Finally.....A 'Lefty' !! Feeling frustrated trying to learn from a right handed painter, or one who draws. I love doing both, but my brain says, HUH? This was a superb video/tutorial, Jescia! I can't wait to watch your other tutorials. Thanks so much - I'm inspired now!!!
Hi Jessica. I use to power carve and wanted to desperately carve faces. Well wood spirit faces. And this was before UA-cam too. I had an extreme issue with the eyes, always with the eyes. I think this video will help me get back into the art again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Also here is a random tip; if you are RIGHT handed, start drawing the eye on the LEFT side of the paper first, then the right eye. That way when you start drawing the second eye you can see what you are doing. If you are LEFT handed, you will want to start drawing the eye on the right side of the paper first.
ENJOYED the video - nicely done! But the KEY to REALISM is that the OUT HEAD DIMENSIONS must absolutely be PERFECT from the start ! YOUR approach you started from the INSIDE to the OUTSIDE, so conceivably the entire drawing COULD have gone OFF the edge of the paper. DO ANOTHER VIDEO where you use the ENTIRE paper, you start on the OUTSIDE and absolutely NAIL the SKULL FIRST, and THEN you NAIL the key points locating all of the facial features. THIS Is the video all us NEWBIES actually NEEEEEEEED !!!! -Mark in North Aurora IL
Tysm for the video! This was really straightforward and easy to understand, thanks so much. I feel like my art has gotten a bit better after this video so I'm really thankful for your help :)
Thank you Jessica. I just started drawing about 2 months ago. This is great. Makes perfect sense. I've been trying to eyeball it (pun intended, groan) and it wasn't working so thank you!!
Thanks for your really helpful videos and inspiring me. To. Go back to something I used to love as a child. My 12 yer old daughter and I regularly watch your videos together and practice what you show (she’s inevitably better than me).
New subscriber. I was really looking for something like this. This is perfect for me as a beginner. And also you have a great personality along with good art skills. Keep it up!
It was very helpful, for my future channel and many beginners, continue, it helps me. I’m a younger artist and this will really help me learn and help teach other learners. I’m kinda a novice, almost as good as you! I’m ten, kinda uncommon but, I’ll try. I love the style of realistic, more mature for my age, and I really enjoy your art. It’s amazing. Art helps me from bullies in school, and you do too. You help me with my depression, after my mom died, after my dad freaking head butted my knee 😂, but yeah, continue your awesomeness of awesome. Thank you and, I love your art.
My issue isn't in the sketch it is when I ink and not able to 100% trace my own lines and one eye some how always has a slight shift... And it just bothers me when it happens.
You can buy them at art supply stores, or even in the arts & craft sections at stores like Target and Walmart. They're just little gray rectangles called kneaded erasers.

How far apart are the lines between the 4 lines
It depends on whose eyes you are drawing! Some eyes are wider, some are more hooded, some might be squinting...
