Take me back to those Aussie times please
Dogs wandering all over the place, nobody walked their dogs when I was a kid, they walked themselves.
😂forgot about that
I can't see a single dog...
And those of us scared of dogs were effectively housebound or constantly alert, in fear of their approach... With good reason I may add having been attacked by one, aged two.
They would come out of driveways and chase you on your pushy
That Milk Bar with Four'n'Twenty on the side is definitely the old Batman Ave shops in Sunbury. It's now a Celebrations grog shop.
I just got home from Sunbury after visiting the family. It is the Batman Ave milkbar. My friend lived across the road from it and I would go over her place around 1970-71. I even spotted her house in the film and the Malleys factory where I worked for couple months before I went to business college.
The same milk bar that's in the spot where Burke Road ends. Eventually there was a fish and chip shop next to it too.
Your right about it being the old Batman Milkbar. I lived in Batman Av for years. Still in Sunbury too. The old white weather board house across the road with the V shape roof he walks past is still there and still looks the same. Boy has everything else changed now lol..
Your going home in the back of a divvy van! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm from Sunbury, and I've taught my kids that tune from the day they were born!, They are 19 and 14, I have slot to answer for😅😅
Well, the roads haven't improved in over 45 years....
Love your channel mate.
Well done.
Cheers Ozzie👍
Excellent excellent excellent footage as always must be last season of Division 4
Whoa. Now that's a long time ago now mate.
Geez this film clip brings back a whole lot of memories for me I miss the old town of sunbury which I grew up and lived on macedon street right across from the old police station and went to the old primary school which was also on the corner of macedon and jackson street old time memories
My old house appears in this clip, 2 Drysdale Street...a long while before I owned it. Homicide and Divvy 4 , and Bluey, always had great shots of Melbourne past.
Love it.....
The Malleys factory. Worked there in my 20s, around '84 '85
Gee, 1975. Even the crows sounded happier and less oppressed.
75 was a good year ..we got colour TV and that was a big deal ,especially us kids getting colour cartoons lol
got to love the old valiant divvy vans, the body roll on those was so bad but a smooth ride.
Not wrong, I used to get around in a valiant ute same year as that divvy van. Didn't matter what speed you hit a speed hump at you couldn't feel it. It was almost like you floated in those old things, they were so smooth
Sharpies in a Datto
100% Melba ave shop. Great video. Thanks brings back memories as a kid hanging out the front of shop
The number-plate of LLK at the start - my dad's 72 Falcon was LGL so I can date this pretty accurately as 1975
WOW! Thanks for the upload.
Valiant effort...
Cheers
Holden, actually :))
I lived in Sunbury back then. Moved from California to Sunbury. I remember those school uniforms. Spent 1st and part of 2nd form at Sunbury High. It was so long ago. We lived out by Emu Bottom on Racecourse Rd. Hope I have the names right. Thank you for the upload. Brought back crazy memories.
@wendy3992 Who would move from California to Sunbury?
yes thats Sunbury west primary school and the milkbar in melba ave and mt lion in background. malleys the factory also in the clip.
those were the days!
The school at the 0.55 minute mark looks like Sunbury West Primary School on Elizabeth Drive. When The Hog drives the other car off the road at 4.40 that looks like Cornish St. They drive off past the old Malley's factory. The shot of The Hog at 5.25 looks like Felton Ave. All the places I mentioned are in Sunbury.
I showed this footage to my family and friends who knew Sunbury back then. They also found that;
- "The servo that they walk into at 3:05 is the old Caltex at Gap/Horne st.
As they approach it at around 2:55 is the old railway goods shed which is now the car park at the rear of Harris Scarfe.
I reckon that's Gap road in the opening scene"
- "definitely not Melba as the Milk Bar was the first shop on the left, when looking at it from the Lindsay Ave corner....
definitely not Melba.
It's Batman for sure"
- "Batman Avenue shop, Sunbury West Primary, Malleys, Gap Rd servo next to where I used to work & I'm sure that was Dobell Avenue where the suicidal dog ran across the road....
I thought that it was up the top of Drysdale st into Felton ave"
- "I think the bit where The Hog pulls into a driveway to hide from the cops looks like Dobell Ave. The house with the Pampas grass."
- "5.25 minute mark...
Coming down Felton Ave from the top end…"
- "And in the final scene….
