It's just because they are pressed pigments. Which can irritate, so they put the disclaimer because they are face approved by the fda but not eye approved.
Side note: many of her palettes have pressed pigments. As does many other brands.
You look amazing using the palette. That said if you can't use 25% of the palette on the eyes i don't think it's worth it. Bummer..
I totally agree. If there’s something that’s not meant to be used on the eyes, don’t put it in an EYESHADOW palette
Any pigment has to say it is not approved for eyes in the US. It's just a legal technicality. They are approved in every other country, but until the FDA finally takes the time to officially certify pigments and specific glitters, every palette having them will have that legal disclaimer in the US. They were made for eye use, which is why they're in an eye shadow palette, but without the official FDA ok, they have to put that so they can sell it in the US. Pigments can temporarily stain which is why FDA has to give a separate approval. Crazy enough, it is legally approved to be ok to stain face & body.
Thanks for clearing that up! I didn't understand why, if they're in an eyeshadow palette, why can't they be used on the eyes?! 🤦♀️
So why is the bone/ cream color a problem?
@@katiehenry7 It is it a pigment form, or have certain glitters, by law they need to have that disclaimer. It may be pigment material, but it also has reflects so it could be either issue. I've spoken to chemists who understand the materials better than I do, but many palettes have these materials and also have disclaimer these days (different glitters and pigments are common these days), but most don't notice. I know the legal end (my field), but there are only disclaimers on products which may be sold in the US. If no potential package may be in the US, no legal disclaimer needed and product passes all safety regulation everywhere else. It's absurd and IMO, just laziness on the FDA because they aren't shown to be unsafe, just no taking time to do the FDA approval, and most European countries have fully approved and they have stricter safety standards than the US.

Same. It's such a cop out to deliberately include shadows that aren't eye safe in a palette that is an eye palette. They don't even bother to differentiate them - they're all mixed in with the other shades. They know what they're doing.
Yeah, I don't get the "body" shades thing. Are these really risky to use around the eyes? If so, they should be prominently labeled. Otherwise, ABH is setting themselves up for lawsuits.
The three shades are pressed pigments which is why they are not RECOMMENDED for eye use. All pressed pigments have this warning because is required by the FDA. However, you can patch test the colors and if you don't get any irritation they are safe to use on they eye. You may just get some staining because they are pigments not shadows,
I don’t know why they can’t make them safer for the eyes. No one wants to have an allergic reaction.

It makes no sense to me to create 3 shades in an eyeshadow palette that should NOT be used on your eyes!

Exactly, I feel that they are robbing you with those three. Makes no sense and puts the customer at risk (not everybody goes and reads the content on the website)

Kinda concerning that in an EYE shadow palette they say not to use 3 pigments that aren't even grouped together on the eyes....

The pigment issue is something to do with the USA regulator not passing ingredients present in some shades of pigment for use around the eyes, usually ingredients that are passed in Europe. It's been covered quite widely due to the recent Kylie palette saying the same thing, and an issue with a Morphe palette previously. It would be good to have this info clear when reviewing a palette, it's very accessible.

I think the guys at Urban Decay who curated the Wild Greens palette must be kicking themselves right now. This is how to do a green palette. This look is stunning & you have really done a fantastic job of showing it's potential.

Seems silly to include colors you can't use on your eyes in an eye shadow pallet. Especially at this price. That's $6.11/shadow color.. I'll pass. You wear it well and created a feminine look.

This eye look is everything I love about green! I hate that 3 of the colors I would really want to play with aren't meant for the eyes though. That kind of defeats the purpose of having them in an eye palette. Especially as pricey as ABH is.
I guess I am missing something but if you can’t use an eyeshadow on the eyes what use are they, lol? I haven’t been so excited for a palette in so long. Grungy greens are my favorite and this palette looks perfect. I ordered it from Nordstrom and I hope it comes today. Monday is a federal holiday so if not today it will be a long wait til Tuesday. Your look is beautiful.
It is safe in Europe. It's just US where things are stricter. It could stain for example. Especially the purple and red
I'm not sure about paying $55 for a eyeshadow palette when three of the shades can't even go on the eyes?

It’s pretty but not spring/summer tones to me. Even with the pop of lavender it’s very fall vibes. It is beautiful on you n I’m a sucker for army greens like the shade Liberty in the pallete. I’ll still probably pick it up eventually bc the shimmers are beautiful but i don’t know 🤷🏻♀️ it’s not wowing me quite yet. Maybe for fall and for $55 I’d rather get something more summer rn but u look gorgeous as always ❤️✌🏼
I'm really over ABH palettes. The formula really isn't that great - way too powdery. I have drugstore eyeshadows that are better in quality, formula and also last longer on the eyes.

