    Congratulations on finishing your first year! Way to stick with it, Rebecca. I've enjoyed keeping up with your progress. If you're in Tucson, that's not TOO far from San Diego, have you thought about coming out for a weekend or something to tour the actual school? I'm sure Jeff wouldn't mind you sitting in for a "Friday night live" session or something. Sometimes just being around it, and observing how everyone else works can help you level up quickly. Plus.. the beach is right down the street. Either way, keep up the good work!

      Will! I love your videos, practically peed my pants when I saw this comment! Thank you so much. I'm putting "Visit San Diego" on my to-do list. You're right, it's so close, no excuses. :)

      That is so awesome! I was just listening to a podcast about having a healthy sense of competition (something I struggle with sometimes) - I'm glad the videos are motivating!

    Hey Rebecca, just tuned in to your videos a few weeks ago whilst searching for Reilly head info and the like - absolute fair play to you for laying out your work and experience for all to see. Takes guts! Your work is fantastic. Congratulations and keep posting :)

    Congratulations Rebecca. I don't know about the "you should draw everyday or else its not a passion", but I do kind of agree with just sitting down and drawing regardless of what you are thinking or feeling at that moment. You just sit and draw.

    Totally just binge watched your journey. Thanks for sharing. :D
    About 2 years ago I was doing Watts Online for about a month then had to stop. Wife and I were buying a house so I had to go full adult and make a decision. Haha
    Anyways, I was able to sign back up a couple days ago and I spent this morning sharpening pencils. Good to see proof that it gets better. So what’s next? Are you going to continue into painting, etc?
    Thanks again. Really inspiring. :D

    I just started the drawing program. I was shocked by the sheer amount of video content. And they just added Figure Phase 4!

    • @beccarand
      @beccarand  5 років тому +1

      I saw that! That was the best thing about Watts-it was EASILY several years worth of material.

    You're an inspiration! I just joined Watt's about 2 weeks ago and it was helpful to see the progress of someone who is several months ahead of me.
    Q: do you have a drawing bench? (Sketch horse, drawing mule....lots of names, apparently)

    I'm sure this is been asked before but is the online course a great place for beginners to start?

    • @beccarand
      @beccarand  7 років тому

      Hi Jose! Good question, I think it depends on your goals. If you are really focused on traditional, figurative work, I think Watts is a good option. If you're hoping to get a more well-rounded art education, probably not the best place to start. I was a design major so I already had some background knowledge in composition, perspective, light and shadow, etc. The fundamentals sections are not too robust in the online program (they jump into the figure pretty fast). If I were you (assuming you're a true beginner), I'd probably take a few community college classes-if you're near one-to get a grasp on the basics. That being said, if your goal is to draw a nice portrait or static figure, this will get you there.

    Rebecca, do you feel that after this course you could sit down and confidently draw a portrait of someone in life or from a photo when no reference video from the school is available?

    • @beccarand
      @beccarand  7 років тому +3

      Actually a lot of the drawings from the last few weeks are from random photos I found on the internet (with the exception of the master copies). I haven't done any life drawing since starting, but I feel confidant drawing from a photo.

    Becca, Congrats!Now you have a very accomplished collection of student art to cherish and admire. The video you were granted "free access" to on my UA-cam channel is for the express purpose of helping new artists figure out their next steps. In just a few minutes an entire world of art related success secrets and access doors will be revealed to you. ) If you know any other art students who value their money and time and who you feel are serious about their art education, let me know, and I will evaluate their art for possible "free access." Congrats again Becca and what a worthwhile journey!
