Im in a Folk Rock band, all 16, from essex and its actually made me feel so much better watching this, that this type of music is finally being recognised!!
Just got back from watching Seth at St George,s Hall in Bradford,he rocked the place to it's foundations, had everyone on their feet clapping ,dancing there was even screams lol...brilliant,if you get the chance to see him live, book those tickets now........Hope you come back Seth with your brilliant band.....five of these *****...
Every now and then this gem pops up in a playlist and its always a joyous rediscovery. But its just dawned on me that this is a trailblazing moment in music and cultural history, Bear with and I'll explain. Around this time, the monopoles of the major record companies cracked. With the advent of youtube, spotify and all the others suddenly a stuffy record exec didnt decide what was recorded and released any more. People were free again to record what they wanted and us mere mortals suddenly had access to an astonishing variety of music. Okay, some of it sounded like someone got a herd of cats drunk and locked them in a room with musical instruments But slowly, real talent which would otherwise have been crushed by big record companies kindled. Passionate people who, deeply rooted in their cultures had a burning desire to share that with the world. And now we have a quite astonishing reawakening of ancient, half forgotten cultures. Everything from Vikings, Mongols, Germanic and early European.............. heck I saw Roman Metal the other day. And here, the west country. And this track was there at the beginning of all of it, Did Seth singlehandedly create a cultural revolution? Course not But he was there when it was newborn, and helped to feed and nurture it. Walked with skill and flair and a unique quiet charm a path for others to follow. And I, for one, will always be grateful. On the off chance you see this and make it all the way down here, Thank you. Your contribution to the awakenings of the old cultures is appreciated
Have seen him twice in 12 months. Such a good performance by all. Can't wait to see him again. Had never heard him until recently and I am now loving his work..
You girls are pretty amazing as well! Stunning voices and harmonies and a couple of your songs 'Run' and 'Warrior daughter' get played in my house regularly. I hope you collaborate with Seth again sometime..'meet me in the twilight' being one of my favourites..The sound your voices with Seth's make together is beautiful. Keep up the good work and keep it live!
Seth is Opening for Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters during the current tour. He's also playing on a number of their songs. He was amazing.
+hannah pointon Had some pizza and a selfie with him,, sadly the sound quality was appauling for his set. he played so much better at WOMAD the year before.
Just discovered you and Kathryn. Having recently joined a U3a group gathering to share all kinds of folk songs, my a deep interest has been renewed. Thanks to music Apps etc I can now explore and look back on the history of talented artists. I missed out on your talent all these years but grateful it is here to be discovered. Thank you! Best wishes to you both. 😊
Metal, Punk and folk all rock for being able to express raw emotion like other genres can - R'n'B and pop is all about image and glitter ... this music has soul, emotion and life
@thesamcroninproject i was listening to the battle of evermore last night and i get what you're saying. it's got very folky roots, but still rocks out. so to speak.
This song is awesome, and you are very talented, but being perfectly honest, I never would've heard this song if not for my music teacher! She set my class homework to listen to this song and take a quiz for it! XD I am so glad she did!
TESTO ASCOLTA ALTRE RICERCHE DEGLI UTENTI Testo Out of the moonlight in the month of May, This ship would take her last breath. Her full mast it was draping, Like a mermaid she was dressed. Her lonely heart is setting free, All her cares they went sailing out to sea. All those people gathered round, Flocked to view that lovely sight. All young maidens came to town, They waved her out into the night. She tried to clear the rocks with swelling sails, The ocean beat her everytime, And with a crack her body failed. Sea engulfed and filled our eyes. When the news returned to the town, Every maid sat on the pier, With lovers lost and fathers never found, For now that mermaid`s dressed in tears. Her lonely heart has set us free, As all our prayers they went sailing out to sea. You can hear her calling, Now that mermaid`s dressed in tears
Every time I hear this song, on TV ads, programmes and some shop playing. I was wondering who sings this great clarm tune? Now I know who sings this is, Seth Lakeman. When did it frist came out and the video too?
Buy the 'Freedom Fields' album (this is taken from it). You won't regret it, that's a promise! I bought the album just for 'White Hare' but loved every track on it - And I can't say that about most albums these days!
Well if you need me to explain that I wonder how you even figured out how to turn on your computer. Obviously with the powers of the lake you could summon discarded cans and plastic bags to your aid! Not to mention Nessie.
***** Well I guess that would be good to environmental nuts, however I'm surprised you even know how to function properly... Is the Easter Bunny real to you to?
Beyond Paradise brought me here. Excellent song.
She faked her death.
First time i heard this tune, i was in a warehouse i was working in, it was playing full blast. Never forgot it since. Bloody love it.

I had never heard of him saw him at a festival blew me away. He should be huge and mainstream.
I am guessing that huge and mainstream is not the main purpose. It would detract from their outlook and character. But talent undeniable!!

Re deserving fame, I love you both for being satisfied that others appreciate your talents. Makes you both far more positive role models.
Every time I hear this song, on TV ads, programmes and some shop playing. I was wondering who sings this great clarm tune? Now I know who sings this is, Seth Lakeman. When did it frist came out and the video too?
@thesamcroninproject folk songs are associated with tales of grail lore and troubadours. didn't know that metal was along the same lines.
Buy the 'Freedom Fields' album (this is taken from it). You won't regret it, that's a promise!
I bought the album just for 'White Hare' but loved every track on it - And I can't say that about most albums these days!
@molewizard How do Metal and Folk have similar song structure? Not really into Metal, but just getting into Folk.
Seth LAKEMAN...does he have any powers related to lakes?
HAAAAATER!
FlufflesDeKitten ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Having lake powers would be the best!!!
***** Define 'Lake Powers'. What exactly CAN you do with the power of the Lake?
Well if you need me to explain that I wonder how you even figured out how to turn on your computer. Obviously with the powers of the lake you could summon discarded cans and plastic bags to your aid! Not to mention Nessie.
***** Well I guess that would be good to environmental nuts, however I'm surprised you even know how to function properly... Is the Easter Bunny real to you to?
try it! it might be your cup of tea !!!
