When the Titans and Bills met on Wild Card Weekend in 1999, they were franchises in very different places. Tennessee was not long removed from being the Oilers, and from being in Houston. Their new leaders were making their very first playoff appearance. And they had zero quarterback controversy.
The Bills meanwhile were making their tenth trip to the playoffs in 12 seasons. They were looking to move past the major disappointments of the 90s, but to do so had just made a massive change at the quarterback position.
We all know the Music City Miracle, but do you remember what got us to that point? For that, we need to rewind.

@@jeremyneiderhoff except he doesn't
I watched this. I distinctly remember the broadcast cutting to a Flutie ostensibly holding a clipboard in front of his face. But you could see that he had a grin a mile wide when his eyes lit up.
@@jeremyneiderhoff he was by far the best QB on that roster, beloved by fans and players, and got them that winning record.
This killed 10 years of being Super Bowl contenders for the bills, and opened 20 years of pure garbage and mediocrity
Spaghetti Brad hey, Ed Oliver looks great and Allen has potential. The future looks bright
Bills probably lose a fifth Superbowl if Flutie starts throughout the playoffs
The Bills still have the Flutie Curse, or should I say Ralph Wilson.
Much like the Chargers still have the Marty "Schottenheimer Curse" following his firing, and after the Chargers 2006 Season (14-2) home, Div. Playoff loss to the lol, lowly 12-4 Patriots.
@@williamgrant2463 Lol, if you're not first, you're last.
@LuvFloridaSunsets Gotta remember that the Bills are the much more experienced playoff team than the Colts at this point, this was the last run of the 90s Bills, I think the Bills defense would've given Peyton fits, the Manning Harrison Colts that we would see in the 2000s just wasn't there yet. Plus the Bills had already beaten the Jags in the regular season so I think there was a good chance there. Bills get bodied by the Rams in the Superbowl but at least they get there again
How do you leave out the most important part of this video: "THERE ARE NO FLAGS ON THE FIELD!!!"

TENNESSEE HAS PULLED A MIRACLE
Thank you. You absolutely cannot leave that part out.
Poor, poor Doug Flutie. Having to watch that from the bench :(
Such a talented player screwed over by an incompetent coach.
Damn Philips.
It was an incompetent owner, Ralph Wilson demanded pretty questionable moves, firing Bill Polian in 1993, and was also responsible for benching Flutie in favor of Johnson because he told Philips to. The Bills are only now starting to recover from this game which is just about two decades ago
It was Wilson who told Phillips to start him. Flutie was an ass around town though
@@williamgrant2463 Ralph Wilson was a terrible owner do to his frugalness

Thats definitely part of it...but look at their 'stars' at this point. Smith, Reed, Thomas, even Flutie...all pretty old in football years and well past their prime. I think Dallas blowing a 17-point halftime lead to Shane Falco and the replacement Washington Sentinels deserves a deep rewind.
Well, if Footsteps Falco hadn't shaved points in the Sugar Bowl he would have been starting in the NFL.
My favorite part of that movie is me betting that Keanu would find a way to say, "Whoa." in the movie. And he did.