Outside my parent’s house in Felton Ave"
- "Yes now I see that grey house in a still at the top you are right, Felton Ave for sure. Ah memories."
- "Drives around this corner at 1:00 is the top end of Dobell Ave, turning into Drysdale"
- "These homes are on the high side of McCubbin act/Drysdale (1.02 minute mark)"
- "Can anyone decipher the white signage on the roof in the background?...(2.03 minutes)
"It is SQUASH
The squash courts - so that scene is along Horne Street…
In fact all the driving scenes with the large pine trees flanking the road side are in Horne"
- "At 1:44
The phone box was on the west corner of Dobell Ave and Preston St"
- "That house in the background is 56 Dobell"
- "2:26 possibly is the intersection of Horne and Cornish streets looking south towards Gap Road
The cars are travelling north towards Maccas.
To the left is the vacant paddocks next to the rail station
I may be wrong"
- "From what I can tell this footage came from a Division 4 episode called
"1956 and All That"
that aired Oct 21, 1975 ("Two aging rockers confronted with a young female prison escapee find themselves not so tough as they imagine.") I got that info from IMDB".
Thanks for posting this footage. It brought up lots of good memories for us old Sunbury kids :)
Didn’t know there was that many coppers in Sunbury
I clicked on this expecting footage of Sunbury music festival, but watched it right thru anyway haha
Sunbury - Looks like 'MALLEYS' on the wall of the industrial building at 4:40 which was on the corner of Cornish Street and Andersons Road.
11 million people lived in Australia at this time. So much more room for activities.😂
15 million. Haven't you heard Bon Scott sing ,there was 15 million fingers learning how to play and if you heard the fingers picking ,this is what they had to say .....let there be rock
Looks like western suburbs between Ballarat and Melbourne possibly around the Bacchus Marsh area
All and sundry. VERSUS All in Sunbury.
I was going to say Lilydale area, but seems Sunbury is winning. But yeah, maybe Sunbury and Serge was having a day off from Cash & Co at Emu Bottom. They could put these shows back on now and they would rate better than the rubbish they have now. Mick
The Valiant police van, is a custom model for Crawford Productions, based on the ute.
The Valiant panel van did not appear in production for a few more years & is today, very rare.
It seems you'd do anything to have your (new) cars, on a police show.
On the British show, The professionals, the cars were driven hard & earned their money.
Great shots of a era past..Got my nose broken in Sunbury back in the very early 80's as I was an out of town guy in the wrong place etc...still like seeing the old footage ...what's with the subliminal girl at 5:10?
When the Datto 1600 ran wide onto the dirt at the "Road Closed" sign, it should've been right at home -- Engage rally mode! 🙂
1 min mark is Dobell ave Sunbury, and Drysdale st also Felton ave going both ways, and later Cornish st and Anderson rd past the old Malleys factory and the old silo at the rail yards in the background looks like they were on Vineyard rd lol
Was going to say this, definitely dobell in there!
I grew up on Cornish st, it was a dirt rd until the mid 80’s east of the barracades
You would have been opposite the pine forest and bmx track
@@stevesaunders9966 yes I was, is this the Steve I used to know via his brother?
@@EddyOtway sorry mate, I have no brother, only sisters lol
1975- 76 - 1st ac/dc tour concert that countdown organized at local townhall
I had an FB/EK for a paddock bashers back in the 80s
Gary Marquett Kids today wouldn't know what a paddock bomb was would they? Don't think there's any paddocks left..... Certainly not on the eastern side of Melbourne
And now they're worth like 50k!
Police dogs in those days seemed a lot more chipper than now.
They should've had their song 'Hitchhiker' playing in the background ? lol
It was the dog that ran across the streets lucky day at the 5.27 mark... I second later and it would of been flattened right in front of those kids standing on the side walk, it was probably their dog
I thought the same thing. Would have made some not nice viewing
Interesting to see a "Rocker" versus "Skinhead" confrontation portrayed here !! And very nearly a case of "over-exposure" too on the part of the young lady !!
Like the classic 70s blond Brick houses
Christ the old drum brakes were cop'n a hiding 😅
EK Holden from 1961 to 62. Datsun 1600 from 68 to 72 was more powerful and lighter in standard form.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_EK
yes the old EK Holden , first one to have automatic transmission. Hydramatic, which was nothing like the GM ones made in America...haha. No wonder the manuals still dominated the EK range. They did improve them though by the EH.
