a complimentary color or two for your background and focal image. Take a dollop or two of one or more paints and use your finger to spread them around, as you want, some places completely blended, other with swirls of color. Take this and mash it into a blank paper to get off some of the paint. Repeat as you like, to reveal some of the original scraps that were collaged. When you determine that it is "perfect", then add your focal and sentiment and embellishments. ua-cam.com/video/InE4cqXPkDI/v-deo.html is a video I did using this technique.
Happy Mother's Day! What a great way to make colorful paper for die cutting!
The popsicle hinge card could be used as a tag for a summer birthday present.
Again great colors and the cards are so vivid ! Thanks
Great technique using inks I already have and another way to use our dies. Love the cards.
I absolutely LOVE this technique....backgrounds are things I can totally get lost in doing...in fact, I believe I received the best compliments from these same type of cards...I love your cards....the are colors are soft and muted...very pretty...

Je suis fascinée par ton incroyable créativité et la façon dont tu nous l'enseignes. Merci infiniment pour tous ces partages!!

Jesse, were you making so many cards for a card drive?

+Jesse b that sounds pretty! I hope today is better:)
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thank you!
I can soooooo relate😀😗😀
WONDERFUL!!!! Thanks, Lindsay. Happy Mother's Day to you -- and to all mothers everywhere.
I had to laugh, your Hello card at 15:40 with the butterfly-flower-butterfly design looked like the word "Wow" the way the wings and such worked!
When this video first came out I thought it was just another one for Distress inks so I didn’t watch it. I don’t want to go and buy another whole set of inks. When I watched you working with the Momento Dew Drops to get a similar effect I was so happy. Thanks for a great video and your inspiration.
Beautiful and very 60's!! I have a few oxides. LOVE the 110 lb cardstock, and Recollections finally came out with more colors!! TFS
+Nikki Hensley they did? In #110? What colors?
I actually am going on heresay from my card club. I haven't looked yet. Sorry.😬
Use your little pop sickle as a gift tag on a present, I love it.
Great cards; love all that white space.
Fun video! I love that you are so relaxed and don't stress while creating. I have the embossing folder you used and can't wait to try this method.
Fantastic fun, Lindsay :) I'm planning a day with these techniques.

Darling cards! You make it look so simple and fast! Love them all...❤️

Someone may have already asked...but do you remember what brand the feather dies are? I LOVE THEM!!!!

thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich okay....thank you! :)
Ka-ching! That is what came to my mind when I saw your display of all your cards! Gorgeous and fun! Thank you for sharing your techniques for mimicking the Distress Oxide effects!

How did you make the white ink? Love everything you make.
I probably used white paint
Really great ideas.
do you have a big difference in views between your crafty videos than your artsy videos?
Love this video. Great technique and ideas. You are the greatest!!! TFS
hello Lindsay. like your work very much, just wanted to know if you have used derwent inktense pencils .
david howells yes she has. Sh even has a few videos on them. I know because I bought mine after seeing one of her videos while back.
Fantastic use of that background.
Thank you for this video...I'm pretty sure I'm the only one out there that feels investing so much in a totally new oxide ink is just not worth it. I've always been a fan of the Mementos. Thank you again.
Mary McCaslin No, you aren't. I thought that I wanted a color or two for darker cardstock. I am unsure if I want any at all the more I see them used.
+Jesse b I need to use them on black and see how they are
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich i would love to see that. I LOVE distress, but I am totally unsure of the oxides
You are a vulcan of ideas !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for loads of cool ideas! Can you suggest a good but hopefully (cheap😁) die cutting machine? I'd like one but they cost a mint! Thanks Hun!
+Jessica Aspinall I have had the same big shot for 10 years and it is still going strong so I recommend that:) I think it was $80 when I got it divided by 10 years so about $8 a year and I use it several times a week. You can't go wrong with a bigshot
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thank you, Lindsay! That helps a lot, love all your videos!
what do you use to cut out your shapes
That was a great lesson on card making . I have only made hand embossed cards with the brass stencils and then painted them. I will definitely try this way of doing cards. I haven't worked with the ink pads. What was the name of the card stock that you used? Dana
it might have been bristol
These are amazing! Good job 👍🏻
how can you talk so much and fast good art bad headache
ive about to start card making, why did you use an applicator and not just the tear drop ink please lindsay.
To keep the colors clean or to get a smoother application
Great video ... many ideas and so much inspiration. How do you get a crisp fold on the recollections cardstock? My folds are always less than smooth.
score it first, it is really helpful!
I do score it but somehow can't get a clean fold like you. Probably just me. Thanks for replying.
I do score it first but is never smooth. I probably need practice. Thanks for replying.
+Fe Orot Mejia I also make sure to fold so the dent is on the outside and I press down the crease with my bonefolder too
How do you feel about using a Xyron instead of glue to attach your designs?
great idea, I just don't own one:)
where can you get guash? Sorry if i should incorrectly?
Beth Young Michaels sells Reeves.
Thank you very much
Beth Young No problem!
Jesse b Thank you. Do you use regular VG or do you get just glycerin?
Vegetable glycerin
