Impressive work how they managed to get out of that situation in a month. The 240 days Ayaka was really something all of us could not foresee. I remember praying so hard for the employees to not starved to death after seeing the news on Shanghai citizens didn’t receive any food. That was a terrifying lockdown even from outsiders perspective.
Also remember that starting Patch 3.0 to 3.2 the version is shorten from 6 weeks to 5 weeks to compensate for the delay of 2.7 update and the schedule is back to normal in 3.3 version. Edit: Also BP points 1000 --> 800 points
@unilastation2692 Nah. Well the Scara hate was always there. Maybe it did happen in China, but EN learned about it summer 2024, after Darshans tournament event and Scara rerun.
I still remember the 240 days. I wasn't too aware of what madness was happening in Shanghai at the time, I just saw it as a tiny little oopsie that was going to be fixed in a few hours, and then I went to sleep. Before this, I saw Ayaka as a sheltered but well-mannered girl who low-key has the hots for the traveler. Now imagine my surprise when I woke up and I saw dozens of yandere Ayaka fanarts out of seemingly nowhere overnight lmao
Yeah 😂... But you have to admit she have always had this yandere potential... Yanderes tend to be sophisticated young lady that's kind and supportive... She definitely fit the mold before this...
Ah yes. The infamous eternal Ayaka banner. I was never there to witness it for myself. But thanks to Mujin, I can at least once again recall my time reading about it. But now, in video form. Thanks a lot Mujin.
Just a note: right about when they had that delay, they released a new trailer for Ayaka which was probably their greatest promotional video to date, and it actually gave them a huge boost in sales.
The eternal Ayaya banner was my peak. It was when I got the Queen herself. Ever since then, I poured my little f2p heart into her, with my garbage weapon, with all that time spent on artefacts, with my entire soul bleeding into her talents, and I can truly say - there’s not many f2p Ayaya’s like herself. No boss has survived the Queen.
The Eternal Banner allowed me to get Mistsplitter because I never would have pulled on the weapons banner otherwise but it pushed it to my birthday and I was like "Why not I deserve a treat." Of course, the banner's birthday present for me was to give me two Unforged before it finally coughed up a Mistplitter but we got there in the end lol.
My sibling lives in China. He was apart of the trapped in their apartments and his food was delivered to him while wearing hazmat suits. They would send me jokes of the updates of "this maybe my last entry". I remembered playing during patch. It was crazy.
Ayaka is just some kind of a scary entity in this fandom, she haunted us since the CBT, she is the mythical free 5* at AR42, she is the one to hold us hostage, she is the one who would probably commit acts of various crimes against other waifus in the teapot if given the chance. I love her
I remember seeing many worried comments about Genshin's future during that time, but when 2.7 update came out, people were blown away by the Archon Quest Interlude. I think that hype for the quest(and maybe Yelan) helped the game to swiftly get back on track after the delay.

It’s honestly felt like so long since Ayaka and the eternal banner and I remember experiencing it like ages ago. But now realizing that it was about 1.5 years ago makes it feel like a really historical Genshin event for videos like this to document this truly unprecedented Genshin era.
2.7 suffered by having its "event" be pasted over an archon quest interlude. It ironically made it one of the most memorable events. 2.8 was the golden archipelago remix event. Most likely, they decided to reuse the map because of these lockdowns, and despite that, it also managed to be the best of the three summer events by far.
Lets be honest the only reason Genshin impact makes that much is because they make you pity every character, make you buy Primos just to get a character, and make primos expensive AF.