The Datsun 1600 would have blown their doors off. Wheels Car of the Year in 1972 and the first with fully independent rear suspension, ie, left and right independent trailing arms instead of a one solid differential. I owned one for quite a few years, you could also throw in a motor from a 180B or a 200B, they also took triple SU carbys. Great stuff, I miss it.
Weird looking at so of the old streets of Sunbury Gap rd & Horne St Service Station now a Fast Food shops Batman Ave Milk Bar beforer the extensions Cornish st & Anderson Rd and a street that looked Dobell ave to me and Diggers Rest Railway Crossing
"Divvie 4 to VKC, Divvie 4 to VKC are ya there Mack? Shirl here Frank, Mack's at lunch, just got Gary on Solo 1 to go give yuz backup, over?"
That was interesting 🙂
Good ol Scumbury

The seventies ,flares ,fj Holden.

Yep Sunbury!
Jeez Sunbury so old compared to now. I live in Sunbury and nothing in this video is the same Sunbury
Dunno Gezza but the Datsun 1600 won! 😀
And LLK - 494 would be long gone now ! I think that's a later plate for that year holden ..re registered early to to 70's ? .
Who are they trying to kid, the bloody Datsun 1600 would wipe the EK shitbox with the gutless old side-plater grey that wouldn’t pull a sailor of you sister!
I love u Sunbury
Wallan?
What’s the subliminal picture of the girl at 5.10 ish?.
Yeah I noticed too
👍❤️
Sunbury hasn't changed at all
Still full of dickheads in crappy old Holdens
My money is on Sunbury.
Ahhh when dogs just roamed the streets with the kids.....
Dogs used to roam at will, having a go at other dogs or people they didnt like! My childhood street.
That's no way to talk of the young lady at 0:23...
Hey guys, what's the name of the film/movie and or any of the actors?
A treasure-trove of history...thanks for posting Gezza1967
Cheers Peter Division 4👍
Flat out that EK would barely do 35 MPH in the streets, maybe 65 MPH on the highway, I owned many back in the 70's.
I had an EK wagon with a 138 red motor, that thing flew. Probably one of the best cars I have owned, it got around everywhere in the early seventies. Bloody good memories.
One thing though I couldnt stop that grey box from jumping out of top.
@@dawgwithabone6826 exactly.
Geez l would hate to be the wheelman in that death trap,
04:08 is the top of reservoir road?
Back then you'd pick those old buckets up for 30 bucks
There's quite a story behind the VJ Valiant Divvy Van....
Who made them? Were they just a Victorian thing, as I've never seen a pre CL van in SA.
@@rossbrumby1957 ...Ok Ross..this is the deal...the White VH Valiant Panel van was in fact a 1971 Untility modified by Chrysler as a Van for use in their Police Dramas..it was a 3-on-the-Tree Van with 245 Hemi. The Siren housing was permanently bolted to the Bonnet. Later the VH Grill assembly was replaced with an updated VJ. The Van was the very first effort by Chrysler to change their vehicle style having not manufactured a Van previously. I believe this paved the way for later CL/CM versions. Sadly the iconic VJ Van was destroyed during an episode of THE FLYING DOCTORS...a unique and special vehicle lost forever...I hope this answers your questions...
Looks like West Meadows
Was hoping an Aussie Dr. Emmett Brown would appear at drag scene.
Definitely Sunbury Batman Ave shops and service station is on the corner of Elizabeth drive where to 7-Eleven is now
Where's Emu Creek Bridge?
I used to fill those courage cans.
So basically Sunbury is exactly the same
How come the roads were better then? Attractive young lady, wonder if she has seen this now.
Old EK dragging a 1600 Datsun.
By classic do you mean obscure?
These suburbs now, overwhelmed by foreigners. It's a nightmare.

@@a7128 Clearly, you've haven't been out and around here in the last five years.

Sunbury is a separate town
It was a separate town in 1975, but since the council amalgamations it's just the arse end of Broadmeadows.
The population of back then was correct. Now way over populated.
Yeah your right, now it's becoming the new shit hotspot for latest country jumpers....ishhhhhh!
This is why Perth is the best ..our population is like Melbourne in the 70s...just right now. Not too big not too small
Looks the same today lol...
