- Ammco automotive brake lathe refurbished.
With commentary about this Ammco lathe which I purchased on Facebook marketplace, excellent piece of machinery made in the USA, got it from a little town in Oklahoma, on my trip to get the lathe we went by a town where there was a long gone, (or so I thought) Western Auto Store. Which brought back nostalgic feelings of me being an employee of the company for a few years, here in Dallas, same lathe model that we used in the shop, later on after Western Auto I got the same model lathe on my own shop. Later on, I sold it. Now I needed again.
Thanks for watching.

Very well done, Carlos! Enjoyed the video and learned a lot about the lathe.
Thank you very much!
Nice job! O have two to assembly for the first time. I hope to get it. Marco from Brazil.
You can do it! Good luck!
Great video. I've been rebuilding these for over twenty years now here in the DFW area. You're right those drum gear boxes are a pain to put together by the way the name of my company is independent brake lathe service
I will keep it in mind if I ever need your help or advice in the future. Thanks for the info!
@@CarlosMDominguez so do you want a machine shop here in the DFW area? Occasionally I need some stuff done I have a guy that I used south of Dallas but that's a long trip from where I live
@@sinned96 I don’t have a machine shop I do this stuff mainly as a hobby and youtube video creation. I sold the lathe but I may refurbish another one soon.
@CarlosMDominguez well if you do get another one let me know if you need any hard-to-find parts I know MT RSR sells a lot of stuff that is my main supplier. But I have a lot of the hard-to-find parts that you can't get anymore because Ammco is out of business
@@sinned96 I sure will. Thank you very much.
Buena suerte.
Hola Carlos, do you have the part number for the bearings on that motor? thanks in advance.
Searching thru the pictures I found the bearing boxes they are SKF 6203 2ZJEM or may be 6203 2ZIEM it is a little blurry.
Hey Carlos on the second picture of the internal structure on the minute 5:10 of the video the piece 54 how it's called ?
It is called the Belleville spring.
Podría hacer un video de la ammco 5000 o el funcionamiento
Me gustaria, pero hasta ahorita no se me ha dado la oportunidad de adquirir una unidad de esas, casi no hay tornos heavy duty en el mercado.
@@CarlosMDominguezCarlos is have a ammco like the one in this video. But the gears or gear to feed for the rotors finally gave up. So now it doesn’t feed slow or fast. I have nobody to service it here locally in California and unfortunately i don’t even know the model number. Do you think i can fix it myself or is it too much, what do you think? I would gladly pay someone to fix it
Its a model 4000. If is not feeding, is possible that the shear gear is broken The (Right Angle assembly Drive has shear gear) that gets driven by the pulley. You can buy the assembly or the gear.
mt-rsr.com/products/right-angle-drive-9815 or search on ebay. It is not too hard to replace. Also search for the lathe manual pdf, its free to download, just search for ammco brake lathe pdf and find one, that will help you a lot. Good luck. I hope it helps.

Gracias Carlos
I have a large inventory of genuine Ammco parts gathered over 40 years. Respond with contact info and I will send you a parts list.
Wat is the price to renew my ammco 400
Sorry, I don't do it as a business.
Where are you located? Would you be willing to rebuild mine? Ammco 7750
Im located in Dallas, what is wrong with yours?
Few things, I would want a general overview inspection and service. Do you have a email ?
I'm sorry I don't do this for a living, but you can try Independent Brake lathe service located at Leonard TX, his name is Dennis. Independentbrake@gmail.com@@awheelalignmentplaceinc3123

I've been servicing and rebuilding Ammco brake lathes for over 40 years. These old 4000 models will last forever...if you can find parts and they always look like this one unless they were recently rebuilt. Rust is not an operational issue. Ammco lathes and parts are now made in China and are pure shit. Don't buy a new one. I have 40+ years of parts on hand if anyone is looking for genuine Ammco parts made in America.
You are right. Not only Ammco, a bunch of other things as well. Please leave your contact email or website if possible. I am currently refurbishing a 4001 model, with truck adaptors, I might need some parts. Thanks for the comment!