This is the first ABH palette in a long time that I have gotten excited over! Definitely adding it to my collection!
Edit: I just called my local Ulta and it will be in store on Sun the 19th and they are holding me one to pick up during my hair appt there on Mon the 20th so I am SO excited to play with it! The 3 not safe for eyes shades are pressed pigments so if that doesn’t irritate your eyes in like the ColourPop formulas this should be ok.
I really don't understand why they would put shadows into an eyeshadow pallet that you can't use on your eyes. Why would you do that. Where on your face/body would you use those shadows? Can't wait to see what you do with them because I have'nt a clue.

Pretty colors. It sounds like they shades that have warnings are pressed pigments. You can patch test on your arm to see if you get any staining or irritation.
I love those green shadows! I want this because I have green hazel eyes. A little out of my price range though🙁
Anastasia is pro Putin/Russia so I think I’m going to pass and monetarily support other brands instead

That duo chrome color looks a lot like the duo chrome in the Mandalorian palette....I'd be curious to see a comparison swatch and see how you would use thay color in a look.

Amazing look Allie! Im so excited about this palette! This is the perfect “neutral” palette for me 🥹🥹 its just so nice to not have to dig through 3+ different palettes when I want a pastel lavender, olive/sage/minty green moment - because that used to happen so often! 😭 And the Wings shade gives me Tinkerbell vibes.
I also didnt realize how intense the shift in Lilli was going to be until i saw it in person and its STUNNING

Norvina was the first pallet I purchased myself. I have that, soft glam & subculture that I purchased. Someone gave me her Norvina vol. 1. I absolutely love them & use them regularly. ABH & Beauty Bay are my 2 favorite eye shadow formulas.

I am sorry about using this spot to ask, because this is a mascara question. I absolutely love mascara and although my lashes are blonde they are very long. Best mascara so far for me has been Thrive. My only complaint is that, well I'm a crier, and if and when I cry all the Thrive mascara comes off onto my face. How can I remedy this? About the colors that you "can't put on your eyes" - I think it has something to do with certain pigments being used instead of carmine (to make it a vegan formula) that could potentially stain the eyes. Jeffree Star and Kylie Cosmetics also have a few shades that have the same disclaimer. I think it's because of a certain Amercan law, but I don't know the further details of it (I'm from Belgium, Europe so..) 😅 anyway, the color story in this palette looks soooo interesting!
This is a pretty palette and you made a gorgeous look. Although I love ABH palettes, I won't be buying it. I don't care for the $55 price tag and then 3 shadows I can't even use on my eyes. It's a pass but I love your videos. You create such pretty looks:)
This is just like JH Mothers Day Palette. Minus the purple but it is. I am glad people are excited for it but for me it is nothing special. I expect more from ABH. You are so excited it is refreshing!
That looks exactly like Kylie Cosmetics Take Me on Vacation palette minus the pop of blue and yellow. I’m sure the ABH palette is much higher quality but I was shocked to see the similarities.

Hey, Allie! I love your content and positive vibes so I hate to be a downer, but Anastasia was caught liking and commenting positively on pro-Putin posts. I figured I’d leave a comment about it since I don’t want to assume that you (or anyone else) know.
Omg so I just watched Samantha March’s video and she did basically the same eye look and it’s gorgeous! Definitely something I’d do if I had the pallete!
I’m dying to know what you’re supposed to do with the face/body shades. They look like color correcting, but if so then why powder? Powder might not stick as well to the face. It would make more sense if they made those shades in a longer rectangle so you can remember which ones are not for your eyes.
But I’ve been eyeing this one and the Soft Glam. I try not to buy too many eyeshadow pallets because I don’t do a full face that often. But if I were going to, they would be one. I have an olive/neutral complexion and usually love greenish shades but not total green.
I think the 'disclaimer' about not using those shadows on your eyes is simply to cover ABH in case someone experiences 'staining' from those shades. I watched another review, and they said that the pigments in question are only called out here in the US, not in other countries? Something to do with the FDA having different standards than UK or EU?
You did a good job with your eye look but I am for sure turned off by ABH palettes in general! Almost every single palette has shades people cannot use on their eyes. Soo DUMB.

Although I love the look on you, I personally would never purchase an eye shadow pallet where I couldn't use 3 colors. For that price point, I better get to use all colors. There is no brush included and I usually purchase beauty products for the products themselves, not packaging. It's a pass for me.