Very informative video with a lot of details most of us either didn't know or didn't consider. A few points I wanted to mention though: 3:04 "each update coming out having 2 different character banners" & "it's always been this way since release at that point [version 2.6]" is a little bit misleading, since they started experimenting with double character banners for the previous 5 months starting in version 2.3 4:29 12 times ☝️🤓 5:20 it wasn't really a glitch, it was an exploit using third party tools
My family lives in Shanghai and oh boy I can tell you the place was a mess, minimal food was provided and the food that WAS provided, like half of it was non-edible and had gone bad. Good thing its over now though
4:26 Ah yes, I remember that day during the pandemic while I was playing Genshin and looking at the wish. Just ayaka and when I saw that timer. My reaction is "What the fudge?! 240 days?!?!"
Stumbled upon this video and actually didn’t expect someone outside of China would talk about the Shanghai lockdown. I’m a Shanghainese, born and raised there until I’m 19. During the lockdowns I was taking a break from uni and stayed away from family in a separate place, and lets just say I didn’t get to see my family for more than 2 months. During the first 2 weeks, many people in Shanghai, THE most wealthy city in all of China, are starving, City government gave vague announcements, no plans for civilian assistance, district level governments are basically defunct, community government sorta functioned but they have no official budget to get food, shops all closed down anyway so you actually cannot get food at all. When the wealthier families in your city are struggling to get food, you know shits went tits up. Things only mildly got better after 2 weeks or so when communities starts to band closer together and some food suppliers began to operate under government permits. btw, while all this is happening, trucks of food sent by other cities are stopped on the highway, because they’re not allowed in because the government don’t know what to do with them, and they just rot away on the highway. After the lockdown, Shanghai saw a massive exodus of out-of-town workers, they don’t want to stay here and work anymore, because they knew if they do, and shit like this happens again, they wont survive. Shanghai, the economic beacon of China, was brought to its knees by a pandemic, because the government had no idea what to do, so they just closed down literally everything, with only 1 week of warning following a sudden announcement. I left Shanghai after the lockdown, haven’t been back ever since, and happily so
I heard about the long banner but my friends didn’t tell me why, I don’t know if they knew either. Thanks for the clarification sir. I had no idea it was because of lockdown. Glad Mihoyo took care of their employees :)
I am 75% Northern Irish, 25% German, 100% American, but my heart is Egyptian. (Thus whenever I hear anything happening in the middle-east, especially in or around Egypt, it effects me emotionally) I want to pull Dehya from the standard or from a 50-50 loss at some point. Until I do though my focus is on getting the last 3 4-stars I am missing from the past four nations. I am only missing Xinyan, Ninguang, and Sara. If starglitter stays the same until Ninguang reappears in it I can get her easily, and I plan to use Lantern Rite for Xinyan unless standard banner gives her to me beforehand. I also hope Sara appears during Raiden's rerun so I can pull for her.

(I mean not really funny for the employees but the memes bro! XD) Hope you make more videos like this for us newbies to know the history of this anime gacha game lmao!
Can't wait for the next one "Pokemon held hostage by the ROC".
Very informative video with a lot of details most of us either didn't know or didn't consider.
A few points I wanted to mention though:
3:04 "each update coming out having 2 different character banners" & "it's always been this way since release at that point [version 2.6]" is a little bit misleading, since they started experimenting with double character banners for the previous 5 months starting in version 2.3
4:29 12 times ☝️🤓
5:20 it wasn't really a glitch, it was an exploit using third party tools
Another exciting video from Mujin! 🩵🔥
Wazzup Mujin. I still remember the 240 day Ayaka banner, I straight up thought the worst and thought welp, its been a good run boys.
Oh that's where the eternal Ayaka banner and the yandere memes come from xdd I love this haha
Congrats on hitting 100k mujin!
The thumbnail is pure art ✨
That month helped me catch up on a lot of exploration and quests.
My family lives in Shanghai and oh boy I can tell you the place was a mess, minimal food was provided and the food that WAS provided, like half of it was non-edible and had gone bad. Good thing its over now though
Wow i didn't even know that i started Genshin with a perfect timing 😮 i started exactly in 2.7 without even knowing what was going on before
4:26 Ah yes, I remember that day during the pandemic while I was playing Genshin and looking at the wish. Just ayaka and when I saw that timer. My reaction is "What the fudge?! 240 days?!?!"
Every time Mujin releases a video i get excited to hear another genshin scandal😂😂
Smoothest transition to sponsor ever. Even better than Linus
Actually the delay was fixed during 3.1-3.4 I think? They made the updates shorter to get back on track!
At least the memes are absolutely hysterical. Like holy shit that 240 days must’ve been *jarring* to see
I love bby Xiao's reactions throughout the video to point things out lmfao. Thanks for another awesome and funny vid 🩷
That is absolutely crazy. Glad to see the company put the supply of food and water for their worker before the game though.
I left Shanghai after the lockdown, haven’t been back ever since, and happily so
抱抱你
Now this is what i call a Tale, these irl stories be hitting harder then world quests of teyvat.
Always a good day when Mujin uploads.
I heard about the long banner but my friends didn’t tell me why, I don’t know if they knew either. Thanks for the clarification sir. I had no idea it was because of lockdown. Glad Mihoyo took care of their employees :)
I love your vids man! I recommend you to cover the Yae Miko “de-buff” controversy as well 😂
Ah when the ayaka banner didn't end well thanks to that i was able to get ayaka but poor people in china i only recently learned of what happen there
I am 75% Northern Irish, 25% German, 100% American, but my heart is Egyptian.
